Thanks and yeah, revenants are the way to go with just about anything armor wise now. In the early days of the game though, it wasn't that way, and now that was a grind!

Building a hybrid of this dual sword and kusuragama from the other build. It not going to be maximum damage, but it's fun as hell. Armors are Sanada and Master Swordsman, all with attack added. Just the grind to get new bits leveled up man... but I tell yah, I feel I will be playing this till doomsday.

Yeah, the grind can be a bit much. I've been grinding all week testing different stuff out, and I seriously need a couple of days off before I go crazy haha.

Hey I say keep it coming. People here seem to like the loadout help, and even though I don't play the game and wouldn't understand half the lingo about a specific build, I do like watching new and different ways of killing things and getting the most out of the gear.

It's a good perk to have if you're heavy. Haven't tested actual numbers yet.

Hey man, thanks for the comment. Isn't it impossible to wear 9 pieces of these two armor sets? I mean, there are 5 armor slots, and 4 weapon slots in total. Warrior of the West set has 2 weapons. A Master Swordsman has 1. That is 3 weapons to fill the 4 slots, which leaves one empty slot that these two sets cannot fill. Since there are only 9 slots in total, and 1 of them can't be filled by these two sets, doesn't that mean it is only possible to wear 8 pieces of of these sets in total? I'm guessing you meant 4 pieces of the Warrior of the West's set, making 8 pieces of these two sets in total? If so, that would allow you to get the 5th perk of the Warrior of the West set, which is 27.5% extra close combat attack (CCA). That's not close combat damage (CCD) though. Two different stats. One applies to your attack value, the other to the end damage you inflict from your attack. So maybe you're talking about something else? Regarding guardian spirit, if you swap Kato for Paired Raiken you also lose 12.5% close combat attack (CCA). This drops your close combat attack gain to 15%. But you also lose 20% skill damage. That is not a 5% difference, as one is on top of your attack value while the other is calculated on damage inflicted. So here you kind of gain potential damage on overall attacks, but you definitely lose 5% or more (depending on the situation) of damage when using skills. Given there is literally zero CCD to be gained by wearing an extra piece of Warrior of the West or using Paired Raiken as far as I can see, I'm struggling to understand how you figure you're getting an extra 32% close combat damage (CCD)? Am I missing something?

I did mean CCA. And you get a 32.9% increase to CCA when the enemy is electrified. As for the difference between CCA and CCD, I actually don't think there is one since the description on both says 'increases close combat damage' but I haven't bothered to test so I could be wrong there. Now as part of the Warrior of the west's honour set I have the sword, bow, gloves and boots. 4 pieces give me the 5 piece bonus when using the yasakani magatama. For the master swordsmans power set I have dual swords, chest and legs. 3 pieces give me the 4 piece bonus. 7 pieces out of 9...That configuration leaves me with a spare ranged weapon slot and a spare helmet slot. I keep a ravenwing rifle in the ranged slot for damage reduction and regen on bullseye and I'm playing around with helmets right now. Because helmets tend to have unique effects I figured that was the best slot to have free, I use kodama bowl/nue mask/warrior monk's hood/onmyo mages eboshi etc. I've never been a kato user so that loss in skill damage was never an issue for me. And I think that's how the devs intended for the set to be used... Use raiken to shock and use your speed advantage to get a high damage combo in, plus if you're using the set sword or any other weapon with an element you'd also send the enemy into discord/chaos. So extra damage and combo potential. Edit: another reason to be pro raiken is for the +18% yokai close combat damage and +17.5% skill ki damage.

CiWill this is similar to what I'm currently using, I add a piece of kingos armor (sanada if I had it). The only difference is I don't use paired raiken, I use tengen kujaku as it provides the highest damage boost by a decent margin, with extraction talismans, and I use lightning shot to proc electrification, and then lightning talismans to keep em that way. Requires a little bit more prep but it becomes habit after a while

Chap Hammersmith sounds like a nice setup, I've always considered tengen myself but I'm just so comfortable with raiken that I'm not bothered to change lol. The only problem with that could be the lightning talismans taking up a slot. With raiken you're doing lightning damage in LW so that sustains the extra damage for as long as you attack. Lightning shots are a good alternative if you want to use a different spirit, I'd look for a lightning weapon over a talisman personally... Shortcut slots are precious.

