Honestly love Scott's stash. Like it's obvious these are just topics he wants to talk about but can't really get a full produced video put of. I also really like how it kinda shows that his comedy in his main videos isn't just to appeal to people, it's what he legitimately finds funny.

About the packaging: The curve on the DS with the indent is supposed to be the back of the OG DS. The DSi one is a straight line because that's the shape of the DSi.

I remember for a space of maybe 2-3 years the DSi/3DS was unironically my music player.

In the 3DS manual, it had keyart for DS and DSi cartages while talking about backwards compatibility. I was always perplexed by a "DSi Game Card" because I had never seen one before. The art used black for DS and white for DSi, like the boxes. Odd they felt like they had to mention it. Also the constant reminders that it "Only Works on DSi" are quite amusing. I had an aunt buy Minecraft New 3DS for her son and his "3DS XL" and was confused on why it didnt work. Really shows that it never works... Makes you wonder if that ever happened with a DSi only game to someone.

I had a DS lite when I was really little, and I had a bunch of DS games plus 3 GBA games (Super Mario World, LarryBoy and the Bad Apple, and Little Einsteins). I ended up getting it traded for a DSi because my parents must've thought that the new features were worth it. Although I missed being able to play the GBA games (except little einsteins), I do have fond memories with the camera feature and Flipnote, and the previous owner had installed Mario vs Donkey Kong: Minis March Again, which I played for many hours.

Scott still does all his editing on a DSi, iconic.

I've played through Foto Showdown. Its story mode is very short, maybe 10-15 hours long. The story is pure fluff; it makes the stories of Pokemon games look deep. There's a positioning element to combat. It resembles a turn-based strategy game. The monsters don't level up like in Pokemon. Instead, you keep taking pictures until you randomly get stronger monsters to put on your team. There's no world or dungeons to explore, only a series of monster battles and forgettable, low-budget story scenes. At the time, I thought Foto Showdown was barely worth the $15 I paid for it. Now it auctions for $50 or more, go figure. I guess DSi collectors have money to burn.

while not a DSi exclusive, the Sonic Classics Collection for DS runs way smoother on the DSi over the regular DS thanks to the extra horsepower. I'm sure this was the case for some other games too, but that's the most important one for me!

Man, the DSi really hits that sweet spot of pure nostalgia for me. 2009...I wasn't even 10 just yet when my mom decided to take me to GameStop on a whim and buy me a new DS. Originally I had wanted a new Lite, since my older brother broke my first one by tripping over the charging cable and literally ripping the system in half, but the DSi was the real new thing, so my mom got me it instead. And I think it must've been a bit more expensive than a Lite at the time, cause we had to hide it from my dad or else he'd get mad that I had gotten yet another new system. Still, from under the covers and whenever he was at work, it was a blast. I took so many pictures just to put the Mario hat and 'stache on, listened to the slides how music all the time, messed around with my voice in the Sound app...I think I even first played Yoshi's Island DS on there. We didn't collectively know how to connect any of our systems to the internet yet, so I missed out on most DSiWare, barring Flipnote. And damn, _Flipnote._ It's a crying shame the 3DS iteration didn't bring back the Flipnote Hatena service. I spent hours watching stuff through there. I say all this and yet I only really used the system for a year, give or take. That's when my sister, like a dope, put it on a shelf as she was helping clean our living room, and it fell off landing top screen-first. Tons of dead pixels. Poor system...but it was in part thanks to that slip up that I was in prime position to get the 3DS in 2011. And sure enough, that holiday season, Flame Red 3DS. 12 year old me cried tears of joy after not having any sort of DS for over a year at that point. And the rest is history, pretty much. Thanks for joining me on this nostalgia slide. Sorry for going on for a while there!

I think it is very funny that when Scott mentioned DS games with DSi exclusive features I first thought of Pokemon B/W which I think could do like, rudimentary video calls with the DSi camera but instead Scott brings up iCarly because of course he does. Never change Scott

Looking back, the DSi was a pretty great upgrade for me as a DS owner. No joke I gamed SO HARD that I had TWO DS Lite systems break on me. It wasn't misuse, I simply used it so much that two times the hinges wore down and eventually broke off. It was amazing waking up on Christmas and getting the DSi, because at that point I was on my second Lite and the hinge was quite literally dangling and was almost unusable. The DSi came in clutch, and only thing that wore down was the L button, which got abused due to heavy Flipnote Studio use. The Lite was a beautiful system, but fell short in durability because of that.

Judging by the Foto Showdown trailer it showed that an agressive dog, and a bully both had monsters inside of them because they we're evil or something, but that means that Scott and his plant are also both evil.

