I'm currently playing Fire Emblem for the GBA and just love the whole system. I always try to train the characters I like most, which is not very strategic but gives the game a much more personal feeling.

Each character has a certain set of classes they can change into. For example, Sully can change into cavalier, myrmidon, and wyvern rider trees. It greatly expands her options, but she'll always be a physical unit. She doesn't have the option to be a mage and will never replace one or a healer. Personally, I like the idea since it gives each character more options, but every character cannot play any role.

Dang I remember watching this way back before I got the game.

I actually played Scared Stones when it come out. Man those was some good memories back then.

It will release sometime in April. We don't know anything more precise than that yet.

@Oscar K yes, it takes place on the same continent, but Awakening takes place in the future. That is why Chrom knows the name Marth, since he is Chrom's ancestor. You don't need to know the story of Shadow Dragon to play the game though.

Fire Emblem is AMAZING. The new ways to play with friends and rivals plus the DLCs will make this the best one yet!!

I've just noticed something about the game art cover that people rarely found. Kellam is on the box art cover... but if you look closely... his face is covered by "Marth's" sword, and he's way at the back. I found it funny.

That has got to be one of the best trailers for a strategy game ever. So informative, yet it really just scratched the surface of the depth of challenges and options to counter those challenges available in the game.

I'm up to Ch. 14 now and I have to say, this is one of the most worthwhile purchases I've ever made. An absolute masterpiece.

Maybe, but there are also 'Reaver Weapons' that reverse the weapon triangle if I recall, so it does get quite complex here and there. Of course, it could also just be his stats are just so high that brute force is all you need to win...

It really eases you into it. You really won't be making a mistake. This game is crazy fun.

This game made me Craigslist my Vita. I literally played the demo once and then proceeded to place the ad. Nintendo, if you are listening, please release more TACTICS based games to the west and NA region. Many adults play and own the 3DS. We absolutely love games like this. You can go for dark knight, which has a higher emphasis on magic but still uses swords and is mounted, and as an added bonus then you can pass on lifetaker to Morgan which is normally male only.

Even though Nintendo has seen some darker days with few great games on the Wii and such, games like these make me always make myself buy Nintendo consoles and play their games. Can't wait!

Some sorta good news!!! Apparently some USA Game-Stop Stores might also ship the game early as well, but that is a rather low probability sadly. Its currently unknown if the E-shop version will be made available earlier in response to the street break.

This game reminds me more and more like Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions which was an amazing game. Once you dove into the game it is not "complicated" but just an amazing tactical experience. I see this being similar.

Pretty much knew all of this from the games on the GBA, but none the less, thanks for bringing this to the US.

That's an understatement, you CAN'T stop playing.

IMPORTANT NOTE TO BEGINNERS: Another type of class includes special class. Special Classes are classes that can not promote, but they can level up to level 30 (oppose to level 20 for base and advance classes) and they have valuable skills that other classes can not obtain. These classes includes Villager, Dancer, and Manaketes. For several of these classes, reclassing them into another class using the second seal can allow them to reach an advance class. I love my physical copy. I pre-ordered to get that artbook, the boxart+boxcase and other stuff in it. What I regret is not getting the bundle and not living in Europe because they're getting the Fire Emblem: Awakening 3DS XL bundle... >_< Oh well, I'm still enjoying the game! Already put more than 100+ hours into it, but I'm sure there are more people who've played it a LOT longer than me! (Not counting the people who own the Japanese copy)

@master9728 The Lord class traditionally promotes to the Great Lord class which is a mounted unit with mostly rounded stats.

I have, and I don't think I can handle this amount of content and stuff. I hate to say it, but my brain can't get past my Mario, Zelda, and Metroid comfort zone. My play through will be filled with rage and resets.

Wow they really added some new features to the classes. You can change them now. I missed the Wii version, but otherwise this feels very new to me. Awesome to see. Will be picking this game up for sure.

It doesn't replace the ability to do criticals. In fact, in Radiant Dawn, you could get criticals WITHIN astra attacks.

A lot of people (like myself) would prefer to have a box of the game. Reasoning could be to add to physical collections, let family/friends borrow, sell/trade. That sort of thing. Downloading has its advantages (especially as you could always redownload), but it also has its disadvantages as the game would only be available to you on that specific handheld.

