Nikon goes mirrorless & Kills off the DSLR & F glass lens production

Nikon have recently announced (2 years earlier than planned) that they will no longer be producing DSLR camera bodies & the "F" glass lenses that we have all loved since 1959. They will now concentrate on "Mirrorless" camera's and the new "Z" glass.
Sadly though until they produce a "DX" format mirrorless camera aimed at professionals and advanced amateurs, something like a Nikon D500 then I will be sticking with my DSLR as a Nikon Z9 does not give me the reach I require.
Anybody who has recently invested in the latest Pro Nikon D6 will now be kicking themselves as its value plummets I guess?

The Z9 in DX mode will give you that reach. You can leave it in full frame and just crop which is essentially DX.

Yes that's interesting but it still only delivers what I have now and other than also offering a silent shutter I still can't justify the expense. Thanks for the post.

@@wildlifesnapper1 actually the AF is way better than any DSLR included the D5 which I own two, 20 fps RAW, 30 & 120 fps in JPG will the ability to capture image before and after the shutter is released. I personally dont know the reality of wildlife photographer, but I am sure the features of the Z9 cant hurt. The Z9 costed much less than the D5 in 2016 and a way better camera.

@@garyyee7818 thanks, I know the specs of the Z9 but as a wildlife photographer it's not going to offer me anything better image wise than my D500. My AF works well and the Z9 may be better but it doesn't justify the expenditure for me. If Nikon bring out a DX version of the Z9 then that would interest me but I don't need full frame and for now will continue with my D500, in fact I have just purchased a 2nd body, that's how much I value this model.
