Probably because NES games doesn't have hours of gameplay unlike games today. You could beat a game like Mario in less than a hour. Also less loading game. Games today take more patience and much longer. You can just speed run in NES games!
@lmcgregoruk4 жыл бұрын
@@Patrick19833 Most games back then were designed to be completed in one sitting, since the only saves they had were generally password-based. Unless you had a game with battery backup, it was probably designed to be finished in one sitting. I know parents didn't want to let their kids pause the game for hours at a time wasting electricity. I know my friend had just finished defeating the technodrome in "Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles", and my mum told us to turn off the NES, because we had to go out. The same guy that I just watched finish off the technodrome also said the dam level was hard. I mean OK, maybe the dam level is hard if you don't swap out turtles, but I watched a lot of stuff after that, that looked a LOT harder than defusing the bombs in the dam. Like saving splinter from the fake turtle.
@Mr.White10-653 жыл бұрын
@@Patrick19833 NOW you can, but back then when it was new to us, you DID have to play for hours. We had no idea how to beat a game quickly back then at all. Legend of Zelda is a perfect example of a game that took forever to figure out how to beat. I still have a few names saved from the 80's and they are STILL on the game. Mario....I can beat it fast NOW, but back then....no way. Something else to consider, back in the 80's, unless it was absolutely horrible weather and nothing to do, EVERYONE went out a lot in the 80's. There was a lot more to do.

What I don't understand is that this was 1990? If this was 1990, the 16-bit Sega Genesis was also out at the time. NES should still look less realistic to him compare to the Sega Genesis. Also, there were better looking games at the arcades. Outrun came out in 1986 for crying out loud! NES games still look obsolete to me even back then because I went to the arcades a lot. TMNT II: The Arcade Game on the NES looks much worse than the actual arcade version for example! You could see big difference right away.

Yeah tell that to video game addicted with no life. It is scary. A lot of guys say it doesn’t affect their life, but they still aren’t successful in life, and wonder why. Well maybe if you didn’t grow up with dopamine overdoes you’re whole life might’ve been different, even if you are successful and have a family plenty of men aren’t. Most gamers can’t even concede its addicting and you need to be careful it doesn’t overtake you’re life, and good part of them have been taken over.

I bought an nes on ebay last april, it came with eleven games cubicle kickle, tmnt, tmnt 2 the arcade etc. back in 1988 or 1989 I was 8 or 9, I was in a big store with my mother and my older sister I remember seeing this nes on display and connected up to a tv and it had a copy of the first tmnt game in it. as soon as I saw it I went over to it and started playing it, this was coming up to Christmas time. as soon as I started playing it I was hooked and I just had to get one for Christmas, I remember the Christmas morning getting up coming up to the room to open the presents and when I saw I got an nes I could not believe it, other games I had for it were airwolf which I never played until I got a copy of it on the nes I bought from ebay. I had supermario bros, I think it was just 2 and 3 I had, tmnt was the first game and the first frustrating one at that i played. it took me weeks to master it but i did and it was a proud moment.

@plateshutoverlock2 жыл бұрын
"tapes" - that annoyed the crap out of me. But I understand why they called NES cartridges "tapes" because the size and form factor were much like 8 track cartridges, and that the US NES was deliberately designed to resemble a VCR due to "video game console" being a dirty thing after the US VG Crash of 1983. The same reason for the NES being named an "entertainment system" avoiding any wording that would label it as a mere "video game console"
