@@TheThamesmen When you add in her growls in the chorus, it was like he was trying to show her entire range. When introduced to the songs on the next album, Human Nature II, Floor said in an interview that she asked Tuomas how she was supposed to breath during one song. He said “you’ll figure it out”.

For me, this performance is the easiest one to actually see that it's Floor who is growling. You can really see her mouth and throat, and there's no mistaking she's making the sound. In other videos it's more of hearing that Marko is singing clean and knowing the growl must be coming from the other singer - Floor.

My favorite Nightwish song. Not the most important, nor necessarily the best. Just my favorite. No hesitation in the composing here; everything flows beautifully. And a great exhibition for Floor's voice.

The song is basically Tuomas telling off all the internet trolls. This was the 2nd song of the set, Shudder Before the Beautiful was the opener. From the Endless Forms Most Beautiful album, the 1st recorded with Floor , and Kai on drums. This song, and to a lesser extent, Ghost River at Wacken, is about all the growling you'll get from Floor with Nightwish. Yes ,that was her growling in the chorus with Marko singing clean. She did more of that with her previous band , ReVamp. If you're interested in that band, try Disdain live at Graspop 2010.

Excellent observation about sound of instruments. There are many manufacturers in the world, but Nightwish has exactly those which are pleasing to my ears. They could have the same skill, but different instruments and who knows what my reaction would be. As is, I just have to hear them daily.

This song does not represent how Marko and Floor sing together usually very well, it is very exeptional. Everyone is always confused by him singing higher and her growling! They are insanely talented. In some songs such as 'Weak Fantasy' even voice teachers can't easily differentiate who sings what parts because they are able to meld their tones perfectly. Marko in his own right is an absolute metal god! Back in the 80s his band Tarot (in makeup & full glam getup, very cute) popularized metal to Finland, laying the first stone of what is now the world's heavy metal capital. I don't think there's a more beloved musician over here and he deserves it too. Very sweet man to his fans and always happy to help out other musicians!

Mexico City! What a good choice! Everybody hypes Wembley but the audience and the shots of the audience in Mexico City are more lively. There is a backstory to this concert that may be of interest. In the beginning Floor mentions a live DVD being recorded. Guess what? That DVD was cancelled, apparently because Wembley sold out and they got Richard Dawkings, so Nightwish realized that they had to do a live DVD from Wembley purely as a historical document. There was also the Tampere concert already slated for another live DVD. Doing three live DVD's for one world tour is a bit much, which is probably why the MC DVD was axed. But there are still three songs from this recording that Nightwish released on KZfaq.

I'm a Nightwish addict too! I heard I wish I had an angel all those years ago and was hooked 😀 I have to admit that I did drift away during the Annette years plus some, her voice is great don't get me wrong but it just didn't do it for me. Thomas was still composing some cracking tunes though. A few years back I got back into listen to more music and watching KZfaq where I fell in love with Nightwish all over again 😁 Floor is Nightwish to a tee. Need I say more? They are all insanely good though, and put them together and boy you've got something unique and special ♥️🤘

Great song, ma favorite, fine tempo with a brilliant break down and many little special elements to discover......and of course Floor in olympic form. I think she's at her best when looking a bit mean, singing gritty and agressive, being a boss. By the way: nice to see such an old venue, not to big, a basic stage with a classic curtain as a background, filled with Mexicans. I like it a lot.

Ahhh...The Thamesmen are at it all week long. Nightwish tracks. This may not be my preferred version of Empty Hope (see Tampere), but it's still Nightwish live, with Floor Jansen. As a boomer that has enjoyed music for decades, I have to agree with Alex: Nightwish is an addiction. And as George alluded to...these artists create sounds that somehow expertly fill the comfort zone. A 😘for both Tarja and Annette---both great vocalists. But for me, it all started with the arrival of Floor. Her sound and style are just a preferred fit for my American ears. The magic Tuomas creates would not zenith until he asked Floor to join the band. She went Supernova after joining Nightwish. And her blast wave is the music of Tuomas & Nightwish. I love to see two fellow old guys dazed by the Nightwish experience. And there is so much more incredible Nightwish The Thamesmen have yet to see!

One thing I forgot to mention....Floor has spoken of this during interviews from time to time. Apparently, she was bullied/harassed during her youth, and it was not a pleasant experience. From grade school through high school, some of her classmates did what kids all over the world do. The little jerks picked on the ones that were different in some way. With Floor, it was her accent (different part of the Netherlands) and her physical stature---she was taller than most of the kids. Now, having said all that...can you imagine being one of those azz-crack high schoolers and realizing today you had been picking on Floor Jansen?!!

The truth is that Nightwish just doesn't have more recognition for the fact that it's not a North American band. Quality they have to spare. To this day I don't understand how I had never heard of them before 2020. I've seen several reactions from people who had never heard of Nightwish either.

