I actually liked what Metal J did with this hidden gems video because some are already pricey so you can say he made the prices rise up. it’s really not him and I’ve blamed him once in an earlier video but it’s really not his fault and I feel bad I accused him of it, he’s just talking to us gamers but unfortunately there’s also scalpers that watches these just to go buy em all up. But yeah Gamestop has a few of these and they are really good. I snagged my copy of pandora a few weeks ago for $20 at gamestop. Great game!

I'd say Opoona is a game I don't see mentioned much, Rodea the Skysoldier is another interesting one that was released on the Wii U with a dual pack that contained its original superior Wii version making it a weird kind of last "real" game released on the Wii if we don't count Just Dance every year.

heh, funny u should mention that. I was actually one of the lucky ones to get a first run copy of rodea on release, as I had already knew about it since it was originally announced for the Wii a few years prior. Plus it was a game that yuji naka heavily worked on so I knew I had to have it!

I have a collection spanning PS1, SNES, and Gameboy to PS3 and Switch, and I've never spent a cent on dlc. I never will, either. If you're a developer and have more content you are going to release and charge money for after people already bought your game, my attitude is "well, I guess that extra content must not too important if you didn't think it was worth including on the cartridge/disc." Otherwise you'd just make a part of the complete game everyone buys. Seriously. Fuck dlc. Fuck non-physical game formats, too. Maybe I'll start buying digital if my physical games literally deteriorate into being non-functional, but so far literally everything I own, even cartridges from the late 80s, still works flawlessly. I could rant so much about game industry practices.

One of the really positive things about the fact the Wii was underpowered,I think, is that it gave an outlet for developers that wanted to focus more on gameplay than overwhelming graphics engines and yearly-release shooters. It's just too bad that those were buried under mountains of shovelware.

Overall, yes. It's an exaggeration to call it an overclocked GameCube, but its specs are trash. However, I do like the Wii's form factor, the easy alternative it offers to buying component cables for a GameCube, and most of all the UI for the system. The XBOX 360's pins are a headache to put in the order you wanted, and the PS3 only allows you to sort apps into folders, not put them in a set order. Wii and Wii U were both VERY good at allowing you to customize where everything was laid out.

Which console would you say is the best for on-rail shooters? Wii is pretty good, but the accessories are a bit odd and not all of them work with every on-rails game that the wii has (top shot elite is one example). I just ordered a "perfect shot" by Nyko, but the design was worse (less comfortable) than the no-brand 3-d printed ones I ordered from amazon. I like the idea of a two-handed gun (i hate the wii zapper) because your hand/arm can get tired after holding it for a short while

First up is Torneko no Daibouken which is spinoff series from the character in Dragon Quest Ⅳ. Shiren gave birth in 1995 as a second mystery dungeon game after Torneko and has now 8 titles in various consoles. Compared to both games made a significant influence in popularity in Japan, Pokemon mystery dungeon is nothing but just a baby. Plus, Torneko and Shiren are much more deeper even in gameplay. Oh, I almost forgot. Besides those games, there is Chocobo's mysterious dungeon series made by Square and Banpresto.

I'm glad you mentioned Pandora's Tower. That and The Last Story got overshadowed by Xenoblade Chronicles, which is unfortunate because all three are great. I'd also recommend the Wii beat em up, Spyborgs, especially if you're in PAL territory because the version they got is technically a later version of the game that balanced the A.I. much better.

