Interesting watch. I'm an Irish addict and I have both the book and audio book. Nikkis year of addiction isn't a patch on the reality of the average person and the hell we go through. He had constant funds, he didn't have to prostitute his body, or rob passerbys, or sit on the wet city streets with a cup in his hand begging for spare change to buy a 10e bag. He didn't face waking up sweating, rattling, dying of dopesickness with his constant ounces that he bought, his dealers on standby ready to deliver at any time of the night, I could go on and on and on etc...if anyone wants to read a proper honest memoir of the horrible reality of addiction, then I seriously recommend Mark Lanegan from the Screaming Trees memoir, Sing backwards and weep. What that man went through was unreal, but that's the real horror and hell of addiction.
