You do not have to apologize about trying to explain how you are feeling. That is the way all Nightwish fans feel. That is why we are die hard fans. There is no other band out there like them. I was there in the audience. Usually a concert like this makes everybody headbanging , not this song. Everybody was just looking, mouths open almost hypnotised. When they finished the song though we all stood up and clapped for 5 minutes. Nobody could believe what just witnessed. Absolutely epic, it’s impressive. Oh yeah probably you would be sick watching the waves, the screen behind them, at Wembley Arena is one of the best in the world. Nightwish live concerts are more than music, it’s pure art. They had 3 singers, Tarja (1st) which this song is about when they let her go from the band. It is written by the keyboardist Tomas (He writes all the songs). You can listen to "The Phantom of the Opera" with her. The 2nd one was Anette Olsen which you can listen to with Amaranth. And lastly the current singer from this video, Floor Jansen. You will get many more "Floorgasm" listening to her!!! Other good songs are Romanticide, The Greatest Show on Earth, Song of Myself, Storytime...

Yep this is how Floor works. You get transported to another world and she steals your heart while doing it. Pitty you missed the "Thank you" comment after the song was finished. She pours her heart out to the crowd and then says "Thank you" like she needs to appologize to you for listening. But make no mistake about that you are now her willing slave forever. There is no way back anymore your hers now and there is no way to escape (not that you would ever want to). One more masterpiece to listen to called "The greatest show on Earth". here is the link. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l7pxlKh5zq3Opok.html Welcome to the world of Nightwish.

This exactly the kind of song, that you forget about yourself while listening to it :) Lyrics carry a lot of weight too, song is inspired by E.A. Poe's short story "The Pit and the Pendulum", but also songwriter was in a really dark place, after they parted ways with the original singer Tarja Turunen. This happened 2005. If you want to dig a little bit deeper into their history, I recommend something from End of An Era-concert. "The Siren" OR "Phantom of the Opera" (cover version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's famous musical) Thank you and cheers!

Everytime someone says "Never heard if them" I fall out of my chair... like *HOW?!* have you never heard of them? Im not saying that in a judgemental, "wow how have you never heard of them you pleb" way but rather that Im genuinly chocked. Dunno your age man but Id say youre roughly my age, give or take a couple of years and Nightwish has been THE band in symphonic metal since I was in junior high (mid to late 90s), they were practically mainstream, even played on radio *Before* the more rock oriented channels established themselves. Its incomprehensible for me that someone born between lets say 78 and 90 never heard of them. But I digress, as I said, Im not hatin on you my friend 😁 Im really happy for you to finally discover them... *Everyone* deserves Nightwish. And you make good reaction videos, they feel very honest and genuine and you seem really emotionally invested. 🤘😎👍

This song is an emotional roller-coaster for Tuomas(keyboardist) as it spells out all the emotions he went through after the first singer, Tarja was let go and there was a huge backlash that blamed him for it. Now might be a good time to do some Tarja (operatic singer) before you venture into the Greatest Show on Earth. Might I suggest: Phantom of the Opera ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j7CilMqVp5ywZIU.html) Duet with Tarja and Gandalf !! @johncheek2415
@johncheek2415 5 жыл бұрын
This is a very emotional song, especially for the keyboard player Tuomas. He wrote this after the release of their first singer Tarja. There was worldwide backlash over the decision, and Tuomas took the blunt of it. So mush so he sank into deep dark depression and contemplated suicide. Then his friend Tony Kakko from the band Sonata Arctica came to visit and they went camping and Tony told him that suicide was not the way, as it would hurt more people than he realized. After the trip Tuomas wrote this song that describes what he went thru and in the song he does commit suicide. When they perform this song(not often) he has the vocals switched off in his in-ear monitor so all he hears are the words, it still effects him 12 years after the fact. If you notice at the end Marco(bass player) and Emppu(guitar player come and stand next to him as a show of support. Not only are they a band, but they are close friends, and most important they are family, and they live it everyday.