No joke, I feel like Scott has emotional scars from not having a WiFi router when he was younger.

Glad Ghostwire was finally able to come out, it was a good idea to go more multiplatform on the new release instead of keeping it for the dsi in 2022

I recall getting that same exact Dsi for Christmas back in 2010 with a copy of the toy story 3 game, now if that’s not a great gift than I don’t know what is .

There are actually a few more DSi exclusive cartridges: they made two demo videos (volume 1 and 2) which bypass the DSi Operating System and boot into a video which plays on loop, meant to advertise a available games in store. I might make a video on them because they're really cool, but maybe you should check them out!

I got a cobalt blue Nintendo DS Lite on my birthday back in '08, and it came with New Super Mario Bros., that was the best gift I ever got as a kid. I did have a few GBA games that I could play with it, though I lost them, not to mention that my DS broke from the hinge later on. I actually got a black Nintendo DSi on New Year's Eve of 2012 which was definitely the second best gift from my Godmother. I only had better memories with Flipnote Studio and Hatena, as well as the free Zelda game that coincided with its 25th anniversary. While it didn't break as it did with the DS Lite, I lost it after my visit to the hospital. I only knew about the DSi Shop and its DSiWare games, but was unaware that there were games made for the DSi until later when I got my 3DS XL and read the manual that the system could accept DSi games. Those carts really look exactly like the 3DS carts, if they didn't have the tab on the side. I know I'm gonna have people disagreeing with me when I say this but I think it was for the best that the DSi didn't have a GBA cart slot. I think the DSi was meant to move on from the GBA era after they discontinued the GBA Micro, so it makes sense that the DSi doesn't have the slot right from the get-go. Either way people already have methods of playing GBA games, either on the actual handheld, the Gamecube's GBA Player, or the DS/DS Lite itself, so there's no point in bitching about it when you already have the existing methods right off the bat.

System Flaw is really interesting, because neither the cartridge nor the DSi have a gyroscope. My guess is it uses the camera feed to calculate the relative position of the system based on where it was when it started up

The DSi is so funny because I saw this same blue one exactly when I bought my DS Lite but I still went with the Lite because I wanted the color red. Not that I regret it though bc I didn't know the DSi didn't have a GBA slot (which I still use at the time) but I really didn't expect there weren't as many exclusives for it.

I adore how the DSi exclusive cases still have the GBA slot despite the fact that the DSi has almost 0 backwards compatibility with the GBA I mean I know why they kept that in; it was cheaper and simpler to just use the same mold and run a different colored plastic in it than to make a whole new tooling. But it's still pretty funny to see especially after they ended up making a brand new tooling without the GBA slot in later DS games

Picture Perfect Salon actually was available digitally on DSiWare, but renamed as Hair Salon pocket stylist. I still have it digitally on my DSi. I just booted it up whilst watching the video and it's the exact same game.

one of my favorite games of all time :solatorobo red the hunter; had dsi exclusive features as an optional part of the game. I don't want to spoil it cause it turns into a really cool part of the game's story, but it's kind of how earthbound asks for your name and uses it in surprise ways during the game.

Korg DS10+ physical copy also has some DSi exclusive content.

The DS original and DS lite had a web browser it just was on a game cartridge and it came with something that went in GBA GPA slot to increase the memory so that it could support a web browser

I just bought my first Ds Lite, I had a dsi XL for the longest time, lately I’ve been working on my collection of games and I’ve realized I have a lot of raresque or hard to find games as well as some software you can’t get anymore that I transferred to my 2DS via the dsiware migration when they released the 3Ds and 2Ds.

I swear at one point I heard it being talked about that Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks was also considered for being a DSi exclusive at one point for better graphics and performance, but then that was moved away from so it would reach a wider audience though I think it's still supposed to be built around the better processing power of the DSi for a more enhanced experience but I don't know of anyone who ever really looked into it. (Sort of like how Majora's Mask 3D was built around the New 3DS but still perfectly playable on a regular 3DS.)

There was a Cars (like, the movie series, Cars) racing game on cartridge that I played on my DS Lite, but if I played in on DSi, there was some camera functionality... I forget what it did

System Flaw kinda Impressive game, I mean I thought that DSI had some kind of Gyroscope on it since it can read each position of the enemies (but, no) use that System Flaw feature on different game like Pokemon Snap for DSi or something like that since you can turn around and find where the pokemon at, it would have been perfect for DSi.

My nephew had a DSi but didn't have any games, we'd play with the camera and sound recorder apps all day
