While the first salute of a commissioning officer can be an emotional moment, a first salute between father and son is unmatched.

Behind The Brand:
Talk is cheap. Many brand's virtue signal, talk about setting the example, being a voice for good, but never follow through. Since 2012 the quiet professionals at Nine Line have put their time, money, and energy behind initiatives to set the example for our children to follow and have led from the front in the fight for the American way of life.
In the military, the term Nine Line is a distress call. It is often the difference between life and death and symbolizes the trust our servicemen and women have for one another. As a company, we aim to offer our customers a platform to spend their hard-earned money on apparel that reflects their values and give them the chance to wear their beliefs on their sleeves. As a lifestyle brand, Nine Line aims to reinvigorate a sense of patriotism and pride in our country that has eroded within our society.
At its core, Nine Line is a give-back organization, striving to give back to the military and first responder communities that fought and died for our freedoms. From first responders and military non-profits to disaster relief initiatives, Nine Line is committed to the ongoing support of charitable initiatives that better the communities they serve. Additionally, Nine Line remains committed to the notion that if we need it here, we should make it here. Since its inception, Nine Line has remained committed to these three main tenets and will encourage others to ANSWER THE CALL in their own way.

Truth. I want my daughter to do better than I ever have in life. She is well on her way on that path, and I'm so proud of her even if she is only 11. She's well on her to do an outstanding job in our society. What an amazing kiddo she is!! Everyone loves her!

I separated as a SSGT of the greatest Air Force in the world. Her dad just made Senior, always told him he'd be CMSgt someday-- her step mother, commissioned. Outstanding role models she has in her life, and I want her to be and feel no need to ever "survive" -- but live her best life.

Some days, I am saddened that I'm not with her as I once used to, but it was in the BEST interest of her. Not to be selfish and fight-- knowing that I do not have the mental capacity due to PTSD-- I'm a great mother to care for her when she visits, but ultimately - I'm NOT the better parent due to instability in being able to hold a job. I do have my Masters and she swears up and down how proud she is, but the perception I have of myself -- just doesn't fit with what I want her to perceive of HERSELF. I want her to KNOW her worth and her kindred spirit -- so I ensure she does. But I feel I lack so much, I couldn't give her the quality and well rounded life she deserves.

@garretburnette5286 2002-2018 I regret taking "retirement". Brother, there are ways you can serve our country when the next opportunity arises seize it. My grandfather was a badass devil dog 1st Marine Division. The tools they had to fight with against fortified positions while being greatly outnumbered is that legend. It was a wonderful day when I was promoted to be a lieutenant in my fire department, my dad a Navy vet who served in Vietnam, was able to pin my silver bars on my collar, and he got to do it in the very living room where I as a little toddler once crawled all over his lap like he was my personal jungle gym. So many special moments in that room. And now the pride he had having the honor to personally pin me, my dad who is now wheelchair bound, managed to stand up that day just long enough to pin me and give a hug.

Yes I’m sure it is but being a marine master sergeant is way more difficult. In about 8 years the marine corps will pay his son what they pay him in retirement. He’s has a lot to be proud of in his son and I know his son has a whole new appreciation of his father is. After I completed recruit training I finally understood my dad and he became my hero again. Pops had served in ww2 Korea and Vietnam and was one of the first air sea rescue swimmers. He retired in 66 and then went back to Vietnam in 68 and 69 with a cia front company. I got and went to college and went back in after I graduated college. Dad was the real deal and I was just fortunate to serve.

@@johnathonmullis4234I feel this deeply man. My dad upon coming to my army BCT graduation ceremony had tears in his eyes and finally called me a man for the first time. I asked to be excused and went to the bathroom crying that my dad finally acknowledged me as a man after 18 years😭 he was calling EVERYONE in the family and some of his Army buddies on video chat to talk with me for a very brief moment I received many thumbs ups that day from many people whom I didn't know but felt I shared a connection with it was a magical day "Hey man! You finally did it!!" Dude I died inside when he finally said that. "You have no idea how proud I am of you son, you finally became the man I knew you were capable of being. I had faith in you when you clearly did not have faith in yourself. I told you when I dropped you off at the recruiter office that you had this and I knew you would graduate. I'm proud of you son" 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 this man did 23 years and retired as a lieutenant never once showed any emotion about anything so for him to bring hugging me and crying was the only time my whole life I saw him show any emotion. I have a picture of him wearing his uniform when I got home and I put mine on as well, we took a picture of us shaking hands and he once again had tears in his eyes I have it hanging to the right of my graduation picture of all my fellow shit heads gathered around. 😅 Those were the best 4 years of my life, 2009-13, however I will never go back.

For anyone missing any context, what I can assume from this is that the father, a senior Non-Commissioned Officer with some serious service history is rendering the first official salute to his son, a newly commissioned Junior Officer, meaning the father is, for the first time, actually outranked by his son.
