In this episode we are working on the 2014 Ford Mustang 5.0 coyote engine, and we start it out of the car. After making the engine run we start cutting the wires that we dont need and making sure it still runs. The next thing to do will be to make the engine fit inside the Cobra kit car. Also we are doing a custom sign giveaway. Here is how to enter.
1. Comment Cobra

Mike & Ivan you guys are really making something out of this burnt out Cobra! Wow once you get this machine running & driving it should be one wild ride! I like how you got the motor running out of the car & cleaned up the wiring first! It should make final assembly a lot easier! I am already looking forward to the next video!

Super interesting. Amazing what it takes to make a modern engine run with all the computer components. I was impressed that you figured out that problem in only 3 hours!

Just have to say: I loved working on old school engines....to get them to run? Power wire to coil, fuel line ground. That's it lol......yeah, you could run a power wire to the starter or just use a the positive jumper cable to the + terminal. Operate the carb/throttle with your finger and you're done lol

problem is they aren't 450 horsepower and get 25 30 mpg and retune themselves for weather, altitude, humidity, shit gas etc.im with you on simplicity but an old carbed motor is nothing like this beast

I worked on cars back when you only needed a power wire to the coil, fuel line to fuel pump and positive to the starter. Operate the carb with your finger tips. DONE. You could re and re a motor in an hour.

what I would have done is check each time I eliminated something. Remove abs check...ok.....remove seat controllers, check...ok.....remove power windows....check...ok.....Tedious but would have saved them the 3 hrs at the end. I think it's utter nonsense though that car makers have power window switches communicate with the ECU. I had a battery go dead in my F150 and the windows wouldn't work after. Talked to a mech and he said the ECU had to "re learn" that the truck had power windows. What bs. To make power windows work you need a + and a - go to a switch. You do NOT need a printed circuit board with data cables running. The window switches were simply DPDT switches that lasted for 30 years. Now? highly sensitive soft touch switches that are subject to corrosion.

Instead of reworking the Mustang transmission, use the 4.6L trans that came out of the cobra. 4.6L and 5.0L coyote stuff is interchangeable. Also, Ford racing sells a setup for about $2k that includes harness, O2s, throttle pedal, and an ecu that has the immobilizer disabled. The harness only requires power, ignition, and ground. It also provides the needed analog gauge outputs.

Currently building a FFR roadster coyote myself. I imagine you probably already know all this. But FormaCars makes a shift adapter for that transmission, but most people use TKOs. With the TKO you may be able to use the same driveshaft from the 4.6 vs making one for the MT82.
