It's a little Sea Shanty about a lonely old Lighthouse keeper reminiscing about his life. Kind of a camp fire song. Marko is a great folk type storyteller. Quite a good guitar player as well as bassist.

This is a great song for sure. Marko is a massive vocalist, he knows his instrument as well as his Bass. Man's got a vibrato worthy of any opera hall, and a range that surprises you every once in a while with how wonderfully deep and full he can make it. His breath control is underrated for sure and his ability to run, while changing between chest and mix voice seamlessly is a thing of beauty. And his playing? Well we don't presume to speak on such masterful things because we (I) am 3 left thumbs, 2 right index fingers and about 5 pinky fingers when it comes to playing anything. I.E. it's painful and I don't bloody do it :-). But if you do watch his strumming pattern is a closed 3 pattern loop which changes every new time signature, which is how you get that "lilty" sea chanty type sound. You play Nightwish and you KNOW I'll be around to listen, enjoy and comment ;-) P.S> the part where he's talking and teh subs are off.....he's basically asking, "If I sing the chorus will you all sing with me?" "Ok, let's do it". Kai comes in with those heavy tom's AND a shaker, try doing both those things at once,I dare ya! LOL. Then Troy with that lonely Irish low tin flute is ....man....just haunting, and Floor? Well Floor does what Floor does and it's pure magic every time. Tuomas keeping everything like clockwork, tying it all together and you have another masterpiece. Simple right? LOL Poor Empuu LOL Marko's simply disgusted with the recording industry. He hates the fact that they demand you basically just pound out record after record, instead of letting the creative process just be...what it is. They take proceeds from EVERYTHING that you do, when the artists are the ones actually create, and connect with the fans. Some was some anxiety and some burnout, but his basic gist is that he wants change and more control for the artists and he just needs some time away form the bullcrap. Can't blame him to be honest, and making sure every one of us is in our best state of mind is very important and often overlooked. Brilliant work gent's, cheers.

You've just got to love the variety of Nightwish. Very tender and sentimental.

The vastly different styles of songs is what makes this band so special. And their talent at songwriting, playing and singing of course. There is something special about the concert at Tampere. It has completely different vibe than other concerts and I love how Marko, Floor and Emppu got the chance to walk down the ego ramp. :-) Shout out Marco's metal folky vocals in here and his Warwick bass/Framus quitar Infinity/Panthera double neck (this flamed maple version is even cooler looking than the birdseye one) and the Troy's low whistle. All that is missing is a Floor-is-my-back-up-singer t-shirt.

You still have no idea what Marko is capable of! His credits are extremely long and is a Rock God!!!

His announcement when he left Nightwish said he thought the recording industry was squeezing the artists dry during COVID (maybe the recording industry is being squeezed itself?). The announcement is somewhere on line & I'm sure there are a few videos about it on KZfaq also.

That combined bass and guitar is called "The Beast". I told you there were weasels in the Nightwish rabbit hole! I like weasels! He asked the crowd to sing along when the subs dropped. The video, with Anette, is good too - Nightwish are so hot the campfire sits around them! P.S. The stand-in bassist is Jukka Koskinen, from Wintersun, - as I predicted!

Hello guys, a lovely little sea type shanty, isn't it? There is also a video of this song with Anette in it. The harmony singing is different, more campfire-ish (literally haha) and although Anette is not my favorite, I like this version very much. They also made a documentary "Making of Islander" which is very interesting to watch! As for the concert in Tampere (pron TAM...like in car...Peh...Rrreh) there is also a documentary about Floor (a school reunion programme on the Dutch TV, in this case with her old schoolmates from the Rock Acadamy) in which she and her parents are interviewd before and after this concert..."Floor Jansen interview and raportage from Tampere". You will see an emotional Floor! Cheers!
