I know most unscripted Smosh videos usually has a gimmick attached, but i appreciated seeing the boys trying their best at fencing. They both did well!

They did amazing! I used to fence, but my sister was the more dedicated player (almost 8 years), and it was a LOT. Also, I’ve never heard anyone like Courtney THAT vocal at a bout and it’s adorable. 🥰

Are you certain you didn’t already find someone that, with the proper effort and maintenance, could be that friend in your life? I think it's because he got sick right after they filmed the wii sports part, it's why he wasn't in the second part of the other 3 videos and why we got exclusively Ian Kimmy and Courtney as competitors. Most likely the last two of these are both going to have Damien as a competitor and/or share a location with a game Damien competed in

as a former fencer….this video was enjoyable edit: for only learning a few minutes, they are pretty good with defense (the parry riposte)…and offense (the amount of beat attack attempts were good)

@@aurickbiswas8233 yep..most of the time…they didn’t fully commit (to be fair…when you’re not sure about targets…you would be scared to hurt someone) and shayne and damien could have gotten more points

@@aurickbiswas8233 i like that he keeps it close. Damien has way more reach than him, so being more defensive and waiting for the parry could work. Now, I haven't done fencing, but i did something called kali, some similarities. Short AF so i know it works.

Shayne and Damien are laying in the bed together, gazing deeply into each other's eyes half shrouded in darkness and half glowing from the moonlight seeping through the window. Shayne, softly, almost whispering: "No one will know." Damien wordlessly cups Shayne's face, stroking his cheek with a calloused thumb. Shayne mouths just below a whisper: "No one..." Damien finishes: "...but us." To be continued...

He watches a lot of anime, it might be out of habit. I have loved kpop for years and find myself bowing subconsciously out of habit from watching idols do it, so it absolutely could be that. Or Damien could know Asian martial arts, who knows.

In fencing, there are three blades: Epee, Foil, and Sabre. Here, they're fencing Foil. In fencing, you have both electric fencing (where the fencers are hooked up to a light that lights up when there's an on-target hit) and steam, seen here. Foil has the lightest blade and the smallest target of the three blades. In foil, you have to strike the torso of your opponent with the tip of your blade. If both fencers hit on-target, whoever initiated the attack gets the point. This is called Right of Way, and whoever has right of way gets the point. You lose right of way if you are parried or if you miss. Parrying is when you use your blade to deflect an opponent's attack. This is the defensive equivalent to a Beat, which is when you hit the opponent's blade (or beat it) to knock it out of the way and enable you to attack. Epee is the simplest of the three blades. Like foil, you have to hit with the tip of your blade. Unlike foil, however, the entire body (and head) is a valid target, and there is no right of way. This means that if there are two simultaneous hits, both fencers score a point. Sabre (my blade) differs from foil and epee in that you can hit the opponent with the entirety of the blade, rather than just the tip. Everything above the legs is a valid target, and sabre has right of way like foil. Unlike foil and epee, in sabre you hold the blade vertically.

Fencing is all about reach and both were very similar in their attacks so I'm not surprised Damien had more points IRL. Good on Shayne for keeping up with a disadvantage and as always these two know how to make it entertaining

This switch sports series is such a clever idea and really fun to watch!! Having a real fencing person come in to show them basics is a great idea and made this video a slam dunk. I’m glad it was Damien and Shayne together, too

This is awesome, I think the rest of the cast would’ve been better off if they had their own commentary table/camera setup so they wouldn’t have had to stand awkwardly in the back but overall I love this concept.
