Honestly, from a business standpoint if Nintendo were to announce a successor they're better off waiting until February of next year. If they announce it in September, it'll tank their hardware sales during the holiday season.

Even with Switch 2, Nintendo isn’t going to be cutting off Switch 1 for quite a while. There’s still going to be a bunch of games next year releasing along side of whatever comes out for Switch 2. So we might get another direct.

The next 3D Mario or Mario Kart were always gonna be Switch 2 exclusives, so they had zero chance of being here because they’re not gonna put the Mario Kart before the horse. Like, I won’t deny I’ve been critical of you suggesting a Switch 2 game teaser in the Direct, but I never counted the idea out. But the fact is Prime 4 is coming to current Switch, so it was the one of two games they had here that was even feasible as a one last thing for what they showed. The other being Mario and Luigi since both were games people had zero expectations would be here, IMO. But for the topic at hand- it’s hard to say, but this is likely the last Direct for Switch. Like, I could see a September Direct still that focuses on what they revealed here that has yet to come out, third party stuff, and maybe a few smaller titles for Switch that will come out after the successor drops. Your Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn and Captain Toad 3DS equivalents. Or maybe we just get a partner showcase, since we surely have more Indie and third party game updates.

I think that they will have a direct in September, but it will probably be as big as we thought this June direct would be. I think it will air before Zelda Eco's of wisdom. I think it will have new trailers for Mario and Luigi brothership and another trailer for Mario party jamboree. I think it will have a small reminder that the 2d Zelda is coming out soon too. there will be no Metroid prime 4 trailer (only maybe a Menchen) before they announce that they have a port of prime 1+2 in a bundle for like 40$ (just like pikmin 1+2), and it will come out after the direct. they might do the wind Waker and twilight princess thing, but only maybe, and if it did happen it will happen alongside the second trailer for Eco's of wisdom. the big reveal at the end of the direct is that they will have a show case for the switch 2 sometime in November after Mario and Luigi brothership releases. in the switch to showcase they will show off the new hardware, the specs, and they will give us a release window. I think it will come out some time in April. they will also show off the switch 2s version of 12switch, Wii sports, Nintendo land type game that shows of the hardware (I hope it is like Nintendo land because that game is so good). then in January of February they will have a direct showing of the year one games of switch 2, it will probably be Metroid prime 4 that will lunch with the switch 2 as well as be on switch 1, a new 3d Mario, a new Mario cart, and an Ocarina of time remaster (this remaster will be on the same level as Metroid return of Samus remaster or the wind Waker hd remaster).

If July passes and there is no reveal of Switch 2 then I wonder about September. I suppose it could still be a Switch focused Direct. Maybe we get the first Switch 2 trailer in October. However I think they could combine the Sept Direct with a Switch 2 reveal and talk about games for both systems. Either way we're only a few months at most from a reveal.

September Direct will be a mini showing off more of their already shown games in June. Jokes aside I don't think the September direct will be switch 2 focus as that might mess with sales of some games.

We are still waiting on that Star Fox Assault Remaster, Kid Icarus Remaster, Oracle of Seasons/Ages and third Oracles game Remake, Windwaker, and Twilight Princess Remaster, Super Mario 64 remake, Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time remake, Mario Kart X, etc…

There will be a September Direct! Unless the Next Switch is unveiled before or at Tokyo Game Show, said Direct will most likely be the final one the current Switch has all to itself. Honestly, I suspect CES to be when the Next Switch is unveiled. But in the meantime: Expect a Pokémon Presents as soon as next week which may reveal a port for the end of this year, and further news concerning the Metroid Prime series in September. Also, something for Donkey Kong on NSO, but not necessarily from N64, probably Game Boy.

Judging from this recent Direct, the lineup of games still to come and Nintendo Wording of “They will Announce the Successor to the Switch by the End of the Fiscal Year” (April 2024-March 2025). I am starting to doubt we will see anything before 2025, which could also mean a release might not be until Summer or Even Fall Time but I think that might be fine Considering we still have Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, Pokémon Legends Z-A and Metroid Prime 4 Beyond to keep us entertained for the first half of 2025 while we wait.

Metroid prime 4 absolutely cannot be for switch 2. If it was for switch 2, the game wouldn’t be compatible on Switch 1 console, which is the console that people owned who placed pre-order years ago for MP4. I STRONGLY DOUBT that the recent Summer Nintendo Direct from a week ago is the last Nintendo Direct. I still STRONGLY think that Nintendo is obviously going to do another Nintendo Direct in September (which is what they usually do). So, with that said, there will still be a next Nintendo Direct focused on the current era Nintendo Switch before Nintendo THEN moves on to the successor console (remember the ONLY Nintendo will tell us WHEN policy I follow matey).

I believe the switch’s final direct would be the fall direct for this year which is in September. The June and the fall should be the switch final directs for the switch as Nintendo’s primary focus and console. And now that the June direct is over, we have the fall direct next. I believe we will still have the fall direct. Then they can reveal the next console next year in 2025. After they reveal and release the next Nintendo console, the switch would only have three or four year left on the market after the next console releases and is revealed. I believe Metroid Prime 4 beyond is both a cross gen for the switch and the next Nintendo console.
