An extensive breakdown of this sort of depth is much needed. This really lets people know that Japan is within their grasp and they can easily scale up or down to cater a trip specifically to their needs. Great job, Nathan!

Japan is certainly in reach of most budgets.. unfortunately the key is the initial flight cost!

Yeah, sounds very similar to what I end up spending on average. I aim for accomodation at 70 euro average per day, sometimes staying in cheaper hostels, then fancier places on other days. This month’s trip is the first time I didn’t need to book hostels, as hotels were still crazy cheap at the time I booked, shortly after Japan reopened.

During my first trip to Japan, I also stayed at one of the APA hotels. It was in a perfect location - very close to Ueno station where trains went directly to Narita airport, very close to the center of Asakusa and not far from SkyTree.

Very informative, thank you! 🐵 This reminds me, we need to do a cost breakdown from our December trip too, although this level of detail won't be possible... So this video will be nice aid whenever planning our next trip! By the way, I was surprised to hear that we were able to get cheaper flights straight to Japan without layover, from Finland with Finnair, around 1200€ per person.

🐒Thanks for sharing Ninja, my JAL return flight in Oct was $1700 , I have a flight booked in March with ANA for $1700 , I couldn't find cheaper as a direct flight , I'm lucky to live in Australia as far as going to Japan is concerned because we can go direct , but I did notice a large amount of options going not direct which were considerably cheaper, some with huge layovers where you would need to have a sleep in between and some with crazy times where you'd arrive in the middle of the night then connect with another flight 2 hrs later and get no sleep that night , also at the time I got a hotel room for $32 a night everything was incredibly cheap, also your eating style is similar to me , food can be very cheap and good 🐒 🇯🇵✈️ great video

Well Nathan, I've got to say I think you made the most of your trip on an extremely reasonable budget. You did a lot for a relatively inexpensive daily cost. If I could only get flight for that cost, but all I'm finding are two to three times what you spent. I feel I'd probably spend more daily than you did even though I'd plan to spend similar amount, however, I'm also an I'm here I might as well go for it person. Thus budget is always blown. I rarely regret just doing it. 🐵

I love when people say how expensive Japan is, it's really not, especially if you do research. And daily costs are cheaper too, the cost of Tokyo Metro vs London Tube is amazing, it's sooo expensive and that alone makes me wonder how people think Tokyo is expensive. A budgeting tip I like to do to help save (I know everyone is different, I'm more saying this on the off-chance someone else reads), I think hostels are fine. In my experience, I've stayed in hostels in 4 different countries and Japan is the ONLY country I will again. The hostels are always clean and safe, they are generally non-smoking throughout, depending on the hostel they MAY offer breakfast or laundry. A hostel is a great way to meet friends but also if you stay in the dorm with the bed curtain closed, no one will mind or bother you. I don't spend much time at all where I'm staying so I don't care where I lay my head but I know some people need the privacy. Just sayin, imo, is a great money-saving thing. I mean, I love Japanese rock music and tickets can get super pricey for foreigners so I will take any money-saving opportunity I can to offset!
@NinjaMonkeyguy
@NinjaMonkeyguy Жыл бұрын
Yep.. Japan can be done much more budget than what people think. I think a lot of people that go for the first time want to splash out because it’s their first trip which then makes it seem like it’s super expensive

@@NinjaMonkeyguy I also had this talk with my mum, I'd be interested to know what you think, I mean obviously we KNOW it's a different money system but we see ¥2000 and it's a bigger number so even if we KNOW it's only what, £12, the bigger number is maybe subconsciously embedded in the brain? (I'm really interested in psychology so I'm interested in your opinion or if I'm reaching)