The Greatest Show on Earth is another VERY long one, and a journey. (It's a song about the history of the universe and of the evolution of life, and human culture; I presume it's named after the Richard Dawkins book with the same title.) But before going into that, I suggest taking a foray into one or two of their shorter pieces, including some that are a little heavier. I suggest "Song Of Myself" and "Romanticide" for that. Both live, of course, from the Wacken 2013 concert. 😎

Another great reaction chad to an emotional rollercoaster of a song! Would love to see you react to a 3rd epic the greatest show on earth live at Tampere. The song is a poetic brief summary of the creation of Earth, life as we know it, evolution, and Earth's "roadtrip" through the aeons. Numerous scientific and historic references all over the place so grab yourself a wikipedia if you're going to make full sense out of it! To get you going: The cosmic law of gravity (self explanatory) Pulled the newborns around a fire (Creation of our galaxy, newborns=planets, fire=sun) A careless, cold infinity in every vast direction (self explanatory) Lonely farer in the Goldilocks zone (That is Earth, the only habitable planet) She has a tale to tell (Earth takes the main stage from now on!) Take note at the end (18:00) when Emppu and Marco (lead and bass) gather around Tuomas (keyboardist) in support because they know how much it hurts Tuomas to play this song. They don't play it much live for that reason.

7:30 We Nightwish fans know what is happening, you are one of us now! And this journey is goign to lead you to The Greatest Show On Earth @ Tampere 2015, where u will meet your nemesis again, the waves of the ocean on the background screens! Their most epic and longest rollercoaster song of em all. I am sure u wil enjoy that one even moreso!

Its funny that you imagine the water so much, Tuomas (keyboard player and composer of most songs) is fascinated by the ocean, he started to study sea biology at some point before Nightwish took off. The ocean and water analogies are very common throughout all of his compositions. It's funny how certain melodies just evoke images, and in this case they actually added it ont he background. It might seem like coincidence sometimes, but Tuomas knows very well what he is doing. It's genius stuff man.

That is what i love about music so much..it effects everyone so differently!! I have been hammered by some folks for not spending more time on the meanings of their songs...this is only the 3rd time in my life i have heard this band so i am just amazed at them as performers and musician right now, i think the meanings of the songs and words will come later. Even still there are some bands i enjoy strictly based off their music and not their song writing ability! Music is great in that way. Thanks Carlos for the comments and watching my video! Have a good one bro!!

@arnaldo tanta The video of december 2017 ( published in jan.2018 ) is gone again. ( Blocked ) for the second time. Such a pity and such a shame. The only place I found this very good version was on a reaction channel: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jLyqmNtl18mqgGQ.html so you can listen to it, but with the reactor , maybe without screen. ;-) The older versions 2016 ( published in jan. 2017 ) are less good ( recorded )

Have loved both your reactions to Nightwish 😁 but i must say that i do hate that some people suggest this song without giving you the background story behind it. Toumas (on keyboard) composes and writes all the Songs from Nightwish. This song was written after he was forced to throw their lead singer in 2005. When he did the fans turned on him and he went through hell. He almost turned suicidal. This song is his way of dealing with it. You see him singing at the last part without a mic. Would love to see your reaction to a newer song that will not be suggested as much but i promise you that its worth it 😁 my walden live at tampere. Looking forward to see your reaction to it if you actually do that song 👍😊

Just to make it clear. Even though it has become an internet fart.. Tuomas never thought about killing himself or had suicidal thoughts. he was depressed and NW was and is his lifes work. This song is about slaying the deamons of what he felt and killing the bad things, so he could have his lifes work be something good and happy again. He him self have been out saying he would never kill himself. he never thought about it. Help share to break the lie that you see in every vid of this song comments. The songs emotions are real, dont make it or Toumas feelings into something they are not. He and NW deserves better.

@@mattijohansen3471 yes, that is true. Also the story of him and Kakko going to Lapland, that was after he had to say Vänskä has to leave the band. They did not go on the trip after Tarja had to go.

Since everyone else has more than commented on the music from the official videos .. just a caution that some reviewers have taken hits from reviewing some of the singles .. evidently the music company slams with KZfaq copyright .. the more knowledgeable can comment on that. Oh .. and Floor .. magnificent .. note that she stands 6'-1" in her stocking feet .. and she wears heels ...

And to copy paste my own words said many times. This is from 2 weeks ago though in an other reaction vid.. " NW dont make music. NW takes you on a journey. And when you follow them, you will see things only NW can show you. If you do not go on the journey, you will just hear music and not get what the band is giving you. Like the journey of life, there is many different states to go through, some will bring you to tears. others will make you laugh. Those things, tells you that you did join NW on there journey. You understand what you where given. Not a song, not a piece of text, you where taken on a journey, you walked a path that lead you somewhere you had never been before. That is NightWish. " And on an other information note. Its not her voice in the beginning, they had backtracking made. The light tracking voice is a young boy. and.. just something i always look at. When Marco (Gandalf) sings... Look at how he plays the base all along..
