That is just so not cool. Not that I expected this knockoff to go sailing majestically through the stratosphere - not with those dinky blades wobbling atop his noggin - but I at least thought it would do SOMETHING! While I’m bitterly disappointed in those treacherous bootleggers, it was still so awesome watching this fantastic video, especially my favorite part, the ending skit, which always leaves me rolling on the floor laughing (no exception today!). I received a similar toy as a gift. It's a ball painted with the likeness of Grogu with the same propellers and mine is official. Basically, it flies up, then slowly down and by placing your hand or something else under it, the IR sensors will make it fly up again. It's cool for a few minutes.

Donatello has gotten out of hand with his inventions. He installed drones into the shells of the Ninja Turtles. Good thing Venus passed on getting one.

With a bootleg toy with blades and a blinding light, I was afraid Phelous would end up blinded after this episode.

Looks like it is using IR rather than RF so try a TV universal remote. It sounds insane but using the search mode you might find the combination that turns the props on. This is one of those hovering toys that only can go up and down and usually hovers a few feet off the ground so the internals are the simplest of drones. The "foot hole" is a distance sensor. The crotch is an IR reciever.

The sad thing is, the ONE thing this bootleg has over the official merchandising, they painted the weapons. Even when they're on sprues. I'm surprised there hasn't been any official TMNT drones. Seems like something that would become major shelf warmers in various Five Below and Marshall's stores, like all the Marvel, DC, and Star Wars ones.

The mechanism here is probably taken from these cheap drone toys for kids I've seen online the past few years. They're designed to hover at a specific height over your hand (hence the foot sensor) and you can direct them by blocking them horizontally with your other hand (they try to move away, ) but as this has a remote and not the sensor ring of those toys, I'm guessing it's supposed to be thumbstick controlled. From what I've seen they do tend to break rather easily.

Upon first glance the actual toy looks pretty official. This looks like something I would see at Five Below, which is a store that sells cheap novelty toys and other junk.

If it's infrared controlled, you could have tried a tv remote, often the frequencies overlap on remotes, and from the "manual" on the box, you only needed one frequency to match to get it to work.

The recover is IR, so if you have something like a wii remote, old tv remote, or default atgames sega console / retron wireless controller, there's a chance a button on those might work. If you really love wasting time and money, you can get a universal remote and run through its autoconfig to see if any of them might work.

I know what this is a ripoff of! It’s a Minnons toy! I have seen the official version at my local Walmart. It has a remote and it’s a Minnon right out of the Minnons and despicable Me franchise. So it’s basically a Ninja Turtles and Minnons crossover product! Good job on your toy review. Despicable Me is still a fantastic movie in my opinion, I’m not as fond of the extended franchise but I’m a huge Turtles fan! Great ending skit by the way!

OK, KZfaq ate my comment. If you look up induction flying toy, you can find other versions of this toy except with helicopters, balls, Disney characters, Marvel characters, and so on. Looks like this company just cranked out bootlegs of all kinds. And from looking at the ball version, looks like you're supposed to hold it in your hand (or give it a push?) after it is on for a few minutes and control it by your hand with its infrared sensors. Or something. The remote is just to make it stop. Looks like other people complained about there not being a remote, too. But maybe you can get a working remote from one of the other versions. They sell them at Target and Walmart.

When I was a kid I had a bootleg of the original Playmates Raphael action figure and it came with weapons for all the Turtles as well. I guess it's a tradition. I broke that figure's arm off literally on the first day, and it's not like I played too hard with it. I guess their quality is a tradition too. Though maybe it's unfair to complain about this drone's quality. If you don't have the remote you'll never make it work. The switch only works to turn the signal for the remote on. Without it you can't spin the blades. At least that's the case for every drone I've used. Maybe call Nightwolf so he can hack into the figure.

I recall seeing a flying toy with similar blades, controlled supposedly by hand gestures and the presence of obstacles, with no actual remote control included or (supposedly) necessary. No clue if this was meant to be similar or actually need a remote.
