Best Pistol Build | Fallout 4 | High Damage / Survival

Here is what I consider the Perfect Pistol Build for Fallout 4 - any difficulty, any play style. I choose single shot for ammo and high spike damage, but this can be played full auto as well. Just a 10mm pistol, whatever you want to wear, and go own the Commonwealth. Very Hard Difficulty Gameplay. PS4. No mods.
Single shot recommend: Instigating or Mighty legendary effects.
Full Auto recommend: 'Wounding' (bleeding) effect, or Mighty.
If you like melee I suggest 'weighted' mods for your arm armor, and 'sleek' upgrades for legs. BioComm Mesh for Chest (sold on leather unique AGI/PER chest piece in Diamond City)

The Gainer (.44) with a scope is a great pistol sniper weapon. Later on swap to plasma or laser pistol with a sniper barrel.

I remember my first time coming across an Instigating 10mm. I had just gotten the Deliverer and was at first torn between the two, but that instigating legendary effect is so good. I typically play pistol builds because of the lightweight, common ammo and small VATS drain. I've only know started playing without vats and trying a rifle, and came across another instigating 10mm and questioned whether I was going to end up changing my play style to match this one weapon lol

That is a good build Ninja. I think I will try it out. One thing: how come you didn't take the rad resistance perk? Wouldn't radiation be an issue? I suppose you could take a Hazmat suit but there's no armour to it.

i do something like this in survival when im lower level, but when 10mm ammo is so common i just go full atuo XD i mean why not? the full auto pistol sounds and looks so badass (especially with the atom cats or hot rod red paint job on)

They made the rate of fire so ridiculously high on some of these rifles I never saw a place for the pistol, or the automatic receiver for that matter. I use pretty much the same play style, I just substitute these fast firing single shot rifles for the pistols. Rifleman, all the Agility perks he mentions - the build is identical to a pistol build, the damage multipliers are identical - except you have more options with the same weapon at farther ranges. I'll be honest, as soon as I find my first Pipe Gun I ditch the 10mm, I can do so much more so much faster with the Pipe Gun - including turning it into a Suppressed Pipe Rifle without ever needing to put a single point in Gun Nut. To top it off, it doesn't take long before you find your first Combat Rifle, and once you do that it's cancel Christmas for the enemy for the rest of the game.

I play survival with like 2 end, and I don't have a sneaky build. I also have mods that makes the damage output for enemies and me be higher and equal. I just use cover a lot, and spray and pray them in the face with an auto .36 pipe gun. It does 23 dmg a shot, and because its auto, it kills in a a couple seconds, if not one second.

I will try your kind of build on normal, but not with this high endurance (only 4 Endurance). I was in the past more a sniper, will be interesting working only with a pistol

A sneaky character should have low health as you’re avoiding damage, high endurance is good for melee and commando. Things where you get hit. Best pistol builds are vats and luck intensive, agility builds are stabby assassins. An unarmed / knuckles ghoul build would be high endurance (for eating people perks) and agility for sneak attacks + bleed damage/armour piercing (depending on your enemy) so you can forgo strength.

After having the luxury of mods for years I started a vanilla playthrough with one goal in mind character wise. Make my character as statistically raw and barebones as possible to maximize my longevity of exploring the wastes and growing as a character (I've never played the DLCs, most enticed to build Vault 88. By that time I should be LVL.26-30. Which seems is the communities recommended Far Harbor level

Even with scrounger just looting ammo isn't enough. I took all the points from endurance and just put them to charisma so I could trade pipe guns for ammo.

You can farm 10mm, fat men, food, and alcohol at the cabots house. Go there, steal stuff without being detected, you can make them friendly after the serum dilevery tho, come out with the loot, fast travel to a settlement, drop off ur stuff, rinse and repeat. I still sell fat men for 500 caps per

I’ve heard many bad things bout fallout 4 but they definitely did the weapon combat correct both vats and using sights. In fallout 3 it was aweful and in new Vegas it was good but there were things missing. 1 of the things that made me love fallout for was the combat and using the 10mm pistol and then upgrading it with suppressor and etc made it so amazing and this is definitely the 1 of the best ways to run a build with it. Fallout 3 was superior, you felt your character get better with levels up if you invested points in small guns for 10mm. 4 just felt like a generic shooter.

@@christophercollins3632 yeah it does have aiming sights, but it’s also an RPG. You’re supposed to use VATS. Otherwise go play COD or Halo.

Personally, the perfect build is with just 1 endurance and instead of the 10mm, I use the pipe revolver. .45 ammo is not that much rare at the beginning and you can also buy it. In mid game is very common (submachine guns and combat rifles become more common) and around end game .308 become a bit more common than mid game so you can change the ammunition for the pipe revolver if you feel you need that extra dmg. The pipe revolver has higher flat dmg and can still have a suppressor although it is a revolver, perfect for stealth: you want a single deadly shot rather than a burst of 2 or three shots. In if we consider the weight/dmg ratio of the gun, the pipe revolver is superior so it is also good for multiple vats shots.

Pipe revolver is awful for vats, .38 pipe guns or 10mm with light receiver is the way to go with that. Combined with high luck you become a vats machine

@@christinaedwards5084 VATS is for one precise shot (nuke of robloxers), not meant for multiple shots. Also, that is when your manual aim sucks. Otherwise, you always go manual.

