R.I.P Ann Waychoff mother of the Nightwish Army. June 28th, 2020 . Ann was a big Nightwish Fan. And every new person who listened to NW, she went through a little chat. And gave them some info about NW. This was her favorite song. And this song belongs to her. I like very much that Gabriel have continue Ann s work.... so her heritage is still here.

Ann was Gabriel's predecessor. He stepped into her place after her death with love if I may add.

Thanks for doing the extended version with the spoken poem section from the album. It was written by Tuomas in an ode to the original, and voiced by friends and family of the band. It is not played live, but those are the words on the big screen behind the band. "Death is the winner in any war". Anette era song from the Imaginaerum album. The lyrics that you replayed , with the pyro accents: All that great heart lying still and slowly dying. All that great heart lying still on an Angel's wing (x2). Thera are 2 tracks left at this concert, but only 1 song, Last Ride of the Day. The last track, Imaginaerum is the outro where the band takes their bow. Yes, you pronounced Tuomas correctly. This song is the heart of the Nightwish army. This is the why, even for those that have never heard this part of the song. I never had any direct communications with Ann but I remember seeing many posts by her in the first few months I began listening to Nightwish. She is the person that gave me so much more of this wonderful band than I could ever get by watching their videos. And then she was gone. It was truly stunned and completely saddened when I read a post that said she had passed away. Since then I have come to understand why they call Nightwish fans an army and why their is so much love and passion in this group of people.

The poem was on the album after the song but was displayed on the screen behind the band at the concert. A fan made this live version with the poem attached as a tribute tp Ann Waychoff the original leader of the Nightwish Army who passed.

All of the songs at this concert were written for either Tarja or Anette, so Floor is basically performing existing material with her own interpretation (the outro of Ghost Love Score being the perfect example) Any concert after 2013, which would include Tampere (pronounced 'Tom - per- uh') Wembley from 2015, Buenos Aires from 2018 and Hellfest from 2022, will all feature songs that Tuomas has written specifically for Floor. In case you were unsure, Anne Waychoff began the online 'welcome' messages to new listeners to Nightwish music on KZfaq. Unfortunately she died a few years ago and Gabriel Bardac has carried on her good work ever since. 'Song of Myself' was her favourite Nightwish song, and the final movement entitled 'Love' is included here as a tribute to her. Kindest etc

The keys of G and E minor have the exact same notes in them. Major keys are considered happy, minor keys sad. The point is that we and our feelings are fundamentally made up of the same things - but we ourselves and our feelings start at different places on the continuum and effortlessly shift back and forth.

The Wacken performance of Song of Myself was the favorite version of Ann, but she always wished it included the poem that was in the album version at the end. Fortunately someone in the NW army made that version for her. Ann was someone who commented on every NW reaction with a positive passion. She was a lovely person to talk to and she is still dearly missed by those in in NW army, myself included.

Ann Waycroft was the army "general" until she died. RIP. Gabriel has kind of taken over her role and does a fantastic job. Song of Myself was Ann's absolute favorite NW piece, This piece is also one of my absolute favorite. This extended version is fan made and approved by NW. It has the last part "Love" of the song that is divided in 6 parts. This last part is not really suitable for a live concert therefore the song stops where it does. If you look carefully, you'll see on the screen the "That change from G to Em" that also conclude the "Love" poem part. This is my favorite song of the concert. Like you, that end section with the pyro was what hit me the most the first time I saw it. Now, I would say my favorite part is probably the chorus, when Marko comes in with Floor. Such powerful vocals in that section. I also like that part towards the beginning, when Floor switches from that slow, low intro, to full ass-kicking belting. The energy just immediately shoots right up!

Great reaction! This video is a fan tribute to Ann Waychoff. Ann was the gofmother of teh Nightwish Army and started the tradition of welcoming new reactors to the band with a bit of information. She also did a lot to make the Nightwish Army the welcoming and kind place that is and I know she did a lot to help members of the Army behind the scenes. This was her favorite song. Gabriel has nobly and ably carried on the tradition. The video is a mashup of the live performance from Wacken and the spoken word section from the album version which is not performed live. Song of Myself is inspired by the Walt Whitman poem of the same name and the spoken owrd section is a poem composed by Tuomas as ode to and in the style of Walt Whitman. Obviously Tuomas is a big fan. I hope you will continue to do Nightwish on your channel after Wacken. You can certainly continue with other concerts to hear new songs and skip the ones you have already heard. You mentioned a number of times about Nightwish going softer. The song has two meanings. One is with Walt Whitman, where the first-person narrator describes 52 weeks of his life. On the other hand, the album Imaginaerum is the film music for the band's feature film of the same name. In Him In Him, the main character suffers from dementia, forgets everything and dies. In order to be reconciled with his daughter, he writes down everything he always wanted to tell her but never said. It is spoken by the band and the actors of the film. The song was only played on this tour, without the poem.

