The main reason you are seeing inconsistency is that each Core Stat is focusing on a different main weapon. It's trying lead you based on weapon/equipment preference.

All weapons have scaling, your spear has an A in body so if you max body out you will have the most damage output with that Stat point, and hp because that's what body also gives, there are times where you lvl your Stat point and will just give you one to your damage but it jumps back up. What your weapon scales off is shown on the weapon D being the worst A being the best.

The way it works is based on eastern philosophy; sound mind,body and spirit. Don't try to pick and choose to get a max output but rather have a balance in levels clean across. This game is based on strategy, skill, patience. Team ninja gave us a good game that will keep us occupied.

The tool tip will say a stat (mainly effects spears), however if you go to the weapon itself it will say how the stat effects the weapon (for example BODY B+, STRENGTH C+, SKILL D-

I know this is super late but it means the armour you are wearing is getting lighter. Max out strength and wearing heavy armour will be like wearing cloth. There's no reduction persay, its all good.

It's just like other games of this type to me, in that you pick what you want to upgrade the most. Some will upgrade a little to hp and the power of certain weapons. Like most action RPGs I focus on my hit power and/or weapon power and rely on blocking and dodging attacks. I am a spear/ dual sword user and have put a lot into my skill points level as it gives me points for most of my weapons used. I have just now started slowly putting points into other levels for just magic and health. I have been using my prestige points for a lot of my health upgrades.

Nioh weapon scaling with stats. It's on the wiki. Differen't weapons scale with different stats. THe same stats could affect different weapons with different amounts.

Some states get bigger bonuses at certain levels. But the bosses sometime get harder if your farm for levels

You prob figured this out but you cant leave the body point applied and then add a strength point and correctly count differences between the two. The results will always display the total of all applied points at once. To correctly compare each types results you have to apply them one at a time and then remove them before applying a different type of point to determine which one added a higher total amount to the overall total.

Check the weapon scaling, that particular dual sword might scale better with heart(A) than with skill(B) or the spear might have an A in strength and a B in body.

My opinion, put your points in Ki, Skill, Magic, Dexterity. Beucoup Magic, Ninjitsu, and Samurai skill points, while being able to maintain a constant stream of attack with all those moves unlocked. Max those and you'll be a maniac

As Your number level increases the stat increase reward changes. Each stat reward changes in amount based off your number level. So you may get 2 atk when leveling body to 10 but nothing when you level to eleven. I feel it's based off your overall level what kind of reward that stat will get for leveling it

Equipment will begin to scale with stats as you progress threw the game. The bonuses can be op'd if built as suggested by the tool tips. You won't find an odachi that scales with skill in the same way that you won't find a spear that scales with stamina.

Seems like body is a vital stat that adds to the effects of strength/dex etc

Levelling up in this game is unnecessarily complex. It's a freaking game, everything doesn't have to be too complicated

at the end of the game I figured out that the magic and ninjitsu you use is just as important as what weapon and armor you use. they weren't kidding when they said at the very beginning, "death awaits..."

I spent a day and a half farming Amrita and leveling my attributes up to 10 on the Isle of Demons before cheesing Onryoki with my living weopon. Once I got everything to 10, I did all my upgrades to Dexterity, my build is Sword/Kusarigama and I mainly use Kusarigama in low stance with some high stance occasionally and mid stance when there's multiple enemies. I think I have Dexterity at 15 right now, I'm a level 42 and just now opened up a ship and new section of the map. I just beat Edward Kelly on the main mission after the vampire chick Hino-Enma is her name I think. It took me a while to understand if I die, I lose my Guardian Spirit and all my Amrita, and what Amrita actually does. After I figured that out, I started farming Amrita.

