I don’t know what it is about photos I’ve seen from other social media accounts, but the Girl Dad color looks way better in this video. For today’s QOTD: I loved the 2k4s and owned the All Star Colorway (with the LA stitching on the heel). As far as what I would change, the shoe is darn near perfect as is, but I’d switch up the foam to a Cushlon, just to make the heel-toe transition a little smoother. Other than that, keep the Zoom Air, the plate, and more importantly, the strap.

I’d like the Black/yellow Kobe 2 in a Protro. It was the first Kobe I bought back around 2006. I had initially bought a pair of Shoxs at footlocker, but one of the “shoxs” fell off within a few days. I took them back to Footlocker, and the manager told me he’d give me store credit for something else. I went for the Kobe’s because I was always a fan and wanted to ball in them as well. They were bulky but I liked the straps.

I would love a protro or a retro of the 2K4s. I played in the lows and they were amazing to play in. Zoom turbo bags in the forefoot would be my upgrade of choice and maybe cushlon 2 or 3 as the midsole foam or carrier

Another feature is on the medial side of each shoe is a hidden 2 and 4 pattern in the holes/dots. The number is printed out of larger holes.

This particular Kobe 4 is not my favorite, but I started liking Kobe’s Nike line with the 4, so I still like it on a base level. That buttery suede is kinda changing my mind for the better. The 2K4 is a shoe that I felt was made for me back when they came out. They were cushioned, but not so much so that you felt like it took an extra half second for the shoe to bounce back from whatever move you wanted to make before making it. The 2K4 still had court feel and quick response without being hard.

Didn’t realize the color reasoning with this pair, between Kobe’s beanie and hoodie…Chris always insightful…🫡

I would love for a proper black/grey 2k4 retro, as it’s my 2nd favorite shoe to hoop in, but knowing Nike they’ll give us the 2k5, in a brown color way that no one asked for. As for making it a proto. Add flywire on the side panels like the Kobe 4s. Change the foam to react and update the zoom unit, because the 2k4 doesn’t really need any changes

@weartesters - For the 2k4, the first thing I would do would be changing the direction of the strap closure. Having a strap that attached/closed on the medial side of a sneaker, only left the opportunity to be unlatched when playing as one ran on the court. And over time, that strap would no longer attach due to abrasion. Have the strap latch on the lateral side, and problem solved. Second suggestion might be to add a zoom stroebel for for comfort / cushioning purposes. Otherwise, the 2k4 is solid throughout.

I'm on the weartesters website right now and I'm looking a Kobe 4 protro cut in half. I think it would have been best to either do a full length zoom strobel (since it's a little more articulaton vs a regular full length zoom unit) or a zoom turbo unit in the forefoot. Either way, i thought this girl dad colorway is beautiful and I'm looking forward to going in on raffles for them... And probably taking an L on them haha

they can put a full length zoom on the 2k4 and call it a new retro. 😁 they can increase quantity production on kobe protros but then, resellers will only get them more and stock them even more if not sold.

Presently I rate the KB6 and 9 plus the WOW AC12 as my favorites. But the KB 4 on foot looks so good. This particular model I want. Whether I pay retail or have to pay above. I’m a 15 or 14.5 in KB’s.

Honestly, it would be a good idea to retro all of Kobe's Nike shoes that he wore before his 1st signature. Cause that would still fulfill Kobe's objective of having his fans/consumers to play basketball in his shoes, and it's not limiting to just his signature line. Possibly the Hyperdunk 2K8, that would be another one they would need to do again, have it as the original or better than when they were first re-released in the 2010's.

2k4s 2k5s & 08 Hyperdunks Kobe played Olympics in are some of the best non signature I know in the Fade to Black series Nike included the Hyperdunks & the 2k4s were shoe ZERO in that series before the Kobe 1s hopefully they’ll do something like that again.

QOTD: Keep doing Protro Kobes. Not that I've played in many of them, but they seem like great models for playing in based on how common they are in the NBA. A little more availability for people that actually hope to play in them would be great. (It could be like what SB is doing with orange label Dunks right now--a few core colorways are available more commonly for people that do skate them.) Kobes are generally a great shoe and the best ones are competitive with anything out there today, a lot of which take their inspiration from these shoes. Having Kobes out there for sale with the most current tech in basic, team-friendly colorways so that players of all levels can use them is a good thing, and a great way to keep the legacy alive. This particular model looks beautiful and tells the story of a moment in time--that's about all you can ask for in a Protro/retro model. Yet I'd feel guilty wearing them but I'd also feel guilty not wearing them. It's just that difficult still for me to accept the loss of Kobe. He and I are a couple months apart in age and, while he was never my favorite player, he has always been an enormous part of the cultural identity of my generation. the color and materials used on this pair reminds me of the recently released under armour flotro curry 1 low bruce lee jade dragon, both are in shade of green and used suede leather. it's really frustrating that nike does not listen to their consumers, release more kobes! I have not owned any pairs of Huarache 2K4, so I would love to have one in OG form.

Great content, I feel Nike should keep the 2K4 as is and definitely keep the Kobe Protros coming. Also do agree that The 2K4 is over due and needs to be brought back.

finally able to cop a pair of kobes in a wearable size. for being my first, i am very happy with the shoe. i feel nike is slacking on the protro part of the shoe. but other than that, the shoes outer is nice to be more of a casual shoe to wear instead of playing basketball in them.

My only pair of Kobes is a pair of the AD NXTs because you could get them reasonably priced. Unfortunately, the fit isn't great for my feet and I can't really play in them. Would love to play in a pair now that I'm playing again but it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to anytime soon with these resell prices 😕

Personally I’d love to see some of the old hitachi hoop shoes make a comeback as made to original specs. Those are dope. As far as the protros go, I think in the next year or so we’re going to hit a point where they become much easier to get, especially once some of the team bank stuff starts to come out. What’d I’d really like to see is some team bank colors (primarily of the 5 and 6) just be permanently restocked but then have OG colors and more special stuff like the Girl Dad pair be limited. I mainly like the 5 and the 6 for hooping in and I wouldn’t be as bothered about missing on SNKRs if I could get more pairs to hoop in.
