Yuzu did this to themselves by having the Patreon hence why they settled so Nintendo will not drown them out since Nintendo is like the Mafia. The only thing bad about this is 3DS emulation is affected by this since that console is discontinued since the 3DS eshop is gone since Citra 3DS emulator is made by the same team and they also had a Patreon on that. my stance on emulation is this if it is an old retro game console that is discontinued that is fine to emulate since there is no legitimate way to play those games since they are old, but however if it is a new game console like a Nintendo Switch that is readily available in stores at reasonable prices then just buy a switch and play the game. The only time anyone realistically now should emulate a switch game on Yuzu and Ryujinx is if they own that switch game with their own money to support the devs. People need to learn to stop being broke and support the things they like. You either right or your not b0nd 100%

Not sure if you saw but a spurned former team member had also posted a lot of the proof that nintendo used in their suit earlier this year. There are screenshots of people named in the suit uploading whole roms of switch games to discord for them to work on which completely blows the whole against piracy argument out of the water. hopefully ryujinx wasnt this stupid.

I just love your hypocrisy bond. Didn't you encourage people to play Nintendo games on emulators because of the switch bad performance. So now emulators are bad. I pirate games and i will always do it.Nintendo didn't win as long there is the mig switch or ryujinx. Piracy is needed to keep these companies in check.

When it comes to new games, I agree that piracy is wrong because you're basically stealing from the developer. But when it comes to retro games that are very pricey (specifically the ones that aren't even supported by the company anymore), then its a different story because a lot of those developers that made those games from 30-40 years ago have shut down & don't even exist anymore, so the only way to play those games affordably is to emulate them. The best example is Panzer Dragoon Saga for the now defunct Sega Saturn. In the retro collectors market, a loose disc of Panzer Dragoon Saga will run you about $500 and a full in-box set will be around $1000 or $1500. There's no way in hell that I'm spending $1500 on a damn game, so emulation it is! Its not about being "broke", its about being smart. Why tf would I pay $1500 on a single game when I can buy tons of other games for that same amount? You know how many games I can buy for $1500, and ya'll expect me to spend that amount on a single game? LOL yeah ya'll crazy if ya'll think that's gonna happen.

Im all for emulation only when its actually intended to preserve games. Like making backup copies of your physical games or playing games/consoles that are just no longer on the market. The issue is when emulators are made for current gen consoles that are still on the market. At that point your doing it for piracy. Maybe a very small percentare going out and buying a Switch game to dump it and play it on their PC but not the majority.

6 new emulaters are now in development using the open source code from Yuzu. So infact Yuzu is now something else new and better than before. It's happened before and it'll happen again and again

Never mess with Nintendo. They are ruthless when it comes to taking down emulators and ROM sites. They forced Emuparadise to shut down and now they are forcing the shutdown of Citra and Yuzu.

Issue is stuff like this doesn't stop piracy. If you kill one rom site 10 more pop up. Mix that with the fact that new emulators get made using the source code of the shut down ones and Nintendo is just cutting off hydra heads. Valve beat piracy but just offering good deals on stuff, and providing such good service pc piracy became pointless.

IMO, Nintendo taking down Citra is vile, because the 3DS is many years past end-of-life. Meanwhile its younger brother CemU is well and alive. I understand them taking down Yuzu, but also, it’s kind of a necessary way for some people to experience the Xenoblade trilogy and Pokémon Scarlet/Violet without massive framerate/resolution drops.

@@game-sheriff Nintendo will never make a proper “pro” console, because they know if they did, nobody outside of the tiniest vocal minority would buy it (unlike PS/Xbox where the masses embraced the jump to 4K) The last time Nintendo put more juice in a system, that being from 3DS to new 3DS, outside of like 6 exclusives, only like 15 of the 3DS’ existing hundreds of games even utilized the extra power to remove framerate drops. Pokémon fans might ask for better hardware, but god knows they wouldn’t replace their Switch with a Switch Pro and instead wait for the Switch 2 (which if backwards-compatible at all, might not even benefit old switch titles with any boosts as past backwards-compatible Nintendo consoles neglected to do)

You’re being overdramatic champ 😂 the yuzu builds are already all over the web and there are already 4 new yuzu forks so people are still gonna continue downloading switch roms and playing switch games for free on steam decks and other PCs its the hydra effect one head chop off multiple heads are produced shoot I updated to the latest build before the original yuzu got taken down but all the 1st party titles run excellent and installed mods and enhanced the graphics and framerate to 60fps and the switch at the end of the cycle anyway its not like any other fire 1st parties will be released so yeah enjoy paying $60 for 7 year old games 😣

Im confused, whats wrong with Yuzu wanting to make money off there own work? You do realize that making an emulator is not easy right? In order to make a emulator you have to: Study how the hardware works, then take that knowledge you gained about the hardware and write your own code that functionally dose the same thing as the hardware, you release your emulator to the world for others to test and try, then finally you work over the course of years constantly listening to community feedback, making patches to the emulator and perfecting the emulator until it has a high compatibility with most games. None of this is easy to do and any one of these steps could take years of work to accomplish and keep in mind through out this entire process Nintendo did not help even once. So my question is: If Nintendo can make money off the work they do to make their games then why can't Yuzu make money off the work they do to make their emulator? The way I see it is: If they put in the work to make the emulator then they should be compensated for that work in some way. Im not saying they have to paywall the download link to the emulator but they at least can ask for donations. This whole thing feels extremely bias and inconsiderate towards Yuzu and over all is a huge double standard.

As much as Nintendo may have been my homeboys since I had my Game Boy Advance SP when I was a kid, I must admit this is crazy and I take the L for it. I do love PC gaming and its a big loss to the Steam Deck and other handheld PC lovers. I am a PC gamer myself and I will consider getting a Steam Deck OLED alongside the Switch 2 and my already powerful gaming PC with an RTX 3060 12 GB version, Ryzen 5 3600, and 32GB RAM and its still great for modern ganes and I might consider upgrading in 2026.

Odd that you're defending a billion dollar corporation that doesn't even know you exist though. They still make a lot of money from their games, so emulation isn't harming them much.
