They simply said they will "Announce" it during the 2nd half of the year; likely in the September direct. They never said they'd release it and also said they will not mention it in June.

Jan./Feb. reveal, for a March/April, '25 release. They'll max. '24 holiday game sales, then use the full fiscal year, for the best sales report to investors, in April, '26. Sales Manager here lol

@@docc19 You don't think that it's cross gen? That'd be pretty odd. I mean literally their Development Update video on youtube is titled, "Development Update on Metroid Prime 4 for Nintendo Switch." From what I see, the thinking should be: "No way it's not on Nintendo Switch." People would not be happy considering how long people have waiting for this thing on switch.

In addition to the launch issues, Nintendo is likely planning for the first year and then the next two, since the success of a system is generally determined by sales over the first three years. The first year always gets a bump because the system is new. How they transfer 140 million over to the new system over a three year period is really crucial. Also complicating this is that Nintendo has said that they do not want to have to split their focus between two systems, so I do not think they will go about this the same way that Sony has even if the new system has backwards compatibility. I also think it would be a bit of an unnecessary gamble to just do an abrupt move to the new system, even though that is more likely. If the new system has some way of bridging the two generations then it would be best for them to start to give folks some of the features and concepts before a lot of the specs leak and before the holiday season where the original switch will likely see its first price drop.

I think the many YTers boosted the hype for Switch 2 so much with their rumors and speculations on a daily basis, that it started to cannibalize the Switch 1 sales already (more and more potencial customers started to play a game of waiting, instead of buying a Switch 1). And that's why they had to throw in something that can stop the speculation and ensures a last decent holiday season. In June's Direct they will drop some nuclear bombs, like Metroid Prime 4, maybe a Metroid Prime 2 and 3 Remastered, a Wind Waker and/or Twilight Princess remastered and they will secure their fine holiday sales volume. And AFTER that, the successor can be announced, 1st Q of 2025, with a summer or fall launch, so the Switch 2 sales can accelerate before and for 2025's holiday season.

My guess is that once they launch the Switch 2 they'll stop production on the red box Switch and then cut the price of the Switch Lite to $150 and the Switch OLED to $300 with the Switch 2 launching at $400. I can't see Nintendo only having a $50 price difference between their brand new system and their legacy system and I also can't see Nintendo selling their new console for more than $400. If their parts prices have somehow come way down then MAYBE the Switch OLED could drop even more to like say $279.99 but realistically there will likely be at least $100 difference between the old and the new to clearly indicate to the public that this new thing is better EVEN IF it possibly doesn't have as nice of a screen with it possibly going back to LCD instead of OLED for the initial model. Of course, even if it does this I could totally see Nintendo coming out with a mid-gen refresh 4 years in where they bring back the OLED screen along with a possible die shrink and slight re-design.

Hyped for the direct next month. Hoping its a banger, they drop ports of Prime2 and 3. More details of Prime4. The most wanted Wind waker and Twilight princess ports separately. Wind Waker is ready to drop as is. Bring Luidis mansion 1 to the switch pls. Samus Returns and Link between worlds brought over like luigis mansion2. 2d Zelda remake on the way and for NSO give us DK64, Zero mission and maybe Conkers bad fur day! There's my list. PS2 sold around 160 million units according to different sources I've searched. However, Switch could still potentially beat that number somehow and the DS sold around 154 million units so it would have to beat out the DS first.

Sony & Microsoft rushed out their current consoles and stumbled out the gate. In terms of games, they still haven’t quite recovered. Nintendo is doing the right thing by taking their time announcing this system and whatever games they’re launching over that year.

14:00 facts, I'm tired that every single youtuber (except OJ) still have this misconception that Switch 2 needs more third party AAA games, not first party nor third party exclusives to avoid another "wii u failure". Switch already debunk that claim, it jsut shows those Ytbers not only never do research, but they also never liked Nintendo Switch in the first place and just tries to downplay the system whenever they can.

Nintendo doomed is the oldest clickbait for the people who still think the console war still happening. The actual pressure for 3rd party is coming from investors. But not for 3rd party triple A. They will be seriously asking that the switch 2 get support from mobile games like genshin and such that are already on consoles and PC that should no longer be held back by the tegra and the pre-iphone 6 tech of the switch.

I predicted march (6 or 10- Mario day) 2025 even as early as 2019 but i've been laught off! Meanwhile i start to think that march 2025 will be even the EARLIEST possible release date for the Switch Up! After THIS announcement who is fool enough to even DREAM of Switch Up releasing as early as 2024?!😂😂😂
