These are some of the most tech packed basketball sneakers of 2021 with an Air Max unit plus Zoom Air with medial and lateral stabilization and a all new outsole design- but judge for yourself if they're worthy enough to be a game day sneaker
As a foot doctor I look at basketball shoes and basketball sneaker technology a bit differently as I focus more on what foot types benefit from these shoes as well as the tennis shoe's functional attributes on the tennis and basketball court
Some of the main areas we cover in this basketball shoe playtest, teardown and performance review are:
- The weight, durability, fit and playability
- What are the features of the insole, midsole, and outsole
- Nike basketball shoe technology explained

Sent my GT jumps back. The GT jump while being my preferred style of shoe just hurt the hell out my feet.Got these 19s and they are a little easier on my feet but a little snug in the forefoot going into the toe box. I’m already getting a nagging but bearable push into my pinky toe in the left shoe only. I’m going on court just to do shooting drills for a few hours before I try to compete in these. I do believe these will need 6-10 hrs break in time, which is fine. There’s a difference between snug and slightly uncomfortable vs real foot pain, so breaking these in shouldn’t be a problem. I’ve got the fourth color way release and the grip is ok. Of course cornering is an issue just due to the physics of the shoe. At 240 lbs and getting up in age impact protection is a primary concern. Crossing my fingers post break in I’ll be able to use in game. If not back to my tried and tested Lebron 10 Elites (carbon lateral plates)

@@DioNero The are snug in the forefoot and overbuilt in general. I went back to the GT Jump and they are working better once I put a custom insole in. I have a buddy that got a pair of Lebron’s and he loves them. Also the traction is limited. If you have even a bit of a wide foot they will bother you on top.

Great review of the shoe. I am a Bron sneaker collector and just recently picked up 2 Bron 19s, and they are extremely comfortable. The one thing about the shoe I don't like is there is some torsional twist between the forefoot and heel at times. I sat that when comparing to his previous models.

Interesting. I switched from Jordans to Lebrons with the 15. The Lebron 16 is one of my favorite shows of all time. I damaged/tore the ligaments around that bone on the side of each of my feet playing beach volleyball and rolling them BOTH WAYS when landing on less-skilled players' feet as they went under the net. The 16 even before that was a monster with its Herringbone grip and lockdown and just general feel. I have a BUNCH of these that i rotate. I just purchased a Lebron 19 to give it a whirl. The jordan's and many nikes in general have been getting much more tight in the front part of the foot, particularly on the pinky toe side. The lebron line seems to be much wider (similar to mizuno shoes). I'm ready to give the 19 a shot (when it arrives), but it sounds like if they would have used that GODLY herringbone traction from the 16s... then it would be a fantastic shoe. I'm a little surprised that the tread goes all in the same direction. even if they adjusted it a bit in directions of the tread. The tread is honestly the thing i hear the most complaints about. I have pretty high arches, and with the injury, i've been using Arch Rivals inserts on advice from my orthopaedic doctor.

Great review, as always. Totally agree about weight distribution making a shoe feel lighter, well articulated here and overlooked elsewhere. The weight in ounces isn't very instructive, if it's a sock on top of a brick it'll feel heavier and more labored than something with more weight that is better distributed. Ditto for height, sheer appearance dictates very little. A friend I play with asked me if these were heavy and restricted movement at the ankle and it took me a while to convey this to him (I considered just handing him the shoe lol). For me traction has been great. I play on a pretty lousy group of hardwood courts but took them to a smooth concrete court once and had no issues. I did get the EP pair from Asia, so that may help the cause since those have a harder and slightly thicker (I think 8mm) sole. These are, like almost every LBJ model a straight line shoe equipped to pivot and change direction in tight spaces. Anyone expecting a Kyrie or Curry type feel just doesn't have realistic expectations. For me these are a huge improvement over the 18s, which suffered from really uneven weight distribution and a lack of heel-toe transition fluidity/speed. These were great to wear around but not so great in action. I do miss the amazing knit uppers from the 17 and I guess the 15 also, but for a no frills textile these get the job done nicely, like the foam upper on the 14 did

I've had these for about 6 months and the right shoe is really digging into my achiles to the point where I had to take them off because it fell someone was stabbing me with a knife. 190 EUR down the drain. I might try they KDs next.

Thanks for the Help, i got the shoe, only downside is if your lighter the air max doesnt cushion as well as it should, its a bit harder to get it to cushion

I have a pair of Lebron 17s and I can't even count how many times I have sprained my ankle in the limited times I wore them because of absolutely zero lateral support around the midsole. they did not fix it for the lebron 18s. but seems they finally fixed it for the 19s which is good to see, but the damage was done and the 17s sit in their box put away. such expensive shoes too at $200

Hey Zach, great video. I’m wondering, if you can somehow get a pair of the LeBron ambassador 13 (you can only get it from GOAT as far as I know), could you review that? I’m really interested to see how that performs. It’s a huge departure from any of the LeBron line and LeBron himself prefers to wear that over the 19’s (and last year’s 18’s) so I’m curious what you think of it. Im glad I stumbled upon your channel! I really like the amount of different things you test out on each shoe. Performance reviews on KZfaq are not a new thing but you really are pushing it! Can’t wait for you to grow huge in the near future!

Thanks for the review!! My first time playing in a few months was last night and I tried playing in my old lebron 8's. Actually found with all that cushion in there my Patellar tendon wasn't quite ready for all that push off force so def felt it in the knees the next morning. Was considering these but think I'll go for KD 14 based on your video on that!

I have this exact model. Looks amazing but its hard to do anything but jump for rebounds. What alternative would you recommend has great cushion but better flexibility? For context, I own and use the Lebron 18, Lebron 19, and KD14. I love the 18 and KD 14. 18 for cushion and the KD14 for the flexibility while having a pretty strong cushion.

I have these shoes and I wanted to give my opinion on them. Honestly,I don’t know much about basketball shoes because this is my first pair so I don’t really have any to compare them too. I definitely notice the corners it kinda felt like I was slipping. On the other had running in them feels amazing, I ran a whole mile in them and they feel very light and bouncy. I usually brush my feet together when I run every now and then, and I thought it was just me but none of my other shoes have any damage on the inside. I always have issues with the traction, it feel like it’s dirty at the bottom and they’re especially slippery on the balls of your foot, but I think I’m just too tiff with them because my friend doesn’t have problems normally. If there was one thing I would change it would be the plastic lip on the top of the show because if your socks aren’t tall enough they dig into your legs and you get cuts. Even if your wearing the correct socks they still damage my socks so I put bandaids on the plastic part. Other than that I love the shoes and they’re very bouncy.

Update: I’ve had these shoes for about a year now and the side of the shoe where the laces are held up by the small accent string has broken on both shoes and I can’t really wear them anymore.

So sad that I cant get those at 12,5/13 size. Looking everywhere, some suspicious stores have them, but none of the 100% legit ones. And other color options are nothing for me.

Hello foot doctor Zach, my name is elden pierce and I recently just started playing basketball again and I'm coming off a Injury and I was wondering what kind of shoes I should get, I've looked at some of the videos on your channel about the LeBron 19s and the Jordan why no zero 0.5 and the Injury im coming off is ankle injury, so what would be a good supporting light shoe for me because I don't wanna a big shoe like LeBrons but I like the ankle support but the Jordan's are light but don't have thr best supporting. So what should I do.
