Parrots’ skills at mimicking human speech make them quite charming. As a result, many are illegally collected from the wild for the pet trade. With the intelligence of a toddler, a highly destructive beak, and screams nearly as loud as a jet plane, parrots do not make good pets for most people. Having a pet yellow-naped Amazon, like Nipper here, requires major commitment. Guests can see and hear Nipper, and learn more about what you can do to help parrots in the wild, at the World of Birds Show, daily (except for Tuesdays) at 12 pm, weather permitting.
