You got two things wrong about Mario VS Donkey Kong. It’s only $50 NOT $60 and it takes longer than 4-5 hours to 100%. I checked my switch account, it took 15 hours to 100% due to all the bonus levels like the +world and expert levels.

I mean… I kind of agree, but in no way do I think the double a games are bad. I loved most of the sports games. I wouldn’t mind a price drop but I still think that Nintendo puts a lot of passion into ALL of their games. As for Mario wonder being a AA, I don’t think so. 2d Mario is where it all started, and before it came out people were begging Nintendo for another. To me it seemed like the biggest release of the year.

I absolutely agree with nintendo for the most part, AA games are in no way bad as long as they're still quality games with a decent runtime And even if they're short, as long as they're fun and not broken, I find nothing wrong with them HOWEVER, I 100% agree with you on the prices, a good 75% of nintendo games (or more) are overpriced, there's no excuse for every single thing from them being that goddamn high

Nintendo really cares about the fun factor. And they do that better than anyone else. Some of the games might be short, but they have phenomenal replay value. In theory their games might always look a bit dated because technologically they are three generations behind. The switch 2 according to leaks will be running on Nvidia 3000 series hardware. When the switch 2 comes out Nvidia series 5000 will be on the market.

I wouldn't say the quality is dropping because Wonders is a breath of fresh air on the original 2D format. Also they are trying new things like Peach getting another game and Zelda actually being the main character outside of those games that shall remain nameless. Besides pricing Im still of the mind that Nintendo knocked it out of the park in terms of quality software. I recently watched a video (maybe yours - I can't remember) about game pricing where the host stated that $70 for a game was "crazy", & then 30 seconds later said that $70 for TotK was "absolutely worth it"; both of those cannot be true. ps- the list of $70 Switch titles is extremely short

Just about every one of those AA Nintendo games are better than 99% of the AAA games being released these days. I'd rather pay 60$ for a 4-hour Princess Peach game than 70 for a 3-hour Call of Duty game.

Unpopular opinion, but I think it's a good thing when the studio recognizes new games require more time and resources. Nintendo has a good track record of putting out well polished games.

Saying AA games are inherently worse and should be cheaper than AAA it’s just not true. Price should be based on quality+playtime. Also graphics DO NOT MATTER. Having steady frames is infinitely more important. Saying a game as good as(for example)Kirby and the forgotten land isn’t worth 60$ because it’s 2D and doesn’t have the best graphics is crazy. Also Mario wonder by definition is AAA.

Still, I'm pretty sure if Splatoon 4 is in development, it'll probably be a Year 1 release for the successor to Nintendo Switch. We're impatient, Nintendo...

Odyssey did get a bit of DLC. We got Luigi’s Balloon World and 3 new costumes: Zombie, Santa, and the 8-bit cap.

There are other AAA games other than Super Mario Odyssey. There is the legend of zelda breath of the wild & tears of the kingdom, & Luigi's Mansion 3. But I am excited for the next console.

In Europe at least where you can't set an MSRP these AA games are usually sold at 40/50€. I don't know if they are cheaper wholesale or if the retailers eat the costs. Though that makes the eshop prices look ridiculous where everything is 60 indeed like Nintendo intends.

I mean... do we even have a choice? I do love that games like Mario & Luigi and Paper mario ttyd are getting so much love. Those were fantastic 3rd party games that offered something the other side and mainline Mario games haven't quite offered. I do like the idea of them giving some of their side content more priority, assuming it's actually worth it and they're trying new ideas and styles with them rather than pumping out remakes or copycats. It does suck that we have to wait so long for the big ones tho ngl.

I think most of us have Nintendo Consoles mainly for Mario games, I would buy third party games if they were cheaper and well made, but with Nintendo they hardly do that. I love Mario but don't like RPG's or remakes so the wait for a new interesting game is very long

When it comes to buying games, I usually don't buy it day 1. I usually wait for reviews regarding how many hours for completion. If the game can be finished within 1-3 days and has no replayability, i would just buy a second hand copy. I like games that are somehow, open-ended, where i can spend 1000+ hours.

You can’t really blame Nintendo for what they are doing, they are just trying to keep us entertained while they cook up the REAL stuff behind the scenes. If it’s taking this long, then it’s probably because the AAA games are becoming way better than their predecessors. Still, we’ve waited this long… 😂

Ngl when I first heard "Nintendo is going to make more AA games." I thought that meant some of their old IPs who ain't multi-million sellers or haven't been so in a while would be getting the spotlight on that. If it's just making more Mario and Zelda spin-offs that's a bit saddening but I wouldn't blame them for doing so.