I'm glad they did what they done in Sacred Stones and allowed you to do random skirmishes to level up units without advancing immediately to the next chapter.

3:02 Something I only realised recently: Nowi as a Dark Knight has freakishly high Defence(60% growth!) by magic-user standards. I am so trying that.

You can buy both Master and Second Seals at the shops.

In all the other games they have feet. A lot of people have commented on the feetlessess, some people think it might be a glitch. If you notice when they jump, the feet are really small. They sink into the ground a bit, too, making them look feetless.

Kellam would make a great Thief. No one would notice he's there.

He's one of the best units.

Well, there is not a dungeon like Valni or Lagdou, but there are skirmishes around the map that serve a better purpose, plus there are MANY different ways to get exp, from skirmishes with other player's teams, skirmishes with enemies in general, and a WHOLE bunch of sidequests. Plus, if you pick the right difficulty, the game doesn't require THAT much training, if that's what you're worried about.

One thing I would like Nintendo to do that would really help their sales and bring more players to their system(s) is port over all the snes (super Nintendo) games for wii u and the 3ds all they would have to do is make the graphics hd,because the classic games were great they could package them all as abundle for the nintendo e-shop for free or like $5-10 they would get plenty of sales,trust me when I say this...they could even do the same for all their Nintendo 64 titles as well

There's a "casual mode" you can select at the beginning where your characters don't die.

There's a simple solution to that. Change the unit's class after he gets both skills of the class you're currently in, if you desire a skill outside the class change tree, get the skill from the class that has it and change to old class. Simple enough.

This is so much more customization than I've seen in any other Fire Emblem game. I've only played Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, but still, this looks fantastic. The replayability for this game is going to be insane.

You guys don't realize the DS games are remakes of the NES one (With the second being a remake of the second story of Monshou no Nazo for the SNES). They didn't add the awesome cut scenes and features from the Gameboy Advance games to make it feel like the original one. However, due to the complains Shin Monshou no Nazo actually got new features, like making your own character.

I assume the idea is that each character will still be wholly unique, based on how you choose to develop him/her. A character you spend eight chapters building up certain stats and skills won't be too easy to replace if he dies.

Agreed. Base classes learn skills at levels 1 and 10. Promoted classes get skills at levels 5 and 15.

It has a mode where it makes it easy to learn the whole game in 10-20 minutes

Wow...you like....thats epic bro (or sis? o_e) I'll add a tiny bit onto that by saying This chess game has a story to it and isn't just play to improve. Its like experiencing a story in a book. You get to go through the chapters and feel the story and guide/tell it!

i just wish they allowed the characters to class change twice, like in radiant dawn where in the characters can reach third tier :) but oh well, this game still looks badass :0

Actually, it seems their feet are as wide as their legs. If you look closely at 2:20, you can see that the enemy , when jumping and when defeated, has a little spike coming out of the front of each foot. I think it's just the art style.

I have a black 3DS and my brother had a Blue one, he is going to buy the FE one at the release.

They don't mention, but it should be obvious. Offensive skills do not stack with other offensive skills, the way skills activate is Passive->support->offensive (occasionally with a critical hit)->defensive

Is just the style. They went with this semi anime-semi-chibi style characters, they are well proportioned in some ways but if you look the head is a little big and the feet are small.

Besides the never ending Skirmishes, DLC maps will be made out as re playable as well, with a cost of course.

Some people prefer a physical copy like me. I couldn't find the game in the 4 stores I tried so I went online and ordered it there. Had to wait a while for shipping, but I was cool for it because I wanted the physical copy of the game

STILL more to talk about this game?! They had me at the "over 40 classes" trailer. All this freaking content; you would think they'd sell half of it as DLC. But then again, Nintendo doesn't seem as out to get their consumers as Sony and Microsoft are (in terms of DLC). Thank you Nintendo! With my boring hour-long train rides to college, I will definitely be enjoying myself with this.

Really wishing I hadn't spent my gaming budget for the next several months on other things, this looks really sweet I havent played a Fire Emblem since the one from the early 2000s on the GBA.
