I'm just relieved the whole Nikon is dead narrative has evaporated. Having invested in the OG Z6 after a long break away from photography, because i genuinely preferred it to the A7lll and Canon R on offer at the time, to be told i had invested in a dying system was stressful. The toxicity in the photography online communities, more gear focused than on actual photography itself is a mystery.

It's absolutely none sense, but you do have to be careful. Brands these days, sometimes, and particularly Canon or Nikon, tend to abandon certain bodies if they're not successful enough. I'm not seeing this happening anytime soon with this body or any recent ones, but it's a thing. These 3 brands, Sony, Canon and Nikon, they're not going to die, and it's even less likely in the camera market. The cameras, they've gotten so good in terms of image quality that, when you hear for example, you're in a disadvantage regarding DR in this or that situation, and then you see the image, it's like, it's practically the same. What do you mean by disvantage? It's actually pretty funny. On the other side, the toxicity that you mention it's real, but you shouldn't have to feel bad about your purchase, it the camera produces what you need, who cares? I prefer Sony for example, but because I started with their camera back with the first SLTs, cameras that I truly love by the way, especially the articulated screens. But, no one really cares, only extreme fanboys. So, go out, enjoy the camera and keep shooting mate. Have a good day.

I agree. I purchased the Z6 on release day, after visiting my local camera store and holding it in my hands. I’ve never experienced any of the complaints I kept hearing about. The main thing to remember is that a lot of these KZfaqrs aren’t real photographers so they require a system to be dummy proof. That’s why I enjoy this channel, because these 2 guys aren’t dedicated fanboys. They really give you the facts from an unbiased user perspective.

I'm not so sure - Nikon seems to struggle to get products to their customers - and it's not just because it's the chip shortage. That's the biggest risk to their bottom line.

@@richrollin4867 I can honestly say that I’ve never had any issues getting products from Nikon until Covid and the chip shortage hit. I’ve shot with Nikon for almost 20 years and have purchased 10 bodies (7 dslr, 3 mirrorless) and 18 Nikon lenses, majority of which were either preordered or bought on release week without any delays. I also shoot Sony and they have suffered as well with the chip shortage, so it’s not just affecting Nikon.

Sony a1 and (former) a7IV owner, here. If it's anything like what Sony's done with those two cameras, you'll be well off with the less expensive options when those features do trickle down. Flagships are for those that want zero compromise and don't mind paying the early adopters fee. Anyone that buys the later, more affordable models will likely benefit from all the bugs / expense the early adopters went through. Good luck!

It won’t happen because of the sensor - the z9 is something new, so it’ll be a z8 or z70 … new model. I expect anyway
@Ritalie
@Ritalie 2 жыл бұрын
Yes exactly. If they could make a video focused model, like a ZV6 or something with a lower megapixel sensor, and with much less "sharpening" on the image, and modes to create cinematic footage without the harsh Z6 "over sharpening." And if they could just put the same auto-focusing style algorithms and chip design on a smaller camera, it would be a less expensive alternative to the Sony A7 III.

Excellent review. I agree with Chris, the Z9 is a big mutha and I'm no spring chicken, with arthritic wrists (do chickens have wrists?). So I was disappointed when it became apparent that the Z9 would c/w integrated vertical grip: I'd gotten used to the lightness and compactness of my Z6s. But, boy, what a joy the Z9 has turned out to be! I've just had it for 5 weeks and a day with 2.0. I've been shooting Nikon cameras since I bought my first FM, around 1980 and never splurged for a "flagship." I think it's safe to say I hit the jackpot with this camera, or should I say Nikon did? Yes, as a Final Cut user, I'm hoping Apple will support N-RAW but, as Jordan says, the internal 8K H-265 10-bit is really quite lovely -- certainly will be my most-used setting for video.

Great review as usual gents. Sincerely glad that Nikon have finally caught up in the mirrorless game. Shot with a D750 & D810 before switching to the Z6 in 2019 and after three weeks of struggling with the erratic focus system I went over to the dark size. Initially the EOS R now R5, which focus system is miles ahead of the Z6 & Z7. Fingers crossed for Nikon to release some new prosumer bodies later this year with some of the key Z9 features. May tempt me back.

Yesterday I played with Z9 for a while. For a wildlife photographer like me, Z9 is the way to go. You don't want to change your batteries frequently on field. There is a reason why Pro bodies are with integrated grip. I don't know how you tested camera with Wildlife photography in mind, but Z9 surely has the advantage over A1 because of big body.

