Tuomas Holopainen is the one writing music and lyrics for Nightwish; the other bandmembers come in with their input after the initial composing by Tuomas. Floor has just released her first song called Fire for her solo work.

@@tapio7133 Correct, but since Marko has left the band it is up to Tuomas; Marko has his own music 'Pyre of the Black Heart' is one and if he does not return to Nightwish, he will probably record some more of his own, i hope.

First : Troy is playing an Electric Bouzouki ( A musical instrument popular in Greece. It is a member of the long-necked lute family, with a round body with a flat top and a long neck with a fretted fingerboard.). Marko is Playing an Warwick Infinity / Panthera Double neck Bass and Guitar ( It is called THE BEAST). This song is against organized religions based on tribal religious texts, especially The Bible, it's not against personal faith in some Deity. However, one should realize that all those religious texts are & have been interpreted and used to justify unimaginable cruelties, persecution, discrimination etc., the worst being the idea that man is separate from nature & by some divine right above all other lifeforms, which explains the current almost catastrophic state of our planet. lyrics are spot on - so many fractures in our world have a root in the fantasy that each of the religions/sects/whatever are THE ONE way. This song speaks, with anger, against the fact that we humans are destroying ourselves and this world based on a power structure that needs to be made obsolete - we ALL deserve better. I LOVE this Song . Especially Floor's Freddie Mercury pose at the end ( What you guys Missed!!!). Brilliant info :) Thankyou :) Floor is a great admirer of Freddie, and I did notice that same gesture towards the end (shown from behind). She also does other gestures and mannerisms of his, and similar, in the Buenos Aires concert. I think it's a wonderful way to show her respect and admiration for the genius he was. Love Freddie Mercury, and Floor is a lot like him in many ways - charisma, magnetism, power, and expression. Both of them live music through their entire being, they're incredible and unforgettable to watch and experience. Greetings from New Zealand :)

Loved your reactions to this awesome performance. Speaking of haters, you should check out the song where Tuomas laid the hammer down on them from this same Wembley show. "Yours is an Empty Hope". Floor harsh growls through all of the choruses while Marko sings clean. Very cool. Nightwish is in concert tonight in Toronto.

Both the music and the lyrics for this song were written by Marko and Tuomas together. According to Tuomas, Marko is the main composer. The song is criticizing organized religion, which is often about controlling people by fear and about making money.

Saying "organized religion", while true is not the whole picture here. It is specifically targeting Christianity here. You could argue that it could apply to Islam as well, but it's Christianity that claims a "dead man" is "god". Although it fits perfectly with North Korea also.

Guys if you are doing The Poet and the Pendulum it has to be live at Wembley 2015. Floor is superb. This is the song that Tuomas wrote about his depression after the sacking of Tarja and the backlash. Only Floor has the voice and empathy for this song.

I like how you guys can finish each others words, thoughts, and sentences. Truly two people made to be together. Its very cool and i hope one day to try and find what you got. Congrats and welcome to the NightWish family. All 3 singers are good, and all of the studio albums are awesome. . theres like 10 of them. I cant decide which is my favorite, it changes all the time.

I'm so sorry I missed this live! Ugh! Such a great song. This is mostly Tuomas & Marko - an open criticism of organized religion - all of the death/suffering/wars/underhanded stuff that's been done in the name of the Church. Personally, I take it as a veiled shot at The Vatican - *kiss the ring* Pope. Many religions, at their base, control through faith and fear of eternal damnation. Again, personally I need no church or no earthly man to help me speak to G-d nor to speak to G-d on my behalf. I am my own church - as is each and every human being. G-d is within you, we are to walk a path of light and grace to the best of our ability every moment. The light is within you - the light IS you. Anyway, yes, music and art is always subjective. Tuomas has said in interviews he often doesn't put out his meanings for songs bc he doesn't want the listener to get stuck on his own meaning. He wants the listener to gather from it exactly what they need/wish to. But, the ones that do have the meanings out there - it's a fascinating look into his mind. I think one reason I love Nightwish so much, besides the immeasurable talent in each member and amazing music, is bc their lyrics sound exactly like my husband, who is a writer. It's freaky sometimes haha! Hubby loves them too, thank G-d! Again, I'm so sad I missed this live! I'll look out for more, for sure! Hope you guys & your kiddos are more than well! One more thing - I cannot wait until you guys get to a few with Marko in charge! I have to suggest 3 now - While Your Lips Are Still Red - live from Wembley and The Islander from this show - live at Tampere! Both AMAZING. also - please find time for High Hopes Live from end of an Era show. That's their tribute to Pink Floyd. High Hopes was off of the Division Bell album and its WONDERFUL. All 3 have Marko in charge on vocals. You will LOVE all of the lyrics to all 3 of those. Can't wait to see these and gear yall's thoughts!!!! Always enjoy listening to you guys!

In "Poet and The Pendulum" IMHO you need to do small background work for that. It's their second longest song. And during that time it still was very personal song for Tuomas.

