In this lecture Professor Kristin Beach, MSN, BSN, RN will be presenting on Central Venous Catheter. We will be starting this lecture by defining what a central venous catheter is and how a patient may receive this central line while in the hospital. We will then be talking about how to maintain sterility while a patient has a central line inserted. We conclude this lecture with some of the most important steps and procedures to know if a dislodgment occurs, and how you can apply this on the NCLEX. Thank you for taking us back to the beginning! I’m in nursing school, and they start throwing all these different nursing interventions and terms at us, but never REALLY just explained the whys and procedures w/ the anatomy behind it all. I’m a person that needs to understand the basics first and then I can understand everything else. All schools should teach like this because everyone learns differently. You have helped me tremendously. THANK YOU!

I went to the hospital say my heart hurt and I have a Hickman and they got no blood flow and sent me home no heart problems say have upper respiratory infection gave me Sudafed and sent me home. Should I have not checked my Hickman better three days later I had to get there I was, but is it put in there to clear the vein took 45 minutes
