Actually, *Spoilers Alert* the end of the E3 trailer (you can find it in their channel) shows Ganondorf's face so I'm pretty sure he'll be a playable character (unless Nintendo decides to make him only be the final boss)

Groose would just be a waste of space. Noone likes Tingle and has been deconfirmed as playable by Aonuma in an interview, stating that he doesn't have a fanbase. SkullKid and Ganondorf are evil, and no evil character is shown as playable - if they won, what would the ending even be like? Goron/Zora has a chance, seeing that there's a Goron Captain on the Hyrule Field stage. Again, waste of space with Tetra and Toon Link Linebeck? Not even considered. Saria? While silly, she is a sage after all... Deku would be silly. HMSM... Just no. Navi sort of already exists, not as playable, but Link has a fairy companion. Don't even joke about that. It would be awful. Lastly, I'm going to point out that there's at least one more playable character we've seen already - the blue-haired girl from the first trailer. She also appears in official artwork with her, Link, and Zelda.

My issue, is that it IS the same as past DW games. It doesn't look any better than Ken's Rage, or Pirate Warriors 2. It does look a lot better than the Gundam games, but those were... god awful. Just plain awful.

it might happen. depends on how big the character roster actually is. there seems to be 9 slots in this demo they're showing, so if that's the final roster, most likely not. however, in the most recent dynasty warriors game there's.... like... 82? playable characters. so... depends on just how big the roster gets. considering they've mentioned that you'll be able to play as your favorite character.... I'm hoping that means a fairly large roster. (possibly the various sages, nearly the entire twilight princess cast, etc.? ...being hopeful here though.)

Ixbran Why not? Hyrule Warriors is a non canon and being made by a different company, complete with a lore breaking fanfiction-esque storyline that throws in random characters like Midna in for the sake of fan service. It might as well be lumped in with fangames, it just has a larger budget.

UndyingNephalim Nintendo acknowledges Hyrule Warriors as a "celebration" title, one they are funding and help develop. hyrule: total war is a fan made game that nintendo never approved of, and probably don't even know of, or care about. Neither games are canon in the zelda timeline, but Eiji has gone on record saying that Hyrule Warriors has its own canon time line. And if successful, they might continue with more entries, making Hyrule Warriors a series.