The change from G to Em is a reference to Major and relative minor within a key. Em is the relative minor in the key of G Major. That concept can probably be applied to much of what that epic poem at the end of the song said. We're all human.

The poem at the end is from the studio recording. It was not part of the live performance for obvious reasons. This song is inspired by a famous poem of the same name by Walt Whitman from 1858. This was what the poem was all about. The last line is a musical metaphor. it has many possible meanings and maybe is all of them to ponder. G is a happy uplifting key, and Em gives a darker more melancholy vibe. It could also be a comment on how in your youth you are carefree and happy. When you grow older you find that real life presents a much darker reality filled with sorrow and negativity as well as the joy of life. Another comment on the lost innocence of youth. Tuomas' favorite topic to write into his music.

I haven't actually heard this version myself. The added poetry adds another dimension. Troy is obviously talking at the beginning and that sounds like Johanna, Tuomas's wife, right after him.

Another awesome reaction Nikki. My suggestion is that you take another NW concert, and listen to those songs what you have not heard yet (at least). There are playlists on my channel (or Remastercide channel), so it is easy to keep track. If you want to continue with Floor, next logic concert (bluray) is Vehicle Of Spirit: Tampere 2015 as it was recorded in July. The other concert on that same double bluray is from Wembley, recorded in December. The best versions are on Remastercide channel. Audio "remasters" are done by me, and video enhancements by ShauningtoN. As an old fan, I wouldn't mind if you would check few older songs with Tarja as well. She was the original singer.

Em is the relative minor of G. Same notes but they begin on another note, giving a different feel, a sadder or more emotional feel. For the longest i had Bless The Child as my favourite song,then Floor came in and made me love Song Of Myself if not just as much,then almost just as much as i have always loved Bless The Child. When she puts her stamp on songs,i feel like they (Floor and Nightwish as a whole) strengthen the songs for me. In the Imaginaerum movie, 'Song of Myself' refers not only to the song itself, but to all the lyrics that Walt Whitman (Thomas, main caracter in the film) generally keeps in his vault. Aside from the lyrics, of course, there's also a reminder that he went to the circus with 'Gem', which has its own symbolism. This song is also the key of the movie Imaginaerum that Nightwish made in relation with the album. Actually, the song is never played in the movie, but the last line gets another meaning and brings enlightment to one of the main characters of the movie (I avoid saying more to avoid spoilers).

It would be a really natural progression for you to pick up at Wembley 2015. "Wembley Wednesdays" would start with "Shudder Before the Beautiful," which is another great show opener, then "Yours is an Empty Hope" which you're going to LOVE, then you can decide if you're going to redo "Ever Dream" and "Storytime" or skip them to "My Walden" (more pipes!) "Elan," "Weak Fantasy," "7 Days to the Wolves," (Another BANGER) "Alpenglow," and then you'll get into #2 of the Nightwish Big 3, "Poet and the Pendulum." Two songs you've heard before after that, then "Stargazers," 2 More songs you've heard before, then #3 of the Big Nightwish 3, "The Greatest Show on Earth," Which closes out the concert. I REALLY think this is a good roadmap for you!

Try other songs by Nightwish next. There are so many, and also with Tarja singing. Eventually get to The Greatest Show on Earth (at Wembley). Love your reactions.

This is my favorite song from this show but lets face it they are all amazing. I think you should continue with Nightwish and check out The Greatest Show on Earth (Tampere Version) then Poet and the Pendulum Live at Wembley these are two of their more epic performances. Change from G to Em takes on a different context if you watch the movie Imaginaerum. This concert was part of the world tour for the Imaginaerum album. Roughly half the songs from Wacken 2013 were off the Imaginaerum album. The movie and album were written to be able to stand alone but to also support each other. All the music in the movie is on the album. I think but could be wrong that ever song from the album is incorporated into the movie. Mostly it's short instrumental versions of the song with no lyrics. The only 2 songs played in their entirety are Scaretale and Slow Love Slow. You can find the movie on KZfaq.

I am not good with technical terms in english but literally translated it would be prallel keys so there is a major (positive vibes) and a minor (sadder tone) key and each of the keys of major has a minor counterpart which consists of the exact same tones.

There's a big difference between a fan and a Windmill. If Floor does the Windmill those fans just get blown away.
