I wish I could study and train on guitar with this man. I have always loved his playing and I never knew who he was until about 6 years ago when I pucked up a guitar again. When I first heard this man play I was a kid and I always wanted to play like him but I didn't know who he was but I love what he could use a guitar to do with a song. To me he is the best.. None other... He is and has definitely been an inspiration. Thanks Nile...

Unfortunately, I've never written any hits and I'm not claiming to be of any importance, but I've been a musician and songwriter for many years now, and this has always been the method I've used. Before smart phones, social media, and KZfaq, back when information wasn't as readily available, I used to feel guilty when I wrote something which was inspired by a song I liked. I never plagiarized, but I would take different elements of a song and rearrange it into something of my own, yet it left me feeling like I wasn't very original. Then, as I read more books about my favorite artists, and as I was able to do more research online, I found out that many songwriters often take inspiration from certain songs when they're working on something new. I also have a huge catalog of phrases, riffs, chord progressions, and beats that I wrote that didn't end up getting used or didn't materialize into a song, but I saved them because I thought they were catchy or worthwhile. Sometimes I'll be working on a song that might need an intro, bridge, or whatever, and every once in a while, I'll find something from the catalog that is a perfect fit. Other times, I might be in a writing rut, and find something old that gives me new inspiration. So if you're an aspiring songwriter, dont be afraid to tastefully borrow from others, and always save and record everything you write, even if at the time it seems like it's going nowhere.

I Mr Rodgers. I was in Juan and the show was amazing! Many thanks to you. I have a question for you : do you remember whick kind of bass guitar Bernard Edwards (R. I. P.) used for recording the original version (in studio) of "we are family"?. God bless you and your family.

Nile!!! Thanks for posting this!!! Trying to find the song you referenced-would this be the Children of God the religious organization or a band of that same name?
