I think they could mean that its clear. Sometimes bassist sing in a way that It sounds a bit muddled, like it's hard to make out what they are saying. But in this case he sounds not only deep but there's a feeling of clarity in his articulation. Well, it's not like the other bassist sing bad or anything, of course, but some are able to produce more clear notes than other (sometimes it's due to external factors like the quality of the recording, acoustics of the room, and even the very composition of the song and it's lyrics).

Mind you he's not in the original key. He's only up a semitone from the original but in that register that small amount can be a big difference. Never the less , this was a extraordinary performance.

Перфекто!!! Какая трогательная композиция. Три дня назад подсел на тему окатавистов и вот три дня мычу. Установил приложение и замеряю свои низкие ноты. Пока рекорд С2 но только в первой половине дня. После 12-00 тыква лопается, волшебство пропадает и довольствуюсь D2. Поставил себе цель А1.

I am a contra bass for my Methodist church. He sings all chest for this piece at Least.

I wouldn’t have thought there would be the need… the notes in this piece are not particularly low for a bass voice.

I mean for a regular bass it is quite low. But for a basso profondo it doesn’t go that low at all. A regular bass may be able to sing this and can often go down to C2, but a basso profondo can sing the notes in this song almost effortlessly and can resonate quite well.

the oktavism channel clarifed that pavel is actually a bass baritone, he usually goes down to d2 in chest but he developped a very sofisticated subharmonic technique that sounds very similar to chest. There is videos of pavel singing in his natural baritone tessitura.

Нет, Вам не кажется. Всё по классической партитуре. Необычно только то, что исполняет мужской квинтет. Обычно это расписано на полный состав хора и солиста -баса-профундо.

There is far too much production on this. It doesn't feel like a live recording. Each individual singer has been separately recorded with his own individual microphone in a studio, fake digital reverberation has been added, the five parts mixed together, and finally they have recorded a live video and dubbed the studio audio over it. At least, this is my hypothesis!

I wonder why the transposition. The singer sounds as if he could easily reach the notes in the standard version (and he does not attempt the low ending.)