Jason, talk to me. I almost moved to Sony (and have several friends that did or moved to the R5). I'm just curious why you switched back (Have another friend that did the same thing). Specifically, I'm interested in the things that you felt were so important as to make that expensive switch (Video?).
@jasoneldridgephotography

@@dance2jam I actually wrote an article on just that. There were three reasons and all are subjective. 1. The Sony Files: They were different than what I was used to with Nikon. The best way to explain it is with a sing word. I felt the Sony's were "clinical". I was able to achieve the end result I was looking for so really it wasn't a reason as much as a contributor. 2. Ergonomics: I have big beefy hands and when shooting the Sony all day I would walk away with blisters and sore spots on my hands. Still, I thought the buttons were well placed and very customizable. 3. Sentimentality: I started on the Nikon F100 waaaay back in the film days. Nikon was just what I was used to. Everything was familiar. This all said I don't think anyone could go wrong with any of the big three and even Fuji if it is what you like. They all make great cameras. So, find the one that makes you want to get out and shoot or provides you with options you might not otherwise have for the type of photography you do. Hope this helps... If you want to read what I wrote last year it might provide some insight: www.eldridgephoto.com/articles/2021/3/1/there-and-back-again

@@jasoneldridgephotography Of course I'll read what you wrote Jason, and thanks for the response. I'm not down on any brand, but I like learning about what people feel the limitations are on any product (and realize things change). So two of my friends that switched back to Nikon: One - couldn't keep the sensor clean on the Sony cameras and did time lapse for major brands (stuff they put on their TV displays) or construction companies. Second friend: Said portraits /skin tones were never correct, shots were clinical, and if not shot at base ISO revealed wrinkles more than other brands because of the tonality. Not sure I really have that last part correct. The only digital SLR I've used was Nikon, so I was curious. Thanks for providing the link.

@@dance2jam I love my Sony A1 with the 35-150. I also have the 150-600 and a couple others. Sony a1 i think will be the top camera for a while still. I think it is so advanced that there's no need to upgrade. The af alone is far more superior and now with the new af and video firmware update I'd say its extremely hard to beat. If your pictures are not turning out with either camera it's the photographers error. Even in most literature and real world reviews sony af among other things keep coming up on top. With unbiased reviewers ofcourse. I think the Sony is a little power house and if you need that extra grip you can put it on. You don't have to carry that extra weight especially when your hiking taking pics of wildlife and you have one of those huge lenses to capture your subjects. Plus with it's compact size it's more versatile so you can use it with most gimbals. If we're talking about serious videography that's huge plus. You dont have to spend more money for a larger gimbal plus all the add-ons you would use with a cage. This compact size would help keep the weight down which people dont realize how cumbersome these all that can be. So that compact body is perfect.The Sony a1 body alone is extremely versatile. And don't forget Sony makes sensors for most of these cameras including Nikon. So where would Nikon be without Sony tech. As for working in the dark i don't need gimmicks to get the job done. It's called muscle memory. It's not hard to memorize the buttons. Plus all the third-party lenses. Nikon to call this it's flagship i think is a huge error considering the z8 is rumored to come out.I just think people like to jump on the next new not necessarily the best thing. No loyalty imo.

We will see about that - they haven't been out long enough (and need more evaluation) but you might be correct (still waiting on the 600mm f/4). Lots of people talk about the potential for all the Z9 technology to trickle down into other cameras in the future line up. Some of it will but it is worth remembering that only a some of the technology will make it into smaller cameras. The flagship cameras are in a different league. They offer more customisation, more capable video, bigger battery, faster burst rates, more focussing choices, more programs and quick changes in set up. There is a lot of technology in the Z9 and not all of it will make it to the Z6iii or Z7iiii / Z8. What would your feature list actually include (in order of priority)? What could you live without if the first 4 on your list were the only bit of technology to make it?
@Youtuber-ku4nk

@@Gr1ff1D0 My number 1 priority in Z7iii/Z8 is image quality (dynamic range and color depth). I know that means adding a physical shutter and that is totally okay for me. In essence it would be the equivalent mirrorless of the D850. Next is ISO performance. Third is autofocus tracking.