CCA and CCD are different. The description for each should also be different. One should say "increases attack power during close combat" while the other should say "increases close combat damage". But I've already seen descriptions can be different by region, so not sure. What I do know though is they are different. CCA adds a percentage of your overall attack to your total attack value prior to dealing damage. CCD adds a percentage of extra damage to the damage you dealt after your attack is completed. So there can be a significant difference between the two, or there can be none. It all depends on how much damage you dealt in your attack versus how much of your attack was guarded/absorbed/defended against. If your attack occurred while the enemy is out of ki, the damage should be the same. If not, then CCD should do more damage, as should skill damage. So yeah, your build is good and I'm glad you enjoy it, but with the exception of Paired Raiken doing some close combat damage to Yokai, I couldn't consider any of these options when making a "Close Combat Damage Build" as they don't actually add any extra close combat damage. Though in defense of your build, if lightning has been proc'd, then they will add more actual damage providing the attack isn't absorbed in any way and also providing the enemy isn't resistant to lightning. So yeah, pro's and con's I guess is how we can put it.

Nah that's okay, I get so used to explaining things in my various videos that I often just skip over a lot of stuff I've covered before, so it's all good. The Yasakani Magatama accessory reduces set requirements by 1. So, if you wear 1 piece you get the bonus of 2. If you wear 2 pieces you get the bonus as if you were wearing 3. And so on. That's why this build is able to benefit from pieces from 4 different sets.

Good luck. Apart from the one mission it's guaranteed to drop, it's pretty rare to get it. So brace yourself for a grind unless RNG is smiling down on you.

It's named differently in different regions. Killing Strike is the same as Final Blow Damage.

It depends on the enemy as different enemies have different move sets and use different weapons, which require a different timing. Each enemy has what I'd call a "sweet spot" for when to parry. Their "sweet spot" is usually somewhere between the start and mid point of their attack, typically bang in the middle. Unfortunately to get it right on each enemy comes down to practicing. Marobashi is a good spot to practice over and over as you get a variety of enemies with different moves and weapons to practice on. Yagyu Shinkage Style armor gives a perk that widens the "sweet spot" time a little, so if you're struggling, use a Yasakani Magatama and a couple of pieces of Yagyu armor until you start to feel comfortable with it, then take the armor off. It just takes a bit of practice.

Yes it does. They all do. Yours is probably called Killing Strike, but it's the same thing, just named differently (it's a region thing).

Total RNG. What I do is I go out and farm Revenants until one drops with CCD of 15% as an inheritable. Usually takes an hour or two, but I always get it. Trying to forge it is like finding a needle in a haystack. Some people savescum. You can do that if you're willing to have that 0.01% game save corrupt, which has happened to some people. That said, I have a weapon today that I need to put it on and I'm going to have to forge it. Sigh.

I've actually never really done amrita runs as I've never been too concerned about my level. It's just going up with me farming for gear and play testing things really. But, if I did do a run it probably wouldn't look too much different to my six boss shrike train video with the exception of putting on perks for amrita gained. The new Marobashi mission piles on the amrita and gold, and you can get through it in seconds. I think if I used a guardian spirit to down the human bosses instead of parrying them it would go a bit faster too. If you want to run that and not parry either, then yeah, use a guardian spirit talisman while running with Mizuchi (he's my favorite btw) to down them, then final blow them. I can't think of an easier farming run than that off the top of my head.

You're the 3rd person to ask me that today. I've never really farmed amrita before as leveling is something that I just let happen as I play. I'll think about it though :)

I hear you. I've been through that so many times with all these builds it's not funny. Today RNG seems to be with me today. I'm working on a sword and in 4 rolls I rolled 3 of the max stats for close combat I was after. Couldn't believe it. Should have taken out a lotto ticket.

Never tried it there. WotD is a bit harder, so I'd recommend the Sennin build for that.

Fuzzy Bearbarian I have basically a sennin axe build on meth and WotD takes about 4k off my damage per hit and adds about 1k damage to hits i take so its a pretty big jump

It is. I'm guessing you're using a lumber chop build. I played around mixing the Sennin build with a lumber chop axe build for a little while. I then switched it to a hammer build for a bit of fun. But ultimately I don't really enjoy anything near as much as I do dual swords.

Fuzzy Bearbarian mad spinner is generally way better than lumber chop, although it takes a lot more work. i use titanic strength to clear levels tho.

Well that depends on how you like to play. There are lumber chop builds that one shot absolutely everything, including end game bosses in Way of the Demon. Hard to compete with that if that's the kind of play style you like, especially if you're not very good with preventing mad spinner from being interrupted like it can be.

Level is irrelevant. That's why plenty of players are completing the game at level 1. If you're level 750 and remove all your build, your attack and defense will baseline. Gear and build is what matters.

Nope, that didn't happen. Yasakani Magatama accessories still give you the extra +1 set bonus. No changed with 1.15. I'm still using my Sennin dual sword build in WotW no problem. Maybe you just don't have your Yasakani on?

Sorry, I don't have it anymore. Once you get to Way of the Demon all your lower than 200 divines are worthless so you end up scrapping them.
