Whoever designed a usb port that is soldered to the board can't male it to heaven. The usb c should be on a daughter board with a flex connect to the board.

Yep, I can confirm from experience this is not an easy repair. You can easily overheat things or tear off pads when removing the old port.

Thank you very much for this video it was really detailed! I've attempted the fix but i'm not 100% sure that it's perfect. If the port is badly soldered can it mess up other chips? I'm worried of trying and plugging the battery because of this.

Have you ran any diagnosis with a multimeter on the M92T36 chip to see if any of the pins were shorted? Even if one single pin has a short, you have to replace the entire thing. The same goes with the USB port. My switch actually has a problem with both and I have to replace them.

So basically if the USB c port is broken, the switch won't turn on, even with some battery juice? Cause my switch was working fine, it's just my charge port could only charge a certain way, so I used a toothpick to try moving the inside of the port and now my switch won't turn on at all.

What is the liquid solution you used to clean the connector pads? I've been working on usb-c power port on an Acer chromebook 771 model and the jack itself has small pins that correspond to holes on the motherboard. When I remove the power port, the holes on the motherboard holes remain full of solder. I've tried solder wick as well as a metal probe with a fine point to see if I could pop the solder out, but that way doesn't work.

he is using flux and desoldering wick. The key is to keep all the soldering points and wick flooded in flux. It prevents the oxidation of point and becoming chunks , keep the soldering points heated up so it can be removed easily.

@IntelliAli

thats why you use a HDMI Microscope :) + low melt solder + a flux which fluids the solder onto pads Solder bridges if you use too much solder. Use solder based on how much the component or the pin needs and the distance between the two components! Soldering is art. it requires practice, patience and experience!

For example, you do not use the switch for a longer period. How to behave the best if you take a break of a.) 1-2 weeks? b.) 3 months? c.) 6 months? d.) 1 year? So that the especially the accumulator of the switch will NOT get damaged... e.) Or how to behave the best if you almost daily use the switch in Dock mode? f.) Or how to behave the best if you almost daily use the switch in portable mode? Devices with accumulators that are not used for a longer period should always be changed between 80-20% of their maximal capacity. They should be stored in a dry place and not exposed to the sun and to the cold. So a good stocking place could be a cupboard in a room that is dry and heated in winter and the switch should never be exposed by temperatures over 40 degrees. right so far? Especially the first switch models that are customer firmware compatible without soldering contain a weaker accumulator then the new switch models. It would be good if an old switch could be preserved as long as possible and could be still used in 2050 ;-) Sega`s game gear is still working today if the common problem of the capacitors is solved. Is for the first switch also a common hardware problem already know? Or according to the PCB layout and the used electronic components which most likely problem could occur in the future? What is your best strategy to ensure a long product life of the Switch? Thank you in advance for your time and advice.