One thing NO ONE mentions is the DX mode and how good it is on this camera. Unlike the D850 what you see in the view finder is exact what will be captured by the sensor (like a Nikon D500) and onto the memory card. No having to make sure the frame is framed within a small box/guides in the center of the screen and loosing frames because you have to be worried if the parts of the image you need in the frame are etc.. The images are easily on par with the Nikon D500 for those who need to replace their D500. Its also cool how you can use your FF glass and shoot in FX mode nd then put on your DX glass change the image capture mode to DX and shoot at the crop (and 21MP). Nikon nailed the DX mode in this camera as good as they nailed the video features.

Since this is my first mirrorless I love the ergonomics of it and I’m also not bothered by the EVF since I play back images through the screen. Chimping on the back is way easier than holding the camera up to use the EVF and I’ve trusted the autofocus after the first five frames so I know if the exposure is good in the EVF the autofocus is nailed if it makes sense even at 60fps in the viewfinder. Currently shooting a major volleyball event with two Z9s with 2.0 firmware. I've had then Z9 since first shipment on Dec 23rd. The 2.0 firmware really makes a difference and makes this the camera I had hoped I was buying. the 120hz screen update ... I forgot I had enabled it until I realized how much more comfortable the viewfinder was. The AF is much much stickier and agressuve about finding eyes, even when the face is very small in the frame and the new group settings are really making a difference for me. Previously the Z9 struggled so much shooting through the net that I had to workout a special, lanor intensive technique to get good results. Now the Z9 is way better at ignoring the net (not perfect, but so much better I mostly don't have to worry about it - whereas before ... well, it was a big issue) This was my first day with the new firmware, but the camera really had me smiling!

The Z9 truely is a special camera. I have only had it for a little over 4 weeks so I am still discovering lots of details and learning. Every time I use it, the camera shows me how wonderful it can be. I like the form factor especially when I use it with a long prime lens on a gimbal (you need the weight to balance the longer lenses properly). There are some strange little habits it has that I am discovering and working around. It can for example, decide to refuse to focus on a bird on a branch, especially small rosellas, if it cannot pick up the eyes when the bird looks directly at you. It is however happy to focus on the same bird when it is partially obscured in a roof gutter. It snaps back into action the moment the bird starts to fly- so manual focus has to be called on at awkward moments. That said the rest of the time it does an amazing job finding subjects and gaining eye focus faster than I can even locate the eye looking through the viewfinder. I like being able to trust the camera to focus and concentrate on expression, details, composition/framing, background set up and anticipating action. I have so many choices now when I look at the results of a quick burst. As you say, if you are a Nikon shooter and can raise the capital, this is a no brainer. The Z6ii is also now a lot easier to love as a companion camera with an alternate lens, using up very little space in the bag, for the times you see something which needs an alternate set up immediately. The Z9 is big and I love the stability and flexibility that provides. The benefits of the large body, large battery and control system that a fully worked out professional and rugged camera provides is not to be underestimated.

No camera is perfect (and I love my Z9) but, as good as the ergonomics are on the Z9, there are issues for some. I don't have a problem with the memory card door, but a lot of people do. I have a problem with the Fn 1, Fn2, Fn 3 buttons feeling awkward in location (my hand size) and uncomfortable if you are holding the camera horizontally all day to reach some of them without straining your hand. Vertically, only the Fn 3 button is really reachable. Then there is the AF/area mode button on the bottom left of the camera being in a difficult place (yes, I know you can reprogram that function many places). My fingers also have issues finding the EC button and more often hit the ISO button. The rubber covers over the ports are also grouped and not individualized (exposing several to elements if uncovered instead of one). There is no longer a meter mode button (yes, again you can use the i menu or program it to a button (like the microphone memo button). Listen, I could be labelled a Nikon fan boy (although I'm not), but ergonomically perfect. No Sir. Not for me.

Weight: Heavy (I'm on a tripod a lot), but that said, the D850 with D5 battery and vertical grip was the actually heavier except when you add the FTZii adapter on the Z9 and then they are both 1400 grams (approx.). D850 DR at low ISO (better). Shooting experience: Z9 hands down. Memory Card door (some many complaints at first) - not an issue. Hold the camera in your left palm, push the switch back and down with right thumb. Quick and easy for me. Menus: Good, but could be better. Features: Packed (could have more - i.e. not just a count up timer for long exposures, but image update). As a Nikon shooter, I was waiting for a sports/wildlife/action camera that was in the family (rather than move to Sony/Canon and have to purchase new glass). The Z9 was that camera and I haven't put it down since. P.S. I think it would have been more inclusive if you had covered use of flash and the Z9 as well.

