Walden is a book by American transcendentalist writer Henry David Thoreau. It’s about his time living near Walden Pond in Massachusetts and simple living in natural surroundings. The work is part personal declaration of independence, social experiment, voyage of spiritual discovery, satire, and-to some degree-a manual for self-reliance.

Fun Fact: Tuomas got the inspiration for the song from Henry David Thoreau's book: "Walden; or, Life in the Woods" (1854). He was an American transcendentalist writer and the book tells about the author's simple living in natural surroundings. Walden details Thoreau's experiences in a cabin he built near Walden Pond in Concord, Massachusetts. Also, it's one of my favourite Nightwish songs. Such a beautiful tune and the pure joy is just unmatchable.

1:25 being a furmom is tough sometimes, but totally worth it 1:54 Troy is so charming My Walden, along with Alpenglow are like sisters where Troy, Floor and Marko truly shine as a trio, and you can notice his voice (Troy's) underneath the other two, before he goes fully instrumental

Yes, we heard the purring. 🐈 Good luck with the surgery. Troy is singing in Welch at the start. Inspired by the book Walden by Henry David Thoreau, which was written while staying at Walden Pond. Tuomas considers the song a continuation of I Want My Tears Back. Next at Wembley, While Your Lips Are Still Red, isn't heavy either, but Marko sings lead.

"My Walden" and "Alpenglow" are real uplifting, feel good songs, for me on a par with E.L.O's "Mr Blue Sky" that has been voted the happiest song ever. Thanks to you and Bruno the contented purr machine for once again reacting to this phenomenal band. 🙏😊👍❤️

Enjoyed your reaction. Thank you for your honesty. Warning you probably will find the next song, While Your Lips Your Red, not to your liking either as it is a more of a ballad. I happen to love it because of Marko's beautiful sweet and vulnerable voice as the lead and Floor's gorgeous harmonies as the backup singer. It's a beautiful tribute to innocent young love. If you enjoyed Troy's Uilleann pipes then you might want to go back and checkout Last of the Wild's live from Wacken. Instrumental banger featuring Troy's pipes with a great folk metal feel. Played while Floor was changing outfits.

I appreciate your honesty, and love Bruno. He is just the biggest love. I think that the great thing about Nightwish is that each song is different. So, if you aren't too enthusiastic about one, the next will be an alternate journey. Though, "While Your Lips are Still Red", which is next, isn't exactly a banger either. But, you get Marko singing lead, and that's always (to me at least) a joy.

lol this happens to him wherever he goes, he gets cuddles at the vet, the groomer, when tradesmen come to the house, he’s just a cuddle monster.

First, I appreciate that you give your honest thoughts, that said, I think your facial expressions during the song may mean that future re-listening may grow to a greater overall appreciation for it because you had a look of utter bliss due to the sounds found in the song (much like the look Bruno had for most of the video). That's the beauty of Nightwish for me, the differences in the songs; they not only give you space in a concert (saw them in LA USA in 2022) but they gift you songs for your moods. I certainly won't listen to this song when I'm wanting to rock out, instead it's Weak Fantasy, Romanticide, Dark Chest of Wonders, etc but when I'm feeling a particular kind of chill and connected, songs like this one and others like Elan, Alpenglow or How's the Heart, etc are there to enhance the mood. As for your reactions overall, I enjoy them and I especially love when Bruno joins you. I just lost my dear Mia cat (she was 16 and had cancer) and seeing you getting to snuggle with him fills my heart with a bittersweet joy. Thank you for taking the time to put yourself out there..... oh darn, I just watched the end of the video with Bruno and him needing surgery. I get your concerns, when Mia was 15 she had to go under anesthesia for an invasive test and she was what some people would have called "frail" - barely six pounds (she was the "runt" of the litter and was always tiny) with a chronic respiratory illness - I was convinced she wouldn't make it and was a worried wreck but she made it through just fine. I'm convinced that it's the love we give them that helps get them through all sorts of challenges. I'll be sending you all my positive kitty energy next week.

One of the many things I love about Nightwish is the variety in their music. I can find a song to fit any mood I'm in or want to be in. And it's a plus for me when the pace in a concert is varied - sustained high velocity just wears me out, but I do understand everybody's jam is different (and that's a wonderful thing IMO). My favorite line from this song is "I do not wish to evade the world, but I will forever build my own." Genius Tuomas strikes again.

Your cat looks huge and so soft. I have a snowshoe on his last vet trip they had to muzzle him to take blood, it was a bit like hannibal lector a black muzzle bless him. Great reaction to this feel good song not the most metal but it does grow on you 😊🇬🇧

@@themetalmuse unfortunately my beautiful cat had to be put to sleep just over a week ago, he went downhill so rapidly, he was diagnosed with diabetes which the vet kept saying he didn't have, he collapsed at home and we took him straight to the vet who put him on a drip. They did tests and later that day said that untreated diabetes had lead to kidney failure heart failure and thyroid failure, we had no choice but to let him go he lost a third of his body weight in three days. I'm furious at the vet who I had been arguing for four months about me thinking he was diabetic, I was right I feel so let down he was sixteen but I know he would have lived longer. It makes me even madder that we were going to the vet every couple of weeks and they wouldn't have it that I knew he was diabetic. On the day he died the vet said I'm amazed he's diabetic and untreated it's caused all these problems. I should have gone somewhere else and I will blame myself forever for this. So RIP my beautiful Dink I am heartbroken. Needless to say I have changed vets as I have a dog and I no longer trust them at all.

Oh my god I am so sorry for your loss and your experience. Your poor fur baby. I'm furious at your vet too. We trust them with our precious ones, who can only depend on us for their wellbeing. Please don't blame yourself you did what you could! I hope you feel ok soon, but I know that's unlikely, so I just hope your doggo can help soothe you.

Thank you for being honest in your recognition of "My Walden". The more "ballady" songs have though also their own character. depending on the mood you are in when listening. BTW, Bruno liked it very much.... But for more heavy music: I would like to see you react to Epica's "Consign to Oblivion" or more 80s feeling with Beast in Black "Moonlight Rednezvous". Appreciate your content!

He’s the most chill cat ever, he fell asleep in the vet’s arms recently and is such a sweetie he didn’t even need sedation for a scan, he just snoozed off while they fussed around him. He just loves to be loved on!

This is most of all a song, made for Troy and hes pipes.. its a great song, but i can agree with someone else, that other NW songs might be better in concert, if we should just keep it to songs where Troy stand out, i want my tears back, and Harvest are proberly 2 better choices for concert..

Gotta admit, I agree. It's a good song, but it's not a great one. I like the celtic vibe, and especially having a first verse sung in Welsh appeals to me as a Welshman. But it's not one of their best songs.
