Nimbin, Australia, Travel Video Guide

15 жыл бұрынBack in the early seventies Nimbin became the alternative lifestyle capital of Australia. Many of the original communes are still set up today. In recent times Nimbin has become infamous for its annual Mardi Grass festival which celebrates marijuana use.
I interviewed Neil Pike, one of the original hippies to arrive in Nimbin in the 70s.

Wonderful place. I went there for the first time on mother's day took my whole family with me. It was great! Laid back and beautiful community.

Nimbin looks like a wonderful place! I can't wait to visit! I am a young hippie from San Francisco, and I am planning on visiting Nimbin next year...looking forward to hanging out.

hey overlander just wanted to add that the mardi grass does not celebrate marijuana use, it is a law reform rally peacefully protesting every year until cannabis is legalised..

I've been to Nimbin many times:-)It's a great place if you like weed,mushies,acid and stuff.Police stopped us once and we had like 20 hash cookies and said "Be careful with those if you eat too many they'll give ya a headache :-) " I was so stoned at that moment and i pissed myself laughing :-) Weed is not legal in Australia but for a small quantity nobody will bother you!

@rawfflecakes yeah its just too bad that so many of us Australians are too apathetic about the whole thing, I've been wanting to start protests and rally's but to no success. It really makes me feel terrible to be Australian.

I suggest people align themselves with the the National Liberty Party and legalize marijuana, look them up!

Nothing wrong with H, just shooting it. Nearly all drugs but speed ice etc arn't bad for you. It's just the fact that non-legal drugs are not pure, thus leading to problems. Using all drugs too much is not worth it, once you get tolerence it's just a waste, so i say legalise it all and get some bloody control. Junkies arn't bad only bad junkies are bad. Same with people. Argue with me if you please, just use facts. Peace.

been many times but the days before hard drugs took over were the best....beautiful place, love the locals but yer, certianly a lot more needle pushin junkies than there were when i was going there 20 years ago...sad really

Used to live there when needles were laying around everywhere.Was there 2 years ago It's all been cleaned up.Very laid back again.