I love my Sony A1 with the 35-150. Not sure why people would think the A1 is even competitive with the Nikon z9. The A1 is $1000 more to begin with, to get the battery grip is a few hundreds more, also Sony's choice to use a CFexpress card type a in the Sony A1 is also mysterious. A1 and Z9 photo capabilities are about the same but yet Z9 has much better video specs.

Needless to say but the EVF looks incredible to me lol and the size is a touch smaller than I’m used to… so yeah, I love this body, it’s soooo nice to have a full frame sensor and the 45 mp ability to crop much of the image and still have quality is incredible.

Absolutely love my Z9 (only had it for 2.5 weeks as of this very moment). I also have the Z7ii and used to use a D850 with the add-on battery / control unit. That was a great DSLR but I prefer the feel of the Z9, it just feels right in the hands. I have never used a higher resolution EVF so am d not concerned by the fact that there may be sharper ones out there, I certainly do not find the Z9's elf of any concern and am more interested in the output user experience this unit gives, It's build quality is absolutely second to none and I see this camera being with me for many, many years.

@SwanSycorax
@SwanSycorax 2 жыл бұрын
@@pm-ec1fc There are many, many "professional" reviewers here on KZfaq that can do far more in depth detailed reviews of the AF of both cameras. However, my personal experience is that for many every day photographic jobs the 7ii is superb, however, I was very frustrated with the speed and tracking when photographing birds in flight especially, and other aspects of wildlife photography when time and accuracy mattered. Even with Z9 firmware 1 I immediately felt the difference and got far more keepers than I ever did with the 7ii. I have yet to attend an airshow since getting the 9 but when I used the 7ii to photograph fast flypasts in burst mode I found the EVF couldn't keep up with the motion of the passing aircraft which led to missed shots. I am looking forward to trying the 9 out in this role as the season is about to start. I carried out a portrait shoot in a dark studio with strobe lights to nights ago. Using the Z9 every shot was perfectly in focus (using the eye) whereas in similar shoots with the 7ii I had had trouble with getting the eye focus to lock on under the modelling light. Just some personal observations. As I said, there are numerous reviews out there which will go into much more detailed information.

@@pm-ec1fc I do not own the Z7, but I can theoretically answer this question. The Z9's processing engine is 10x faster than the Z7ii's. That allows it to perform 120 auto exposure and autofocus calculations per second. That said, you need a lens that can keep up with that performance (i.e. to help the OSPDAF - on sensor phase detect AF system work better - wider aperature / more light / faster focus motors). As @Brian Dandridge mentioned, he wanted to photograph BIF (fast moving objects) and quick, accurate AF is obviously important. The engine in the Z9 is just that much faster than the duel engines in the Z7ii.

It’s wild seeing so many Z9 owners in the comments, obviously very happy. It is equally wild seeing such an overwhelmingly positive Nikon video after the flak the Z system has received since launch. I have an original Z6 and was blown away by its high-res 3.69M dot viewfinder, because the EVFs that I used before it were awful for manual focus, and often on cameras with unreliable autofocus (can you tell I haven’t used a Sony newer than the A7II?). To me, the Z6 already offered significantly better performance and much cleaner image quality than the 5-10 year old I was using before it, so I was very satisfied with the Z6 for my use. I think it’s nice to see Nikon giving a camera that has the beautiful image quality and great ergonomics that I have been enjoying all this time, but offers high level features and has the capability to do everything that other people need.

Thanks to you both for your real world take on the equipment we all use or want to use. I am completely won over by the Z9's technology. I put my hands on one this morning. It feels great---but way to big and heavy for my use. Compared to the D850 and 70-200---still doesn't matter. I too would like to see the Z9s tech filter down to a more 'compact' version. There will be compromises--hopefully not with the AF system and 'auto' sensor shield. Waiting impatiently.

Hope you get your wish. I also thought it felt heavy but I own the D850 (with vertical grip and D5 battery) because I shoot sports, action and wildlife. I put the D850 on a scale and the Z9. Z9 was not only a bit lighter, but more compact. Once you added the FTZii adapter, they were virtually the same weight at 1430 grams. Again, the Z9 felt more compact/stout and a bit easier to hold. If you don't shoot with the D5 battery and vertical grip, you're correct. D850 lighter and better DR all day long (esp. at lower ISO).

no it's not. I have a d850 and a d4s, the d4s is way easier to carry around. you can't feel it in your hands. you don't have to grip it at all. I like the feel of all D8x0 bodies but the pro cameras have that extra ergonomic feel.