@@sic996 thats a good point, i just had this conversation about sniper VATS build and Tinker Toms rifle came up, it draws a lot of AP but the increase in VATS accuracy is great, but there seem to be two ways to use vats and both of you are correct.

one thing the 10mm has over the .45 is the rate of fire, did you see how quickly it took down that Deathclaw in this video? but that is just another example of having more than one weapon. But if you did have to choose only one weapon for every situation, I would say the 10mm is the better option since it can handle more situations better. the .45 and .308 conversion would do more one shot damage, but the 10mm has higher DPS

Just commando for auto-anything, gunslinger for 1 shot pistols, rifleman for 1 shot rifles

Could you do a automatic build? Using my special stats? S:2 P:4 E:2 C: 10 I: 4 A:1 L:5. When I got Shaun’s book I put the point into Agility. Scrap most of sanctuary, spam wooden and Metal shelves as much as you can. Do the same thing at red rocket. With idiot savant you’ll rank up quick, and it’s really useful for survival, since I play on survival mostly.

I know lots of people do this, but i find it’s too cheap and cheesy, because you literally skip over the hardest part of the game in survival: the first 10 levels. Spamming shelves this was gets you to level 13 ish. At that point, you’re actually pretty strong.

Late reply but yes. Just remember that Energy Weapons cannot be silenced so it isn't AS viable for stealth but doesn't mean it wont work. I've done an Energy Stealth build.

I struggle to believe at level 17 with a 10m pistol you are taking swan out that fast.... I was level 25 with really good weapons and didn't take it out that fast 🤣🤣

I disagree, my favorite weapon is the nuka world handmade rifle with a pistol grip. One equipped with an automatic receiver and explosive effect for crowd control and the second is the silenced splattercannon for close combat. I do also make the problem solver into a sniper rifle too, however I find I really rarely if ever need to resort to using it. The combination of explosive and bloody mess devastates crowds quickly. Spamming a crowd in vats I'll end up taking the crowd out before I finish shooting all my targets. I do use vats enhancers as I can find. I dont get the number of shots as the deliverer but I have needed them. I will get all the companion peeks but normally use the companions as settlers after I get them and travel with dogmeat as my pack mule as it let's me use lone wanderer. I also ise black widow as it seams most useful playing a female character. For non vats the problem solver set up as a sniper rifle and the splattercannon as an auto backup is also a great combo.

Isn’t the handmade rifle the game’s strongest weapon? I think the point here is that you don’t need OP weapons to be good. The starter gun is that good when specced correctly.

@@christophercollins3632 perhaps but the ak is my preferred weapon. It is built like a tank and it just works not the same can always be said of the ar. AK is effectively shorter range than the ar so there is less worry of over penetration. That is very good in terrain where distance is obscured by trees. The ar could punch through trees and hit unintended targets. Additionally it is ridiculous that many targets in the game can take entire clips and still not go down. All because Bethesda couldn't be bothered to write a better ai. Considering that an op weapon especially one that isn't available until later in the game isn't out of line in my opinion. Lastly if Bethesda didn't want it in the game then they should not have allowed it in the first place.

@@billlyell8322 I hear that complaint, but I disagree, that bulletsponge enemies are a product of bad AI and laziness on Bethesdas part. I happen to enjoy the few that do roam the wasteland. It’s easy to become very powerful in this game. In no time, normal enemies get one-shot. Deathclaws in 5. They AI does a lot of interesting things, depending on the type. What are the elite high hp variants supposed to do differently? They already flank, retreat, use cover, throw grenades, rush your position, track you down. In some ways, once you’re crushing the content, a surprise high hp variant can kill you, because you don’t expect it. My point is that some players enjoy that some enemies are bulletsponges. You don’t.

@@christophercollins3632 I disagree, when you advance from the lowest d8fficylty level, the npc hit points is the only thing that changes until you get to survival level. The same enemy will just run straight at you. Obviously a bear or deathclaw should have much more hit points than a radroach. But when the same raider npc npc starts taking significantly more rounds each level you go up, I do call that lazy. I used to program, at easy level they run straight at you. 1 level higher they use cover, another level higher they use range weapons, another level higher several attack together, etc... None of that requires increasing their hit points at all. Had any of these programmers worked for me they would have had issues for being incompetent. Look at the weapons, they could not even Google it to design weapons that charge correctly. That total incompetence. Modders fixed many of Bethesda error. Why then didn't they do it right from the beginning? Why didn't Bethesda buy the fixes and install them in the game after they where available. Again the answer is incompetence.

@@billlyell8322 I’ve heard this perspective before, that as you go up in difficulty, all that changes is hp, therefore lazy. No one has commented that the hp is set correctly for the hardest difficulty, and reduced for easier difficulties. Somehow only normal difficulty is how the game should be judged in its entirety. You change enemy AI to adapt differently based on difficulty? That sounds like a double edged sword. I’d rather have a game play the same, a little less lethal, than dumb itself down. I’ve only ever played on Survival. If there’s an AI difference between the difficulties, I wouldn’t know. I’m talking about bulletsponge enemies being fun. I enjoy them. I’m not interested in branching off into all the nitpicks that, let’s be honest, every game is susceptible to.
