Correction: RW 2 should start with 3 dc. NOT 4dc.
Today's tutorial is on the Slanted Shell Stitch. This stitch is great for scarves, blankets, pillows, and many more items. It has a similar look to the C2C or Corner to Corner stitch but it is worked in back and forth rows. The Slanted Shell stitch works up quickly and easily. It's a good stitch for the new crocheter who is ready to further their skills beyond the basic stitches.

Thank you for this pattern. I would just like to add that if you keep your hook facing you, you will find it easier to work

C2C is a process that often uses the slanting shell stitch. 😉 C2C can be worked with ANY stitch!

What about a hat?Can this stitch be done in a round, or a rectangle that can be connected - I’ve been looking for a more “ stretchy” crochet stitch for making hats. I’ve been using the half double, HDC.

I have not done this stitch in the round but it probably can be done in the round.

Thank you for the tutorial! How do you finish it off to make the last row flat?

Excellent question. Allow me to get back home and I will be able to answer your question. I want to make sure I have stitch counts correct in my head first. ❤️🧶

Did you ever get an answer of how to make the last row flat ?

So is the second row where you started with 4 double crochet a mistake or should it be 4 ? Just want to get it right .
@NinjaBunnyCrochet
@NinjaBunnyCrochet 2 жыл бұрын
No, it should be 3 dc. That is a mistake.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! My grandmother made this stitch and I’ve been trying to figure out which of the many similar patterns it was that she used. The only question I have is ending the final row. How do you end so it’s not “wavy”?

Could you maybe do one more row along the top consisting of something like sc/hdc/dc or tr the thing,to make a triangle to fill in? My vcurrent project has leaves that do that kind of nonsense and it makes for a beautiful tapered shape. That might work here?

You can try this. ch 1, sk first dc, sl st in next 3 dc, sl st in to ch sp, ch 3, 3 dc into ch sp, continue with pattern. I have not worked decreases in the is pattern. You might want to experiment with the decreases with a swatch before working on your project.