Love your videos.. i am planning on purchasing a S/H Wii purely for the light gun games, will get as many as are affordable whenever I see them for sale.. But seeing your Wii hidden gems videos has made me realise there are some other types of game that I just must have like No more Heroes, for example. I am now conflicted on whether to get a Wii gen 1 or a Wii U.. I was originally going to get a Wii Gen 1 as all the S/H ones sold at Eb are warrantied and come with a nunchuck, remote and SENSOR bar.. But the big thing is I can play all my original Gamecube discs.. and I have some true classics for G/C like double dash/wave Race/F Zero GX/Sanity's Requiem/Geist/Total Warrior/Etc.. But the WiiU dropped GC support. So do i just keep my GC console and get a Wii U for wii games, and get the sensor bar/remotes etc as I find them.. Or does the WiitoHDMI adapter actually give 1080P like the WiiU, on wii Games? I presume the original Wii is only 480P like the gamecube? (I use the component adapter on gamecube).. The issue is the TV is 60" 4K so gamecube leaves bars at either side, not the end of the world, but it's fairly blurry, and I figured 1080P would be much nicer.. If the only way to play all Wii games in HD is to get a WiiU, I think I'll just keep my 720P sony bravia 28" TV for GC/PS2/Dreamcast rather than trying to have them all on the 60". Maybe that will solve it. And get a WiiU dedicated solely to Wii and Wii U games.. but any advice appreciated. Also it SUCKS that apparently the wii AND wiiU shops are now closed.. you can't add more credits and buy the virtual console games anymore.. grrr.. I do have a new 3ds XL.. are there any major virtual console games on the WII that i'll be missing out on, that I can't get on my 3DS? I got the ones I really want so far, castlevania of course, a couple sega titles, and so forth...

My wii hidden gem is probably Rodea the Sky Soldier; it didn't even get its own case, it was bundled in with the game of the same name for the Wii U (though the wii and wii u versions are pretty much different games altogether). It's one of the only games I've played where I feel like the motion controls actually help it be easier to control and more fun. It feels a bit like a mix between Sonic and NiGHTS, two of my favorite series, so I would definitely recommend you try it out (the wii u version is no good sadly)

Gormidi was also in the united states as well but it never caught on around here. I probably saw a couple of episodes here and there years ago.

Great shout out for the Zapper when playing the CoD games on the Wii! I love playing FPS games with the Zapper. Like you said MJR, it's a one-of-a-kind experience only found on the Wii (and Wii U). Good call.

Thank you for making these Wii Hidden Gems videos. The Wii is somewhat underated imo, as people tend to think that the Wii is a complete dumbster fire, with not much of anything worth playing. These videos really help showcase that there is other games worth playing on it. I currently own quite a few titles myself, some of which you've shown in past videos, and a few I've bought along the way. Yes the Wii has garbage to dig through, but if you can spend the effort to do that, then you might just be surprised what's buried in the lot. And that makes the Wii one of the best hidden gems consoles imo.

for myself, watching metaljesus' wii related videos are more enjoyable than actually playing any wii games except for resident evil 4, at least from my experience. felt so good when i sold most of my wii stuffs early this year. yet, it is fun to watch any wii related videos lol.

Pinball Hall of Fame the Gottlieb Collection and especially the Williams Collection work particularly well with Wii motion control for nudging the M/C and flipper separation on Wiimote and nunchuck. One of the best pinball simulations ever!

If you like Shiren the Wanderer, Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon, also on the Wii, plays very similarly. There are actually a lot of them for a variety of franchises on consoles from the Wii all the way down to the SNES. I've seen Dragon Warrior (Talloon/Torneko), Final Fantasy (Chocobo), and even Pokémon, and each franchise is tweaked to play just a little differently; the franchise is called Fushigi na Dungeon or Mystery Dungeon. Also, I've been on the fence about Pandora's Tower for a long time, now, but seeing it in action has finally convinced me.

Never expected to see a Kamen Rider game here, Jason. You should probably check Kamen Rider Climax Heroes series that were also released for the Wii. It's japanese, but it plays the same way as KRDK.

Calling. Though it was good. It's the Disney version of Fatal Frame. You should play Fatal Frame 2 Wii and Fatal Frame 4. Those are some hidden gems.

Wii had so many awesome games that most people had no idea existed. Oh and those Wii CoD games were my favorite console iterations thanks to the controls.