I guess I need to clarify something. My point is that the Z9 is just too big and heavy for me. I love my Z6 with Z glass. 20.7 oz and 5"x4" (approx) compared to the Z9 47.3 oz and 6"x6" approx. And yes, one has an integrated grip and the other does not. So, I used the D850 as a Pro comparison without the grip as well. 32.3 oz and 6"x5". The Z9 is still almost 50% heavier and almost the same size. I'm hoping that the new Z camera will be somewhere between the Z6 and D850 in weight. And FWIW..if you add the FTZ to the D850, the weight will still be 10 oz less than the Z9. And yes, the Pro cameras with grip have a great feel...but that is not my priority. My comments are not in anyway to detract from the Z9 or other pro cameras with a grip...just a statement of opinion and fact regarding the bulk and weight. I want the Z9 tech..but not with the weight and bulk. I'll wait.

Here I am in a waiting list to get my hands on to one, still going to be using F mount glass since I've got almost 2 dozen lenses but still thinking the 800 f/6.3 would be a great lens to add to the stable, even though there's no more space in the already giant pelican case. For what it is the EVF resolution not being optimal to review pictures isn't an issue, that's what the larger screen is for.

Sounds like Nikon has fully arrived on the mirrorless scene and the Z9 is the "best hybrid camera" on the market - Gerald Undone has said so, and he is definitely not a Nikon guy and now DPReview has said so and they traditionally have not been Nikon people. I am glad that I have stuck it out with Nikon - I thought it would pay off and it has. Something that is generally not mentioned much is that the Z glass is excellent and as a complete line is higher quality than the competition - they also have more lenses with less focus breathing than the competition. When they release the Z6III and/or the Z8 - I will be getting them - both if they both exist - the Z9 is just too big for my style of shooting but if it were not I would buy it in a second. Since I think that the Z6III and/or Z8 will be out soon (in the next 12 months) I can easily get by with my Z6II's until then - they are already really great cameras when you know how to use them. Thanks for the video and the honesty.

I thought that the larger size and weight of the Z9 would be bothersome, especially carrying it over a long day, however, it practice, it just hasn't been as big of an issue as I thought it would be. That being said, all of my current gear bags are designed for a smaller body, which means I can carry one less lens in my normal travel bag. The other issue with the larger format is that my gimbal is over taxed with anything but a shorter focal length prime lens, which reduces my options. The evf res hasn't been much of an issue as I was used to the lower resolution of the previous Z cameras, and I absolutely love the starlight mode for astro. It isn't a perfect camera, but may be the goldilocks of the R3/A1/Z9 trio available at present.

I used to just go around with a larger photography bag, but these days a lot of the times I run-and-gun it with a smaller bag. It's really nice to have the Sony camera body slip into the smaller divider that I have, making room for another lens to go in that bag when I need to make a decision about which lenses to carry with me. In crowded situations I can easily handhold the camera, no tripod or monopod to get in the way, even when shooting video for a long time. It's funny that people who have known me for a long time and have actually been interviewed by me with MY camera, weren't able to tell if I was taking stills or doing video, thrown off by the fact that I was just holding the camera in my hands, looking through the EVF.

Integrated vertical grips are fantastic. Every camera I've ever had for 20+ years has had some annoying intermittent connection problem with attachable ones. I really need the 40MP X-H2 to have an integrated grip or I can see a Z9 in my future. You don't really want to be recording any kind of 8K on a small battery anyway, so just drop the pretense. Also, Fujifilm usually makes the vertical grip mandatory anyway since they insist on putting the headphone jack on it, and possibly a full size HDMI port this time.

The Z9 has soul and the A1 doesn't... Having shot both I am not sure what that refers to but ok. What the A1 has and the Z9 doesn't are zebras in the EVF when shooting stills, the ability to set 2 focus buttons on the back with different AF parameters for those who use BBF, a third wheel on the back for easier manual Iso implementation. I still find the ergonomics and implementation of the A1 more convenient for stills, but the Z9 video implementation and quality is unmatched - if I shot more video it would be my pick but being more 90/10 stills / video there are a few comfort features in the A1 that make a big difference for me. Either way, the Z9 is awesome, soul or no soul :-)

This news shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who’s been paying attention to Nikon hardware over the past decade or so. Since Sony Semiconductor (which has gone through a few name changes over the years) has been producing image sensors, other manufacturers have been purchasing their technology, including (but not limited to): Canon, Fujifilm, Hasselblad, Leica, Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax, Phase One, Samsung, Sigma and others. For the EVF... How is the brightness, since Nikon says that it is much brighter than others?

