Tbh, it's understandable. I mean while emulation is usually a gray area, this was straight up robbery considering that the switch is still a current gen console and all games are still easily available for purchase.

@@inspectorluggas8260 The case wasn't actually focused on the emulator aspect, but how devs circumvented their encryption, promoted that they could get access to prerelease games and then selling the access. So rather than banning the "spoon", it was the spoon seller that also pointed people to the drugs. The devs made it far too easy to jailbreak and extract game files. Then they paywalled early patches behind Patreon with a coincidental spike around Zelda's release. We all know Nintendo hates emulators already and now there's a guy making money though it by selling "specialized spoons" that breaks their encryption, oh, also conveniently pointing people in the general direction. They were making 30k a month off Patreon. Nintendo would have been stupid to not protect their IP.

@@Weremole I'd be happy with just that, but come on, the Switch is still priced like £309 for OLED model in retailers. Zelda is marked up at £70 on an old gen cart. Nintendo is treating it's outdated Android tablet like a new console even after six years (whilst the Steam Deck is offering much more raw performance for not much more money on the lowest SSD model). If Nintendo Switch was under £120 and games cheap, then I'll appreciate Nintendo milking the generation a bit more. But it just seems to me like really bad recommendation to get a Switch now, when Nintendo's shiny new console is probably just around the corner for likely not much more money. Nintendo have likely saved a butt tonne of money not making a new console or pro/elite Switch model (such as development, manufacturing and shipping costs), yet still pricing their current console and games like it was released last year. Nintendo is completely suckering it's fanbase and riding the cash cow.

Yuzu was too open that they could play totk before the release and made 30k a month from patreons. They should have been more subtle and not profited financially off of it.

Yet you'll find more people who will dedicate their lives to making an emulator if you pay them a minimum wage, and Patreon-like services where people donate monthly to support that cause suit it best. It's a double-edged sword really. Especially with none other than Nintendo.

Nah it was Yuzu making it far to easy to get totk before release and making 30k a month in Patreon in the process.

They're architected differently and programs made made with ones interface simply cannot run on another regardless of performance. Similar reason why a windows program cannot run on mac.

Yuzu is a Nintendo Switch emulator. It’s on PC, Android, and Mac. I use it everyday to play Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom on my PC. It’s so nice playing it at 4K 60fps. Your should definitely give it a go if you have any of those
