This video is absolutely fantastic for the procedure but it would be really good if you added these notes: Typical household hairdryers only get up to around 200F, not enough to flow solder. Solder flows around 350F so you need a decent heat gun. 900F for prolonged time will start to melt the plastic and pop other solder joints up (did this by accident on one). 500-700 seems to be the ideal heat range if you have an adjustable heat gun or looking to buy one.

@@PeterSaverman just like anything I doubt there is a magic number. I started off with 3 seconds of heat then test. If that didnt work then try 6 seconds, then 9 seconds just to be safe. When I hit 15 seconds things came unsolderes I didn't want to haha

Tried, tested, and it worked! Some warnings though, -I had trouble with a couple screws, I stripped two, and managed to get one out, but for the other one I had to end up breaking a part of the plastic backing to open it up. Just bad luck I think but be cautious with unscrewing. Luckily there are backplates for sale on amazon if this happens to you too. -The metal plate covering the wifi chip was a bit hard to get up so be delicate. I used a small flat head screwdriver to gently pry the sides of the metal square, and then popped up the end with the chip off with my fingers. -When re-assembling, the place the chip/wifi plate back, be sure that everything is aligned and it will simply snap back in place with a gentle push. The SD card reader is the same (with small holes to help align). I used the heat gun at 450 and heated up the piece just as described, worked perfectly :)

Using sublimation tape would that helpful. And could I use a great gun with a tip adapter? Where you using a heat gun or a hot air soldering station? What temp? If I use a heat gun do you have a recommendation as to how long I should leave it. Thanks. Sorry for so many questions, they really were covered in the video. Thanks again

using hot air station is best with a small nozzle to control the heat, we set at 450 deg airspeed 60 on the quick 861dw. also using Kapton tape to cover the area around where your heating is best to protect everything else so you don't damage anything less in the area.

possible not enough heat or not applying heat long enough can cause issue remember you just want to get it hot enough to melt solder ball under chip to reseat the chip properly. what happen is chip get to hot and solder connection under the chip get disconnected. also if you have so flex to put under chip it may also help flow it better or the chip will have to be replaced. hope this helps.

How about a bright yellow... I woke up today and my switch was on but had a blank black screen.. looked up on line and it mentioned to hold down the power button for 20 seconds so I did... After holding it down and pressing the button again the Nintendo logo showed. A few seconds later the screen turned bright yellow. I've tried the 20 second power thing and tried looking for anything online but all I can find is about the orange screen. Much appreciated if you've came across the yellow screen and know what to do.

be very careful if that your only choice. we use hot air station set 450 deg, you need high setting and mask all-around chip and plastic so nothing gets damaged. be careful let me know your outcome.

you need a heat gun to direct heat tothat chip.

disassemble the motherboard, put it in a oven at 200°C for 3-7 minutes. Just make sure that the motherboard is leveled properly. If it moves during the reflow procedure, it will be unservable.

same, my switch lite was like a turbine when the orange screen appeared it all Happened in 1 day, i got 3 times oranges screens...fucked up bullshit nintendo consoles didnt hit it or something, it was cold when i started playing and 1min later turbine sounds