While I get the criticisms/complaints about the "lower quality" EVF specs on the Z9...for me, coming from my D810 to the Z9, the EVF is spectacular. Granted, I had nothing to compare it to besides my D810, but I think that's something to keep in mind. A few of us long-time Nikon loyalists are transitioning from the D810/850 or D750/780 or D4/5 type cameras & we're not as nitpicky about that. Could it have been better, as you say, for a flagship professional camera? Sure. But with everything else that is jam-packed into this camera AND that 2.0 firmware update (& who knows what other firmware updates in the future), I'm beyond impressed & stoked on my Z9 purchase. Worth every penny. That said, this was a great review summary 🤙🏾

Z9 tech sounds good for future tech camera . i also like a small camera that's why I grabbed an Sony A7C, the EVF and the flip screen sucks on the A7C, I would love a bigger EVF and a tilt screen like the S1H on the A7C and more knobs . So if there are headquarters from major Company like Nikon or Canon reading DPReview subscribers comments, that have a minute to call Sony to do what's necessary on a A7C MKII, thanks

What kind of tripod are they using in this video, is that a Leofoto Urban series? If so, any ideas on which size?

After the D5, i just waited for a mirrorless replacement,,, a long wait so i got the Z6 to join my D850, at first,, well not love at first snap but i was growing. Soon the D850 was nr2. Then roomers started to been heard, Z9 a mirrorless monster, hell yeah :) And i waited and waited, then one day the fist announcement, it is true, it will come . God damn i was fast on the pre-order as soon it was possible. Then a new era of waiting and waiting. But one day in January i had a call, -you will have it next week, happiness was a fact. I shoot a lot of model and portray, it works more than perfect, i shoot wildlife as my relaxing hobby (but im on a new wait for the 800pf) and it works more than fantastic. At my other work (outside my own company) in the Air Force, i just wait for some time up in the blue for the hardcore test with Bigfoot (Z9) and the 24-120 that i think is a superb lens up there, ok it will be horrible when the G starts to press the arms down. So my though about the Z9, well total love and if you need a monster, just get it :)

Does the Canon R5 & R5c not exist? How could this pair not be mentioned, especially the R5c. Bizarre.

Why would those two be mentioned alongside the A1 and Z9?

@@livejames9374 Why would they not? High resolution, 8K, RAW internal video in both FF & APSC, high rez EVF, waveforms, I could go on, but it’s obvious why they should have been mentioned.

The size is an issue… until, after a while, I went back to my Z7ii… I found it so small, and less stable in my hands… when I use longer lenses, the extra size help the balance as it feels so good in hands… after that… not sure yet if the size is an issue, but when traveling?

I also thought it odd that they didn’t even so much as hint at canon, but dropped Sony comps throughout and even Panasonic. Maybe they think canon doesn’t have an equivalent body to match the others? Or the Nikon money truck only comes if they pretend canon doesn’t exist lol who knows

Z9 offers a lot of features that not everyone needs so waiting for this technology to show up in a Z7iii makes more sense for many.

I currently shoot Sony A7R IV and Fuji. It strikes me that the Z9 is a game changer for the market as a whole. Canon are I think, as much as I like the ergonomics stuck down a dead end. Their glass is incredibly expensive and they have bet the farm on people only needing lower megapixel sensors. Fine for a lot of work, until it isn't, and the competition is getting ahead. Even Fuji has a 40 Mp stacked sensor camera coming out this year.

Sony (2015): Sony will concentrate on full-frame cameras in the future to beat Canon and Nikon. Fujifilm: Our (APSC) Cameras will beat Canon and Nikon by 2019 Olympus & Panasonic: We will use MFT cameras to beat Canon and Nikon Pentax: We will be the only one selling DSLRs when Canon and Nikon are dead. Come 2022: Canon already defeated Sony in MILC sales from Nov 2021-Jun 2022. Nikon Z9 topped sales in 1Q 2022 for FF & Canon R7 topped sales in APSC.

Nikon just need to get stock out there now and they'll have a good chance at grabbing more market share. I'm wanting a gripless equivalent as I don't need as large a body.