I was first missing my biggest joy watching reactions on this song: loads of people telling you that Floor did all the growling, but happily after some hours those corrections are popping up. Being someone very much brought up in the same way as yourselves (same childhood tv programmes and therefore humour) I definitely don't take myself too seriously, but when it comes to Nightwish that all disappears. Probably because they evoke such a lot of different emotions - sometimes all at once. I'm guessing that you chaps have enough pending content for a number of years - but if you need anymore quality band suggestions - I'm more than willing to help you out again 😊 Take good care of yourselves 😃

One of my favourites. I’m surprised that you, being very astute musically, didn’t pick up on the fact that it was Floor doing the growling. Perhaps you’ve been out of the game a bit too long! Hi guys. Been a while since you last reacted to Nightwish. Glad you've revisited them. Being originally from old blighty, I'm surprised that Sleep Token seem to have passed you by. Back in January and February they were going viral and even topped Spotify's most listened to chart! Sleep Token are an anonymous and masked collection of musicians from the UK united in their worship of an ancient deity identified as "Sleep", who appeared to the lead singer, known only as Vessel, in a dream. They have a new album out on May 19th entitled Take Me Back To Eden and have released 6 songs off the album, each accompanied by a visualiser (no actual videos). The first two songs they released were Chokehold and The Summoning. Either one would be good for a first reaction. Stay safe 🤘 ✌️

Ohhh, you guys are going to start a war ... there will be two sides going head-to-head over which is a better live version, Wembley or Mexico City. I am rolling out the barbed wire out and digging trenches as I type this; I need to keep the Wembleyites out. This was a great choice of track. Nightwish has a definite sound, a brand if you like, and they stay well within the borders of this sound. And ... when your sound is so damned good, why on Earth would you want to step outside it? You can generally tell within a few measures of a song if it is a Nightwish song or not and this shows their mastery and their genius in songwriting and performance. All good bands understand that to remain successful, you have to give the fans what they want; Nightwish apply this principle very well and deliver incredible songs and performances every time. I am so looking forward to the next four tracks. I love it.

I’m with George, with some bands there is an aspect which shines and catches your attention and you love it but with Nightwish all the elements are amazing and yet the combination somehow seems to still be able to be greater than the sum of its parts. Pink Floyd were similar in that respect as were Yes in their heyday. The only other band that I have come across in many many years of listening that also hit this heady position and yet are still to make an appearance on the biggest stage of all (ie the Thamesmen reactions) are Porcupine Tree. So Chris please get your act together and get some live PT in front of these guys as they need to hear it!.

Timing is a funny old thing, I have actually been looking at some PT performances, after looking at come King Crimson ones...Every band is it's own rabbit hole that leads to other artists! God knows when it'll get there, but it's on the list!

I beg to differ, while the concert is Mexico is great too, the recording of Wembley 2015 is superior. Love it.

@@celtbhoy It’s shot better, but the sound mix at Mexico has better separation of the various instruments and vocals. The Wembley mix is a bit of a mush of sound (not as bad as the tin can boat though) that’s very bass heavy (although I quite like that 🤣)

Ha! "Not Pink Floyd's emotive guitar work" - you need to watch Nightwish paying tribute to PFvat Hartwall Areenavin 2005, High Hopes... You didn't notice Floor growling then? This is one of the best 2 versions of this, Wembley being the other. Each has its stronger points. If you wantbto hear the eerie bit rather better, watch the Wembley...

@The Thamesmen Yes I know. I'm simply suggesting watch it again in your own time and tell me Nightwish can't do emotive guitar like PF. In fact personally I prefer Emppu to Gilmour but of course all these things are personal taste. Similarly with flow of words. Nobody writes lyrics like Tuomas and I say that as a long-time fan of not just Cohen but of Jackson Browne who I considered one of the best lyricists around before Tuomas came on the scene. Here's a little quote a few days ago. Floor was asked various questions about the soundtrack of her life... The guitar hero "I play in a band with him: that’s Emppu [Vuorinen, Nightwish guitarist]. He is an amazing guitar player, but he doesn’t need to fill every gap in the song with meaningless notes. He really keeps the atmosphere [of the songs]. What he plays in Sleeping Sun is beautiful." The singer She falls completely out of the spectrum of rock and metal, but if there’s one singer that endlessly amazes me with her sound it’s Celine Dion. I find her music absolutely cheese-bombs, but that’s too bad, because I love her voice. You can feel what she’s singing. The songwriter "Tuomas [Holopainen, Nightwish]. I don’t know anybody who can write like him. He has been writing music for twenty-five years, had three different singers in his band, and still Nightwish is one of the biggest bands out there. That says something about how good the songs are. I have a special love for Ghost Love Score which is a super-weird song, it’s ten minutes long, but for some reason, it speaks to so many people."

gentlemen, it is (again) time to ask you for a reaction to the complete opposite of Nightwish music "Lorna Shore - Pain Remains Part1-3" they are a blackend symphonical deathcore band and after Nightwish my 2nd passion when it comes to music ( Nightwish since 1997, Lorna Shore since the new singer entered 2021 ) ..singer... :D get ready for beeing stressed by fast paced vocals and metal, but also symphonical art! This video(s) may cause some tears, be prepared ...other question, have you done Nightwish - Scaretale (with Anette Olzon, 2nd vocalist 2007 until Floor) ? when i search your site, it returns the full wacken open air 2013 if not watched, why ? !??!?!