Hello I enjoy your reactions and your insights which is why I'm giving you this suggestion. I've noticed that there's a pattern among Nightwish reactions from channel to channel. They start of with the Wacken Ghost Love Score then they follow Gabriel's list (no offense to Gabriel, his heart is in the right place). Not many channels (if any) actually go back in the past and listen to the studio versions that made Nightwish so amazing. The few channels that do, just do one song here and there. Nor do they dig deeper into the albums to establish a true connection with the band. If Floor didn't sing it or if it isn't live, they don't react to it. If you truly want to the full Nightwish experience, go back to the beginning and work your way through one of the best bands to ever exist. All the Floor stuff will still be here waiting for you. My $0.02 Whatever you decide, keep being yourselves because that's what makes your channel so enjoyable.

First, Thank you so much for the kind words and for choosing to spend your valuable time watching our videos, It really does mean the world to us. And secondly I thing that is a VERY good Idea. We LOVE watching Live performances and Gabriel's list is awesome and for people that have never heard of them it is invaluable, but we really enjoy studio tracks as well. We aren't even quite half way through his list yet as we unexpectedly had to take the summer off from making videos to spend with my mother who is in the early stages of dementia, so we have fell behind as of the last few months. BUT we are back as of a couple of weeks ago and we have slowly but surely squared everything away and updated our studio and now we are ready to dive back into Nightwish and our Channel. I know we have a few on the list coming up we have been looking forward to hearing FINALLY but I think your Idea is a good one and we will try to work in the albums. Thanks again for the comment and the support, we try to separate ourselves from the bulk of the other channels and the best way we feel we can do that is by being REAL and making sure we honor the music by spending a little more time on it and fully digesting it rather than just a quick listen. Tuomas composes and writes more than 95% of the music and lyrics. After he has the songs mapped out he gives them to the others where they give their input. He says he is not a guitar guy, so Emppu does his guitar work on them and the Bass & Drums figure out their parts as the befit the music. Floor is given the melody, lyrics and what he is looking for and works her vocals in with Tuomas to get it right. Troy is all over with all his instruments and backing vocals (some lead too on new album). It really is a collaboration with the base of Tuomas and his genius to support them all. :) There are some "making of" videos showing some of their process. Also the documentary "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours" about when Floor joined them to get more of an insight on the band and hear them all talking. :) All the members of Nightwish have side solo projects. Always have. Check out Markos KZfaq. Check out Auri which is Tuomas, with his wife Johanna & Troy. Beautiful stuff. Tuomas also has a Disney inspired project called the Life and Times of Scrooge as he loved the Scrooge McDuck comics as a kid. :) As far as reacting to Floor - go to her KZfaq channel and there are a ton of covers, some originals, vlogs, and other things on there to react to. Also all her performances on the Dutch TV show Beste Zangers 2019 are awesome, and on her wiki you will read of some other side projects she has been in which are good to react to as well. You asked what fans think about Floor's solo career besides Nightwish. My impression is that most (if not all) love every new opportunity to see every aspect of her stage presence. To me, her voice is like grandma's home cooked meals on Sunday, more or less a day doesn't pass with at least one song and having variety in her performances is great. Second topic is "hyping up Poet and the Pendulum". Yup, it's hyped, but the thing is, that song delivers. Don't forget to switch on subtitles for it, definitely needed.

Solar Floor is only Fire. The rest are covers or reworked Nightwish, After Forever and Revamp. I would say take a look at Fire , then the cover of Heart’s Aline. And then the Beste Zangers stuff is AWESOME! Her covers of Opera, Folk, etc are unmatched.

Tuomas told in an Interview about this song: "I was really careful about how to write those lyrics, we talked about them with the whole band, so that everybody agrees within the band. Because it doesn't want to be too preachy, but we want to make a statement and I think we succeeded in that. I just don't find it any kind of virtue to believe in anything without evidence. I don't understand why many people consider faith a virtue. There are certain reasons why we have a justice system in the court or in the world. You question reason, you have evidence, evidence, evidence and then you make a verdict. I mean, it's like you're accused of rape, we have absolutely no evidence but I have faith that you are guilty so you will go to jail for 10 years. It doesn't work like that, the world shouldn't work like that but with religion it's allowed and that's something that should be discussed especially these days. All religions, they're a bit immune to criticism, and open discussion, and updating. I'd rather follow a science based, evidence based facts of morality as well, one that's reasoned and discussed as well, than a 2000-years-old book.” Thank you guys so much for your channel and sharing your thoughts with us. Religion can be a very very positive and uplifting experience however it depends on what religion is being used for and we have all seen the extremes...... And if you ask me when it goes in that direction it's no longer religion it becomes something else

Male Necrocracy. the son inherits leadership from the father after his death, and does everything exactly the same. this song is an indictment of organized religion as a whole. i don't pretend my spirituality is any less ridiculous than anyone else's. if what you believe brings you peace, helps you process the heinous crap that goes on in the world, and encourages you to treat others with dignity, kindness, and resect, more power to you. just because i believe something different doesn't make you "right" and me "wrong". doesn't make me a bad person. doesn't give you the right to impose your beliefs on the rest of society.
