When I first played stardew I was obsessed with everyone's storylines so instead of progressing I talked to every person each day and clint never struck me as an incel, I just saw a depressed man who was pushed to do something he hates because of his family and couldn't find the confidence to do anything about it so he just works all day and drinks all night. I saw his crush on emily to be kind of sad because it showed that he didn't have any confidence in anything in his life exept for his work but that is something he doesn't like. Its interesting to me to see how other people saw it as incel behavior which I can understand but its sad because it kinda hides how many times he talks about how miserable he is and how he wishes he could leave but if he did there wouldn't be a blacksmith in pelican town and that would hurt the town. He seems very caring and sensitive but hopeless and unassertive

I think part of the issue is that Clint stops being Emily's friend if the farmer ends up dating / marrying her, which Emily expresses sadness about because she does consider him a good friend. Clint also responds in ways that suggest he only saw Emily as a romantic conquest, even congratulates you for "winning her." Which, well, really falls in line with common incel behaviour. It's understandable that Clint would want to distance himself from Emily if his crush becomes "impossible" because she ends up dating someone else, but the lack of self-reflection from Clint overall makes him look selfish and like he views Emily as a goal rather than a friend, which isn't great. This tends to overshadow the unfortunate circumstance of someone who is unhappy with his life path because it was forced on him.

@@Rikrobat exactly this. it's all this stuff that makes me dislike Clint. I still feel bad for him cause of him being forced into a life he hates, but that's no excuse for the way he seems to barely see Emily as a human being.

concerned ape rly did violate the geneva convention, the doctor used to have a Red Cross but it had to be changed

And yet, Concerned Ape did do that in the early versions of the game by mistake. You aren’t supposed to use the Red Cross symbol in games unless you’re attaching it to the actual organisation. Usually, folks opt for using the green cross, which merely takes the place of a Red Cross where it wouldn’t be sanctioned by the Geneva Convention. Harvey’s clinic had a Red Cross early on. Yeah, lots of devs do it, and yeah most don’t realise it but a number do realise they should correct it.

When the game was first released, there were red "plus" symbols on the doctor's office, both on the outside and the inside. This violates the Geneva Convention because only the Red Cross is allowed to use that symbol.
