Thing to remember too about a turf shoe like this is that there was a LOT of football being played on the old school Astro-turf at that time, which was really just some green carpet with a little padding underneath it. Dallas was definitely one of the teams to use this stuff at the time. So it likely was his game shoe more often than not.

He started wearing the Diamond Turf (1) in Atlanta, who played in the Georgia Dome which was turf, that’s really what started the line. In San Fran it was grass so you only saw the DT 2s a few times at away games. I think he only played on turf in Dallas for 2 seasons (starting w/ these DT 3s) before they switched to grass. And yes, old turf was hell. I think that’s why the Cowboys switched; players like Deion, Emmitt, etc. getting turf related injuries.

Jesus Christ that turf in Texas Stadium was terrible. I had a couple games there in high school and it felt just like you explained. Carpet. And it wasn't even soft carpet. It felt like Velcro

Without knowing the origin of this colorway and just assuming it was a random color... I think its kizmit that these match perfectly for where Prime is right now in life. We wake, we live, we type... FOR THE ALGORITHM!

Biggest differences I've noticed from the OG are that they switched to Varsity Maize instead of Metallic Gold, the air max bubble on the OG was a metallic gold to black fade instead of solid black, and the top of the OG toebox where it meets the tongue had mesh. These retros do look VERY good despite the changes.

That same year or maybe it was 95 I got my first pair that I bought on my own with lawncutting money I made and I bought some Larry Johnson converse shoes. I bought in a bargin bin for $40.00 I was the only one in my school that had those for some reason. I loved those shoes but I grew out of them in 6 months.

This is why I always watch every episode on this channel, the amount of in-depth history behind each shoe is fantastic! At 2:43, I see the Nike Barrage at the top right, I had no idea those came out that long ago. I picked them up (the navy colorway) back in 2016 because I thought they were nifty looking, had no idea that they were a retro until now.

Great video bruh! One of the best old school kicks ever. The 90's were the best era. Shot out to Eastbay! N the many pairs I circled n finally got as an adult 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾 there's alot they need to retro now! The Air Raid was the first sneaker I fell in love wit back in 92 n it's been a wrap since then!

I get the QOTD, and I’m glad you’re not tired of the reviews, this isn’t just the hot ones, but most people do get tired of what they’re passionate about because it’s no longer a hobby, it’s a job that you do a lot My dad who works with phones all the time, now doesn’t get excited of new phones that come out for the same reason, he works with so many phones that he doesn’t care for them

MAN, that Eastbay page... I had four pairs on that page. Started with the Speed Turf Max, then got the Turmoil's (white and green), then The Barrage (white, black, green) and the DT Max in white and blue (not pictured) All bad ass shoes. Great times... great times...

Bro, da bomb hot sauce is straight hell. My bro bought a bottle and I put some on pizza thinking the bread would help, but WRONG! I’ve never experienced pain like that with hot sauce. And I’ve had so many hot sauces. I used to eat habaneros with my lunch sandwiches. Just biting into them. I was fine with that. I would also eat scotch bonnet peppers that I grew myself. I only say that to explain that I have a high tolerance for heat. But da bomb hot sauce, man - I think I died for 8 seconds. No hot foods have ever made me tear up uncontrollably and it even burned when I peed. It’s awful. In conclusion, you should definitely try it 😂😂😂🎉

Real nice!! I really wish these had the speckled metallic gold air unit like the OG did. I had them in middle school in 8th grade and I remember that the Max Air unit was metallic gold in the inside. Only take away for me but nonetheless they are still a classic and dope piece any collection

I remember when these first came out and I was not into them. After seeing what came out after these I appreciate them way more. The ones that came out after just looked so generic to me. You could tell what these were from far away and that is something that is super dope.

I hope to see you still doing reviews when you’re my age! Also - I was wearing the Balvin Medellin’s out grocery shopping with my daughter. Some guy walked up to us, said excuse me & she responded - but then he started talking to me about the shoes. 😂 And we wound up talking for around 45 minutes. I was cracking up when we left, saying that I had found my people 😂😂. (She’s not a shoe person so she was just in disbelief the whole time). 😊

I was in 6th grade 96 still remember seeing them on one of class mate I never been so jealous in my life I wanted them so bad my mom got me Reebok for Christmas I guess you don’t understand the money situation as a kid but I can’t wait to see them again this is my second pair but I am probably going to wear them like once a month or something the bottom gets yellow really fast 😢

1st. Great Review. My favorite Diamond Turf was the DT1 that was Black with the Gold mesh and had a dusty blue color on the inside of the tongue. I pulled them from Eastbay or JCPenney's. I didn't wear them much because I also had those White/Maroon/Black Preseason Pump Paydirt that I LOVED!!! But like you said, I did play outdoor hoops in one of my "turf" shoes. It was the Air Max Pro Streak. Wasn't great to play BBall in, but man I was into that carbon fiber forefoot strap. The white pair was the best pair. 2nd. You have a gift and all the knowledge. You've been part of my daily KZfaq for a decade. I'll be sad when I can't see new vids, but just like Eastbay, I'll have old catalogs to look at. 3rd. QOTD : What is your favorite Jordan that Jordan never played in?
