Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP Restoration - In this video I'm taking a broken Game Boy and making it look new again. The Game Boy Advance SP (special) was released in 2003 and this one is in pretty bad shape. To restore it I replace the battery, replace the case, clean up the liquid damage and dust from the motherboard, and replace the top screen protector.

About This Video: I'm restoring a thrashed Game Boy Advance SP in this video to "like new" condition. That means a new case, new screen protector, new battery, and cleaning out off the motherboard. And, of course, making sure everything works when I'm done. It's so satisfying to take old gaming equipment and make it look new again.

Most laptops I've dealt with were great on their screen connector. Idk what you've been dealing with but usually you don't even have to disassemble the lower part of the computer just the power button/speaker bezel and the screws and connector are right there and it pops off

Man, I really love your stuff. Even something that "simple" of cleaning a dirty case just makes the starting weekend even better. Have you ever considered repairing some really old consoles like an Atari or a Master System? I guess that would be quite the challenge hence the lack of spare parts.

Spot on video. I watch your channel for information on retro gaming repairs. As a hobby I repair old electronics. This video with its slower laid back feel provided all the information I need to do a repair on a Game Boy without destroying it. The links for tools and repair parts are great. One of your tool kits is on my to buy list, so tired of digging around around looking for the right screwdriver. Please do more of this type of video. Great job, big thumbs up.

You're right, "restoration" would be more appropriate had he taken _restorative_ measures (like fixing the scratches / paint) on the original shell, while it is more appropriate to say that this Gameboy was "refurbished", given its new shell and battery (which may not be unoriginal to the GBA SP in general, but is, at least, to the unique console). It's not a super big deal, in my opinion, as I feel this was completely a mistake, given how close the two words are, however it is slightly misleading. I, myself, was mislead-ed into watching the video as I thought as well he would attempt to fix the original shell (i.e., restore), however I have no qualms, as it was still a quality video

One approach would be plastic fillers but that involves repainting. You can also try a thick polish but that wont fix deep scratches. MY best result is a light sanding after a thorough cleansing, some very light filling with plastic filler and then repaint it custom. if you want to keep it original you can try to find the specific color but good luck with that.
