With his 4th tonight, Nikola Jokic has now passed LeBron James and Oscar Robertson (3 each) for the most 30+ point, 15+ rebound, 10+ assist Playoff games in NBA history.
Nikola Jokic has now recorded his 6th triple-double of the 2023 Playoffs, tying Magic Johnson (1982) and Draymond Green (2019) for the 2nd most triple-doubles in a single postseason in NBA history, trailing only Wilt Chamberlain (7, 1967)
Nikola Jokic is now the 4th player in NBA history to record three or more consecutive Triple-Doubles in the Playoffs, joining:
Wilt Chamberlain: 4 Games (04/09/1967 - 04/16/1967)
Draymond Green: 3 Games (05/18/2019 - 05/30/2019)
Russell Westbrook: 3 Games (04/19/2017 - 04/23/2017)
Led by Nikola Jokic’s 34 points (12-17 FG), 21 rebounds, and 14 assists, the Denver Nuggets defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 1, 132-126. Jamal Murray added 31 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists for the Nuggets, while Anthony Davis (40 points, 10 rebounds) and LeBron James (26 points, 12 rebounds, 9 assists) combined for 66 points for the Lakers. The Nuggets lead this best-of-seven series, 1-0, with Game 2 taking place on Thursday, May 18 (8:30 p.m. ET, ESPN).

I swear, Jokic never takes a bad shot. I'm a warriors fan, and I get the feeling every time I watch the guy he's in complete control. He controls the pace of the game, he's the engine, he's finding everyone in their spots. And when it's time to boogie, Jokic is such a gifted bucket getter. Hooks, fades, jumpers, pull ups, post ups, second chance points, cuts. People keep saying he's slow and out of shape, but Anthony Davis didn't seem to have any answers for that spin move. If thats slow, I'd be terrified to see fast lol

@@robertlewis6562 facts! I think it's literally just cause people think he looks funny with how he moves. If he moved more fluid, Jokic would have so much more respect given to him. He's got maybe the deepest bag in the league, but you never hear him mentioned when skill and shot making is talked about. Which makes no sense. Guy has so many ways to put ball in basket. I feel like it's him and Steph for most skilled in the league. Steph on the outside, Jokic on the inside. Hell, Nikola Jokic could probably average 25 on one hand!

I’m a Denver and Jokic fan but he took quite a few poor shots at the end of the game tonight which led to a few stops by the lakers closing the point gap.

@@nonstopper During the 4th quarter, the Lakers switched Rui on Jokic and had AD guard the paint, so making that adjustment closed off a lot of Jokic's options for driving to the basket and passing lanes to his teammates. It will be interesting to see how the Nuggets adjust to this in Game 2, since the Lakers are not going to back down now that they see this works

he made it look easy but if for example, lebron or someone as intelligent as he is studies jokic until next season comes. dial down the athleticism and play like jokic, i dont think they can be as efficient as jokic. things you cant easily copy from jokic are, height and the vision and reach that comes with being tall.

Actually, they nearly stopped him when they switched Hachimura onto him. Because waht they really did was switch AD OFF of him, which allowed AD to roam around the lane. Great adjustment but Darvin Ham. But I am confident the Nugs will find their own adjustment. My bet is pulling AD into high pick and rolls as often as possible, to pull him away from the basket. They may also need to avoid switching Murray onto LeBron, since LeBron was relentlessly hunting Murray. The chess match is one of the best parts!

Defense is the final frontier. If he can become even 1/4 of what AD is on the other end, he will be the GOAT. This requires training and nutrition on another level though.

I'm proud and impressed that Nicola doesn't have any tattoos. Also, arriving to the games with a suit looking sharpe. What a way to set a good example to the people looking up to you. I'm not a Jokic fan because the biggest guy on the court should dominate. So I've always cheered for little guys like Curry. But what Jokic did against the Lakers was pure art and world class basketball at the highest level. Unbelievable domination of Anthony Davis. He made Davis look like a high school kid. And he was outrunning Davis too. Didn't expect to see that running part. Wow!

There's no solution for Jokic. You can make it harder for him but you can't neutralize him. Jokic will be Jokic. The only question is how the rest of the team will cooperate and whether AD can be at his best in every game of the series. If not, the Nuggets will finally make it to the finals.

Not really, its all. Darcins ham mistake, dumb started 3 PG’s for no reason going small. He then did the same mistake in the 3rd quarter. If he had started hachimura since the beginning it would be a Laker win

World class game, enjoyed every second. Never saw a game where both team were so efficient. I cant believe how AD dominated and Jokic still played better. In this one game you could see perfection from offense to defense on both teams.

It's not anymore about that mvp trophy, this is some Hall of fame, all time greats, Classic Playoffs performances s***. He is UNREAL! There is so many things that you can't see unless some really great basketball coach explains to you. I understand NBA's marketing but at this point it would be stupid not to acknowledge one in a 50 years GREATNESS.

They should give up the domestic big city markets bias and the racial bias and acknowledge the opportunity to tap the European and global markets by doing less to suppress Jokic's dynasty building. Let's hope the officiating isn't too biased toward Celtics vs Lakers marque TV match

If Murray and MPJ do not fail in the remaining games (like they sometimes do), Nuggets will win the series. Otherwise, even if Joker scores 50+ points, that will not be enough. He desperately needs a constant player, like Steph had Klay back in the day. Good addition to this team was Gordon. That was really a wise choice. They need an additional constant player without an ego and with a nice and humble personality to fit the team.
