The Nike Legend Essential 3 Next Nature is the latest model to debut in the budget-friendly Nike Legend Essential line.
After feeling like the Nike Legend Essential 2 was a letdown, I was excited to put the Legend Essential 3 to the test to see if the updates make this model a stronger training shoe in the gym.

Overall, I think the Nike Legend Essential 3 Next Nature is a step in the right direction for the Nike Legend Essential line.
This shoe's upper feels better and the outsole tread on this model is also more aggressive for general training on different surfaces.
For beginners and intermediates on a tight budget, these could be viable training shoes for general lifting and cross-training.
However, this model will have its limitations and its durability isn't the best, so if you're more specific or serious with your training, you'll want to go with a shoe that matches your context better.

Really good review. I have a LE2 and even getting a number above I feel the toebox is pretty tight. Do you think this one is wider? If it's not then I would definitely need a bigger size still. I use it mostly for jumping rope and casual wear so weightlifting is not a concern for me

Eh, it will feel a little wider, but it's not super noticeable, IMO! I'd tread lightly if you go with the 3!

I have the LE2. I'm loving it. I use it for les Mills classes, HIIT Light lifting. I can wear it for full day comfortably, from day time office to evening gym. Guess I got narrow feet. It expands a little after a year of wearing. I'm only 48kg, probably that helps prolong life span of the shoes?

Likely so! Weight/training settings can vary durability a ton, too! You also might just be better at taking care of your shoes compared to others 😅

You're welcome! I'd probably go SuperRep Go 3. It's a little more comfortable and a stronger performer for comfort/versatile training/HIIT.

I would not! I like the MC Trainer 2s better. They have a better sole construction, imo!

hi! i am looking for a shoe with good stability and ive seen most of your shoe reviews, im an intermediate lifter but i will be doing this for a while now that i am back to working out. ill be using it for boot campsbut not running. so i was thinking eithe this shoes or the metcon 5 or the drop set 2. can you recommend which one i should get ? (i tend to lean back with my squat so i need a flatter shoe i think? ) thanks in advance :)

Free Metcon 5 will feel better for boot camp, but Dropset trainer 2 will be better for lifting. I’d opt for the shoe that you think aligns best for your training bias! Thank you!!

The Legend Essential 3 is okay. You could also explore the UA HOVR Rise 3/4, Reebok Speed 22 TR, or PUMA PWRFRAME TR. All of these models should fair pretty well for your needs and I think these would last longer than the Legend Essential! Keep me posted on which you go with!

Hi Jake, thanks a lot for your informative reviews! I am a 5'2''/120lbs girl doing home workouts for quite a while (barbell, dumbbells, treadmill sometimes), but I don't lift too too heavy. Do you think this would be a nice shoe to train indoors? I just want to invest in a good shoe, because I only have running shoes and I've been using them for 2 years now but they're probably not the best choice for the type of exercises I do. So I'd like a shoe with a decent traction, but I also don't want to spend a lot for a shoe I'll only use at home. Thanks a lot!!

great review. why do they remove the outsole from under the arch? that seems really dumb. 225 lbs squats isn’t much unless your going all the way down into an Asian squat which would then be a lot.

They are definitely comfortable and feel good for short runs and sprints. Wouldn’t recommend as a daily runner. The Nike Pegasus 39 is top tier budget friendly daily runner I’d recommend
