I just saw this band in San Diego at the Gator on the Bay festival. Electrifying. Jagger-like energy with Etta James like vocals but IMO, better than both. NO ONE was seated. Old farts like me were leaping in the air. Near hysterics, even tears. About as tight as a rhythm section gets. Bass is executed with authority and precision. Bonham-like drumming power but better and tighter. Incredibly rich guitar work when Hill & Chavez are together, fucking sublime. Reminiscent of 1972 Stones "Tumbling Dice" when Mick Talyor joined Keith Richards, but the NHB are better musicians. But Nikki's VOICE. Holy shit. Tina Turner meets Little Richard. She projects and infects the audience with so much energy, it's exhilarating and exhausting simultaneously. Miraculous. As if this wasn't enough, GREAT original songs. All this and they can write too? That omnipresent Achillies Heel of most bands is totally absent here. If this isn't superstar material, I don't know what is. Try to find them performing a song called "STRUTTIN". A nominee for the most perfect example of pure Rock & Roll I've EVER heard...by anyone...ever. I admired their incredible talents, but the style is too midtempo, folksy and lacking in dynamics for my taste. To that end, when there were just two supergroups, I therefore migrated to The Stones over The Beatles who exhibited much more raw, exciting energy.
