@@user-kw5ze5ky5q Well Dave Mustaine does in a sense have a right to be angry with Metallica (James and Lars in particular). They kicked him out while across the entire country away from home by waking him up from his sleep and handing him a bus ticket knowing he had zero dollars to his name. Then they STEAL his music/guitar riffs and profit millions of dollars from and to this day never acknowledge that or ever even apologized. I'd be pretty pissed off too. He's made peace with it since and he's gone on to make MUCH better music than Metallica could ever dream of making.

Their singer died so there are no more members unless they get a new singer and that guy from Foo Fighters dies so Chad can join too. So really, he'll probably never be a member again unless maybe he kills himself as well? Poor guys, it must be hard doing so much drug addiction and doing grunge music. Clearly in this interview his mental function is severely diminished from heroin speed balls. Very sad.

Chad got a raw deal when it comes to the recognition aspect. He did all the drums on Bleach and was responsible for over half of the drum tracks on Nevermind. Thankfully, Dave Grohl brought this up at the R&R hall of fame induction. Dave just copied most of Chad's drums for that album. Dave is a more technically proficient/tighter drummer, but Channing had that underground style that Nirvana was always meant to have. I'm glad people still bring him up and he's gets some attention. Without Channing, Nirvana would have been very different.
@nevermore7373
@nevermore7373 5 жыл бұрын
I agree wholeheartedly dude. Listening to Bleach, you can hear Chad's drumming style. It's so powerful and tight, yet has that poppy feel that Kurt yearned for. I'd say the only thing David has over Chad is power but to be a good drummer, you need more than power. Technicality is key in my opinion with a dab of simplicity.

"Let's jump into the music of today, the music of right now....do you think there is a band or an artist that will, um, be as iconic as Nirvana is now." Chad was handed a pretty meaningless question, and had every right to be irritated. Instead, he just smiled, took it in stride, and answered as well as he could. I think that's the definition of gracious.

What a great interview, Bleach is such an important album to me. I remember doing yard work all summer in 7th grade saving up for a drum set. Once I got one I spent all my time drumming along with Chad on Bleach. He really taught me how to drum and for that I'm forever grateful.

I remember when I first bought bleach. I was in eighth grade and I was really trying to go deeper into music and I really loved nirvana at the time (still fucken do) so I went to my local record store and asked the clerk what nirvana albums he had in the store. He said he only had unplugged and in utero but he said he could special order one of my choice. He showed me all their albums and played a track from bleach. I think it was Floyd the barber and at that moment when the song ended I was like. Dude order me bleach I’ve never heard anything like that ever it’s like punk and a million different other things I can’t pinpoint cause I’m a fucken dumbass 8th grader. A week later I go back to the store, pick up the album and go back home. I popped that shit straight into my CD player and listened to it for 2 weeks straight. Those two weeks were pretty much heaven for my ears tbh

He's aged amazingly well! I love Chad's place in the history of Nirvana. As much as Grohl owned the drums, Bleach was a great album, in it's own right. I really liked how sincere he was in his answer about touring. Anyone who's been in a band--especially if the band went nowhere--knows that the priceless moments come less from on-stage, and more off-stage. There's something sentimental, in the fantasy of trying to emulate your favourite influences. Nirvana was a huge one for me, as a teenager, in 1991.

Chad is no mere "fifth Beatle" to Nirvana - track down his album with The Methodists. You'll be doing yourself a nice favor :) I was just a Nirvana superfan that tracked it down for curiosity, and was surprised to turn up such a gem. Despite preferring it to Bleach, I still think Chad was the perfect fit for Nirvana's early songs

Fuck. This guy never ages!!! What the hell? And maybe the most loveable guy from all Nirvana for me. Seems like a pretty cool, laid-out dude! Respect to him but also Krist, Dave, Dale, Aaron and Dan Peters. Dan Peters got the most shit out of all the members.
@NESman-dm3wd
@NESman-dm3wd 6 жыл бұрын
How does Dan Peter get the most shit out of them? I know he only played on one song and got kicked out after a month, but you could debate he's Nirvana's greatest drummer. Plus, even without Nirvana he plays on one of the greatest albums/eps ever made, Mudhoney's Superfuzz Bigmuff.
@jimmysaboter3
@jimmysaboter3 6 жыл бұрын
Just the fact that he got kicked (not even with a formal announcement to him, he just found that Dave Grohl was playing with them one day), means he got the most shit from Kurt Junkie Cobain. And he didn't deserve it. I know he's a good drummer, and he didn't deserve the shit he got from Nirvana. At least a friendly announcement since Cobain and Krist loved Mudhoney so much. Or at least they said so... So fuck Kurt Cobain.
