@@studio_xplay4299 So if a wire is torn apart/broken, it makes the 3DS unusable, that’s why you need to be very careful because at any time you could break it.

@@NoBro_ I did it just now. I can confirm it is very time consuming and requires immense concentration, but I did complete it with some minor help. The only thing that is a nightmare is routing the ribbon cables through the hinges. That was pure hell.

I am fairly experienced with microelectronics and repair, and appreciate the fact that you made sure to hilight the details that would otherwise make this less successful. I was able to repair my sons 3DS in about two hours. He has autism, but was able to patiently wait for the new screen to arrive earlier today. I cant wait to see how happy he is when his DS is operational again!

It’s been 6 months I gave up trying to repair my 3DS XL, just bought a New 3DS XL because I miss it, wanted to try turning on my old one to transfer all my data, I absolutely forgot how the upper screen’s flat cables were plugged in, thanks to your video I could boot it up and make sure it turns on, hopefully the data transfer will work, all of my childhood is inside qwq

My hinge was terrible to pop out and put back in, but I was able to fix the 3DS! Definitely wouldn't want to do it again anytime soon 😂 thanks for the video!

This is a wonderful tutorial. Only issue I had was trying to keep dust out from behind the plastic lens and the lcd but that’s a me thing. Everything went as planned and ordered a new battery for the device as well. Thank you for making this well thought out tutorial.

I would only recommend doing this if your screen is actually broken, the ips screens aren’t that nice.

hello! i've been following along and i'm at a complete standstill on reinstalling the hinge. the thing will go in halfway but then won't budge. i'm already using what feels like an excessive amount of force and i don't want to break anything. i've tried re-seating the hinge lock and diffuser but nothing. i've tried bending the bottom shell while pushing, also nothing. any help would be greatly appreciated.

just kidding! bent a screwdriver but i got it! keeping the unit as open as i could while still having some space to push on the hinge was the key for me. almost opposite from the way you did it. huh! thanks for the great video.

I just love the way you conveniently skip the bit of you threading the other two ribbon cables through the tiny hole. lol we all know that that must have taken you at least half an hour lolol.

I believe it's only the one LCD ribbon cable that needs to be taken out and rethreaded through the hole. The other two stay in place during the LCD repair.

Can I clean the actual lcd screen off after installing a new one, with some lcd cleaner and microfiber cloth before refitting the screen lens

P.s my device is a 3DS XL but of course it’s a different model than yours because from the beginning it was different but still similar enough that I could follow through but I cannot get this hinge to pop out. *sigh* I’m stuck at this point

You may have the new 3ds xl, I have a video on that if it helps. Make sure the top screen cover plate is off. Try to use anything that has an angle to it, angled tweezers, picks, ect. These hinges can be stubborn.

3:29 My 3DS XL doesn't have screws there, only metal plates. But I need to open the top screen cover in order to access the barrel hinge and get my 3DS back together (I had to change the bottom part after the right hinge shell thing broke from accidentally dropping my 3DS). What do I do now? I tried to contact Nintendo support but the only response I got was "Sorry but we can't help you with self repair issues"....

Hey, quick question. What is that thing the green cable is attached to? My 3ds XL had several cables broken due to intense tearing. Camera, 3d speaker, upper screen ribbon cables all got destroyed and also that thing the green cable is attached to. Do you know what it is? Do I need to replace it in order to get the system to boot up again? I only need it for data transfer, so just working enough to do that, nothing more

im having a lot of trouble with getting the screws off just to remove the housing shell. A few of them I was able to get out fairly easily, but the others seem impossible.

Hello I need some help! I had a broken top screen that I wanted to fix the whole console was working and the the bottom screen was also working I bought the top screen and followed the tutorial but after the whole change the console can’t even turn on The battery light turn on for some second then abruptly turn off What do I do ? FYI :My brother told me it’s because at 2:12 the hinge is a bit loose and can’t hold the ribbon But doesnt that only affect the top screen ? update:(it worked it turns out the ribbon didn't stay in it place :0 )

Out of all handhelds Nintendo is one I hate the most to work on I’ve done about 13 screen replacements already on broken 3Ds xl and I must say I don’t look forward to them anytime but they sell fast so get them cheap fix them and sell them quick

I just Followed your tutorial step by step but now when i start my 3ds xl everything turns on But both screens stay black but you can see the difference of brightness so i think that it turns on. Anyone has a idea ? I only replaced the top screen

Make sure the Wi-Fi chip is seated into the board properly. Also check and make sure all flex cables are fully inserted and the clamps set properly

I cannot get the lcd top panel/upper plastic cover on. I dont know why no matter what i do it wont fit into place. The new screen is in correctly and all the cables are in their correct spots.

I got fungus growing on top screen of my 3ds, looks like its on this glass/plastic layer which tops the screen itself. So damn ugly, but have to live with it, cause i will just destroy the console if i try to open it, too tiny stuff for my hands.

i snapped off the brown latch that keeps the top lcd cable on the motherboard 😭 i ended up putting the new screen cable in place and supergluing it (I KNOW THATS DUMB I WAS DESPERATE) and it still doesn’t work