Honestly, I'm can wait for an new 3D Mario game. My biggest worries is that if they go to the Wii U route where they'll make an 2D Mario game when the system is out and than out of nowhere they'll be an 3D one by an year afterwards. Kinda like going from New Super Mario Bros. U in 2012 and than Super Mario 3D World in 2013. It'll just come at the wrong place at the wrong time.

In all honesty, I STRONGLY agree with Nintendo's strategy regarding future games for the eventual Nintendo Switch successor. I STILL don't mind the $60-$70 price range of new games, as long as I have enough money 💰💵 that I can spit outta my wallet. So, with that said, there's no need to complain because Nintendo just simply likes to operate as they wish.

I agree with your first criterion about game prices but for me that overrides your second. If the game is fantastic and no gameplay elements fall short of timeless, full price. The reason Metroid Prime was cheaper is likely because they want to increase the chances that people will play all 3, plus they already packaged it as a trilogy, and there isn't a huge fan base so they want to build it.

When it comes to AA games, if they give more Mario and Luigi I’m satisfied

Honestly for me it depends of how much fun ill have with a game I'll happily pay hollow knight , shovel knight, Celeste tunic etc full prize because of how much fun they are same goes with games like mario Wonder and even captain toad

To me a one A Nintendo game is something like Nintendo Switch Sports. A double AA game is something like Mario Party or Metroid Dread. And a Triple AAA is obviously 3D Mario’s and 3D Zelda and even Smash games.

Luigi's Mansion 2 was $30 a decade ago, now it's being sold at double the price nothing added. DonkeyKong Country Returns & Paper Mario TTYD were both $50 games being sold at $60 so it isn't as bad & can be thought of as inflation.

Would Star Fox be a AA game? If so then maybe that's why we are getting NEW trademarks for Star Fox as it would be easier to make and get out while we wait for the Mario and zelda games. Just make sure it's polish, its a new story, evolve the gameplay like Assault, add online multiplayer and this is the big one, no forced hardware gimmicks.

Problem is people just want & expect all the same experiences, while also wanting them to be AAA games. Nintendo fans aren't like that, as we've come to appreciate a variety of genres & AA games too. Sony in particular has conditioned PS5 fans to only want these large 3rd person, high budget narrative games. And MS has such a small userbase, that its smaller games don't bring in enough money. They gave people Grounded, Hellblade 2, Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, and soon to be Avowed, Ara and Indiana Jones, but theyll be lucky to sell enough copies without putting them on other consoles. Nintendo fans know the only AAA games Nintendo themselves develop are 3D Mario, Zelda, Smash & Metroid if we're lucky. Everything else doesn’t require a massive budget or crazy graphics, just fun. Splatoon, Animals Crossing, Kirby, Mario Party, Mario Sports games, Paper Mario, Luigi's Mansion... ok, lots of Mario-related stuff, but you get the point 😂

I'd prefer they didn't go any bigger than Super Mario Odyssey, that had a pretty good amount of content in it. I don't want mario ending up like Zelda TotK where it was boring half the time, keep it small Nintendo you're good at that game design concept.

Sure the Mario entry fillers are unsatisfactory at most, but that's limiting the scope to the Mario franchise. Meanwhile other series have gotten some serious attention, like Splatoon, Xenoblade, Metroid, Bayonetta, Zelda (LA and TotK), Kirby, even Smash for a while. These takes need to consider Nintendo's IP library as a whole, in which they have certainly delivered. Some series individually have been compromised entry-wise here and there for the sake of the library, which I also don't like, but Nintendo's output of high quality games OVERALL is something that can be appreciated, at least much more compared to other consoles. I'm willing to learn to enjoy other things Nintendo has to offer while waiting on my favorites to cook. Also 4:49 to say that they started working on Odyssey 2 the day after release when you just commented on Mario Wonder's unstarted development for years after NSMBU, based on the PR of Nintendo themselves, is a silly take. I'm sure it's been in the works for a while, but they've had other significant projects in the meantime, so I think your logic on Odyssey 2's prompt development is not sound

Gonna call BS on the whole video, a single fact you are forgetting, game time doesn't equal how much a game is worth, Metroid Dread can be beaten in less than six hours and it's made to be done quickly, but it takes way too much to make a game of that kind. People can complain all they want about prices and stuff like that, but Nintendo is the one making the call on how to value their own stuff, the real issue is not on them, but on people who doesn't know how to send the right message, if you want to protest about it, all you gotta do is make sure people don't buy the games as a sign of protest, but without piracy in the mix. If it’s a full from the ground up remake, that’s a lot more work, so something like TTYD being 60 I think is more than fair. A game like Mario vs. DK being 50 was fair since it’s a shorter game and smaller experience.