That's because every single attribute has a different kind of behavior towards your overall attributes. Let me make an example: I use a one-handed sword. Let's say, instead of my earlier used Kusanagi Tsurugi, I use now a Dragon sword. Since I have put some points not only in Heart but also in Strength, I'd do more damage than if I only have spent all my points in Heart. Why is that? First of all, every weapon will scale on different attributes. And while both weapons have a B+ towards Heart, the Kusanagi has a D+ towards strength, while the Dragon sword has a C. So while having spent some points, it really pays off. Secondly, every stat you level up has some sort of diminishing return. That means, the more points you spend on one single stat, the worse it pays off if the value is already pretty high. This is not only true for weapons, but also for your overall stats. For example Body: You get +30 health for your first point, which would mean from 5 to 6. However, at 11 and onwards, it is only +15 life. And, over the long term seen, it might be linear, but instead, it decreases because first, the enemies get much harder during midgame, so you would need to do a lot more damage, and secondly, a lot is also depending on your overall gear and performance. The same is true for every other stat as well. That's why a single-stat-based build is total bullshit. At least for early game, you need every stat at least at lvl 10, better would be 15. However, with 8 stats in total, that's at least 5 points spent per stat minus 2 on total, which you get from the start by choosing two weapons. This means you need to spend at least 38 Levels only for basics. However, everything can change a LOT once you reach divine tier items or higher. Some have really nice additional effects, and the scaling of the gear and your own stats make the difference between a build that barely survives and a build that kills everything single-handedly.

I just started playing I'm been leveling up strengh, stamina, magic, spirit, heart, body. I use, dual swords, spears, kusarigama and swords. As I increase stats. They ten to change, I been asking myself the same, what's the best way to increase stats, I been considering using the book of reincarnation

Dude in darksouls there are softcaps and hard caps like 40lvls of str would be its soft cap means you gain 4 dmg per str until str40 After u get 2 until 60 and 60 will be hardcap

Small thing to mention, most dark souls players who play the game typically stop around at levels 120-130, and even lower if they planed on invading at certain soul level groups. The game caps at 800+ in most Dark Souls games if every stat were maxed out, so most players don't max out at 99 levels on every stat in dark souls, only the pve players do that. Unless you are talking about Dark Souls 3 with it's password summon mechanic. Then prepare to get nerfed kiddo.

What the hell does gimping mean?

What’s happening is that the stat increases it shows are based on that stats weapon type. So when you add a level to skill, for example, and it shows +2 damage, that +2 damage is with weapons that scale off of that stat. In this case, dual swords. Adding that level will only increase dual swords damage. It won’t increase damage with a kusarigama.

Each weapon scales better with a stat (I play katana, so heart). For the most damage output you need to Max that stat. Damage can scale with other stats, but not as much. Also, if you equip a different weapon the scaling is going to change too. So maybe you’re starting, say you have a katana with C scaling on heart. When you equip a different katana with... A in heart your attack is gonna get boosted if u invest ur points in heart. Other stats can also benefit ur attack, not as much but also benefit other stats such as ki, or Max gear weigh, ninjutsu, etc... body boosts your hp... the thing is... you have to think, do I need more attack? Do I have enough health? Need more Max gear weigh? Just 12 hours into the game but that’s how I see it.

In Bloodborne I leveled up mostly life, stamina, and strength. But in Nioh I understood that magic is really very important . Leveling up Omnyo magic you can kill tough bosses in one minute

Get *everything* to 10. Then work on your Skills. It would help a lot to know what build you're doing but you'll even everything at 99 anyways. What *I* use is Sword & Kusarigama & I am level 66. I used a book to reset my points. I put a lot of thought into my points cus my build had my ❤️ @ 21 & everything at 12. Didn't work. One hit from an axe killed me or one hit from boss. So I redid & this is my build: 14-15*-12-15-15*-10-14. The * is ❤️ (Sword) & DEX (Kusarigama). Everything needs to be 10 to get the Dojo Missions, even Magic. And that is as far as I go 🤣 but I do know that other Dojo missions open after other levels.

I went for stamina,the skills tht help my weapons become stronger and helped with health and ki tbh I say it’s all in preference to how u wanna play.if u look at your weapon and it says A thats best the skill u put into tht specific weapon will help it.im only level 70 btw
