Released in Japan as Blast Dozer.
Rare's legendary N64 game, basically the goal is to crush buildings with various vehicles, a great stress relief, though racing stages are a bit frustrating. Got the gold medal on all stages, and yes I know this game can be finished for much less time but I didn't wanted to skip the cutscenes and I'm not experienced enough to beat the world records. There are much better and faster longplays on YT than this one, I know. This game also exist on the Rare Replay compilation. -

I played the crap out of this as a kid on a blockbuster rental, and didn't know about the backlashes ability to spin around so I always had to use terrain to get it to spin out and hit things with the back, it added an obnoxious amount of challenge to the game, I literally would have recurring nightmares about it.

"Blast Corps was my first project, though I suppose it wouldn't be considered as a 'big project' these days. During the development of Blast Corps there were never more than seven people working on the game at the same time. Most of the time it was just this core group of four of us, who were mainly graduates. That sort of thing just doesn't happen any more. The concept for the game was something that Chris Stamper (co-founder of Rare) had been trying to get going for years. His famous quote was, 'If you knock down buildings, it will be fun.' Obviously, the challenge for us, always, was finding a reason to knock down buildings. So we came up with what we referred to as a 'Constantly Moving Object.' It helped to channel the gameplay and was used to set a time limit. Our lead artist at the time, Ricky Berwick, was just fantastic. He came up with some really cool ideas for vehicles and we basically retrofitted them into the play dynamic afterwards. My favourite vehicle would have to be Backlash. Its mechanic was borrowed from Mario Kart 64's power slide; it was heavily criticised and I remember defending it for many hours. It was really hard to pull off a successful slide-smash. Personally I found the challenge immensely satisfying." -- Martin Wakeley, lead designer (Blast Corps - N64 - Rare)

@@bufflatino5121 I *adore* Blast Corps, grew up playing it and still come back to it, but I cannot in good faith recommend anybody try it if they aren't already used to "early 3D jank" because the game is absolutely lousy with it. Vehicles bounce off of walls and hard objects like they're made of rubber and occasionally get caught on geometry which you have to wiggle out of. Certain stages have puzzle elements that are barely communicated or not at all, like the TNT crate on a remote island in Oyster Harbor, or the scientist in the underground maze with no marked entrance on Argent Towers. The functional but unremarkable driving controls and mechanics are not interesting enough to warrant half the side missions being 4-lap race tracks. Just a few examples that came to mind.

In the early days of KZfaq they were titled "Let's Play ______" and there were a load of them! They would be only like 10 minutes of gameplay between 50+ videos to finish a game because that's all KZfaq allowed for at the time. Something I hadn't thought of in a long time until now! I made a few on Banjo Tooie, Conker and DK64 but sadly I deleted them for whatever reason when I was younger.

@@plume... I'm saying the word "corps" is one of those unusual French-based words that has the same spelling for its singular or plural forms, but the two forms are pronounced differently. "corps" singular is pronounced "core" and "corps" plural is pronounced "cores." Since "Blast Corps" is referring to a single corps, it's pronounced "blast core" (not "blast cores"). Another word like that is "chassis" (pronounced "CHASS-ee" in the singular and "CHASS-eez" in the plural).
