The Ninja Air Fry Max XL is one of the best-selling air fryers on the market. But is it worth buying? I’ve been using it almost daily for several months, and in this review, I break down the pros and cons.

I have a ninja 15 in one foodi. I absolutely love it. I can cook almost everything in it. I really like that it saves electricity, most items that I used to bake in the oven, now I use the Ninja foodi. 😊

Have had a two-compartment Ninja air fryer for almost a year and just never using metal instruments in it kept the coating in perfect shape. Get that metal spoon away from it, use silicon instruments !

Switched to the Foodi 7 in 1 grill and griddle a couple months ago after a few years of solid service from the Max and I'm been considering unretiring this beast. The air fry cooking speed is definitely superior even though my new foodi has a heating element on the bottom. What made me "upgrade" was mostly its form factor being more tall than wide, which is actually largely mitigated by my late discovery of using the broiler rack as a 2nd air fry food layer. I guess the same design that annoyed me at times also contributes to my new found appreciation for it. In hindsight, I probably would have been better off getting a 2nd one of these and stovetop grill and griddle for my use case honestly. I will say that the reviewer's complaint about the crisper plate being loose is EXTREMELY unwarranted in my case as well. The SUPER tight grip seal is actually annoying at times. Maybe you lost the rubber pegs that attach to the sides of it?

You scratched the crisper by washing it with the wrong side of the spunge. You must only use the yellow, less abrasive part. Also noise ? Its not at all.

The design of the basket is a consistent flaw of all Ninja Air Fryers. I think the Instapot Vortex series (to slightly lesser extent) the Corsori air fryers have ideal basket drawer cooking surface. The depth of Ninja baskets are also a problem. I would not say this is suitable even for one person. Especially at the price point.

I get your point but it's definitely large enough for 1-2 people. It cooks 4-5 chicken thighs, 2 breasts, 2 pieces of salmon, etc.

@@PrudentReviews I have found that cooking chicken legs and breasts in a Corning ware glass pot with glass cover in the oven at 350 degrees for one hour with your sauce and a quarter cup of additional water is the best tasting chicken ever... Much, much better than out of my Ninja...

You’ve answered a question I can’t find anywhere else. I have the 4 qt Ninja, that just totally stopped working, (acts like not plugged in), so I’ve been looking to see of there’s a difference in the diameter of the 4 and 5.5 qt basket, and you’ve shown me they’re the same, only the larger is deeper. But if you can’t stack food, what’s the use? I’ll order the smaller cheaper version.

Thanks for such a helpful review. I really don't like the small size. It looks too small for bacon, among other things.

I've cooked bacon a few times. You can fit ~5 strips but you have to bend them to fit and move them around a few times to cook evenly.

My fave (but least common) thing to do with these air fryer beasts is to "warm up" 3 day old takeout pizza 😅 To me it tastes 90+% as good when it first arrives 🙈🤷 Sometimes BETTER if they didn't cook it enough to start with. Soggy crust syndrome is REAL lol

Is the non stick coating toxic? What chemicals are in the coating?
@PrudentReviews
@PrudentReviews 9 ай бұрын
Good question. I had the same question, so I reached out to Ninja and they said “the basket is made with ceramic non-stick coating and there is no Teflon in use.” I couldn’t get more specifics about the material but there’s no credible research that I’m aware of suggesting ceramic nonstick coating is toxic.

@@PrudentReviews Yes, as far as I have been able to ascertain, ceramic coating is safe. I use it in my frying pans too. I use the Ninja. I got it as a Christmas gift last year. But, I really don't feel very successful with it. I find that it dries out food and I can't easily check on the progress of the food as it cooks. I have much more success with a good frying pan. I can check on the progress of the food. Also, with a good ceramic pan I don't use cooking oils and longer. In any event, thank you for your reply... :)

Im seeing more and more reviews of air fryers being compared to actual ovens and they all end up saying that the air fryers end up with crispier food that taste closer to their actual deep fried taste. Im not entirely sure what classifies as vegan but they did talk about french fries and such which are vegetarian in the least if that helps you…
