4:00 - 4:30 is the Nirvana I’ll always remember. They don’t take themselves too seriously - a bit self deprecating - massively talented but not overly worried about image or how they’re perceived. When Kurt falls forward out of the chair with that goofy expression on his face… still having fun with it… that’s how I wanna remember my favorite band.

Nirvana taking "Ivory towers" down in that time extra! If you didn't experience this.. How can those "after those times" finding out what Nirvana meant in "realistic"time. I was blown away then, like a could say. Liking music "all around". From classic, worldwide culture, électronique, pop, hardcore, punk..name it: Being good,=being interested person being. Nirvana.. that "extra" level knowing to reach in musical way..after in "social" expressing ways. Cobain Kurt being the "soul" of Nirvana in many ways.

I was sixteen in my dads garage working on my first car when the news broke over the radio. I sat down next to the car and cried. When you love a band as much as I loved Nirvana and something like happens it's almost like you lost a close family member. I remember feeling confused and empty sitting there knowing I would never see them live like I wanted to and thinking music might never be same for me again. Music is great for me again. Like most things time heals. Until this day a "celebrity's" death has never had the impact on me like Kurt Cobain's death. I put quotations around celebrity because even though he was and will always be one of the biggest rock stars on the planet he didn't feel like a celebrity to me.

The music still stands...as do I...for now. i feel a.bit sad for the kids....We had Nirvana and the 90s In.Utero..in context. The kids today have Nirvana T shirts..marketed right to them through the always on talking and listening billboard in their pockets . The video steals images from the Wizard of Oz. Especially the scene where Dorthy overdoses on poppys (heroin), a FIELD OF DREAMS. And is brought back to life with snow (cocaine). Which was left out of the final cut. The Wizard of Oz is an allegory for the gold standard.. the yellow brick road. As depicted in the heart shaped box video; Kurt wears a "tin man" coat, scarecrow pants and the cross, good witch/bad witch and so on. Interestingly instead of trying to reach OZ, material wealth and success he ingenuously changes the story to be about reaching child birth, a baby. Even more incredibly is how this all ties into the fact that the Dark Side of the Moon synchronizes with TWOZ. The pyramid cover depicted on our money and on from there.. When you get to the scene in 'The Dark Side Of The Oz' you can hear "one day closer to death" as Dorthy lay on the ground just as Kurt does in the HSB video. Truly fascinating! 'the softly spoken magic spell' we are all under i suppose.

I met Krist back in 2006, talked with him, gave him my (then) bands album and told him I didn't have a ticket to the Flipper show he was playing. He said for me to hang around, and I ended up at the front row of the show. I wished I asked him things like at 2:54, whose idea was it for the bass to continue playing the riff while Kurt rode the A. Was it organic? Why didn't he just hold the A? Was there a discussion about that? The chemistry they had as musicians really was some sort of alchemy.

well according to Dave Grohl, their writing process was very organic and involved little to no communication regarding the actual writing of the songs/song parts. they kinda just played something and made it a song but Kurt had most of the control over how the song was gonna be. Dave basically said he'd drum something up and Kurt would play what he wanted and everything went from there but they never conversated about the writing because Kurt operated pretty much everything, at least, until the In Utero album where all three of them collaborated on a couple songs. After that, Kurt actually wanted to keep writing music like that, with more input from Kritst and Dave rather than him taking the brunt of the load.

Still my favorite music video. I couldn't really understand it when it first came out in '93 as I was 12, but I was fascinated with it even then. Back then, MTV would play a mixture of different genres, so there would be an Aerosmith video followed by a Dr Dre video, followed by a Metallica video and then THIS! I still remember when the "SLTS" video came out and how they would play it with the lyrics rolling across the bottom of the screen because everyone was trying to figure out what Kurt was saying. I personally was curious but after reading them and figuring them out I actually preferred my version more haha! I was so young that when I listened to "Polly" I thought it was a song about a pet parrot! I'm just realizing how much those old videos really influenced me. I went and got a striped long sleeve shirt like the one Kurt wears in the video and wanted a guitar so bad that I mowed lawns for my grandfather for the whole summer to be able to afford one. These days any kid can have access to whatever they want at any time so it's easier for them to find their own niche and I see that the younger kids are way more open minded and free spirited (for the most part) then they were when we were kids. Wearing jeans with a little hole in them would get some kids harassed and being into art and music would get you called faggott on the regular. It always makes me smile to see a 14 year old rocking out to Nirvana and absorbing the art. That would have made Kurt smile too. Man, what was the original point to this comment when I started it?

Courtney said this song was about her saggy fanny so I came to give my own opinion. This song is about Courtney, proven by the lyric "I wish I could eat your cancer", that's her Zodiac. The Jesus was a figure of sacrifice, he was possibly put here to show how much he sacrificed for Courtney (or this could be about Frances. It could mean that he was about to make a large sacrifice, quitting Nirvana and divorcing Courtney, and those are two things he wanted to do.) The fetuses hanging from the trees is new life, opportunities, jobs, change, it's just the change that was about to happen. The small girl who is prancing in the field is Kurt himself, everything is out of his reach. The new change, the sacrifices, everything he wanted. The woman with the anatomy suit/makeup on was Courtney, or I think was Courtney, because she was behind the scenes and not really there. "Hey, wait, I got a new complaint" is possibly about him and Courtney arguing. "Forever in debt to your priceless advice" is something he would say during their arguments (I read that in an article dont take my word for it, I'm not even sure about that line myself) Now, about the title and the little girl sitting on the bed holding a heart shaped box. Kurt and Courtney would exchange heart shaped boxes full of coins, hair, trinkets, notes, anything they wanted to fill them with and then give them to each other. The little girl, who I mentioned earlier was Kurt, is holding a empty heart shaped box because he has nothing left to give/say. Thank you for reading my theory

That's pretty spot on, a theory that I came up with (only based on the lyrics, I also didn't know some of the info you used) Is that it's the story of a toxic relationship where one partner walks all over the other partner, this being Courtney walking all over Kurt. The zodiac Pisces was Kurt Cobain's sign, and Pisces are known to be sensitive, and can become very weak and easy to manipulate because of that. Courtney Love's sign, as you had already mentioned, is Cancer, and Cancer's are know ln to be rather intuitive and are known to value family, or in Courtney's case, "value" family. To keep Kurt with her, Courtney used the excuse of parenthood, duly noting how Kurt's parents divorce affected him, and how if they divorced, the same thing would happen to Frances. When they first met he was drawn to her by her innocent exterior, "cut myself on angel's hair...", and how he regretted thinking that she was so innocent in the first place, he was drawn in by her beauty only to be torn apart by a monster that was merciless "meat eating orchids forgive no one just yet..." The phrase "forever in debt to your priceless advice" sounds more or less like a sarcastic remark, for everything she had said and done that had a profound effect on him up until that point. It's a story of stress, manipulation, and regret. Thank you for reading if you did.

@@knoxjerky That's absolutely spot on, that's a great theory! I honestly just went off the most common lyrics (to be looked at), I like this! The baby breath most likely also represented Frances, which does prove the point of this being about Courtney using family as an excuse. I do think Courtney covered up the truth about this song (to be about her vagina) because it would be another cover for herself.

is a track about a relationship in turmoil. The narrator has been locked in an emotionally and physically painful situation that they can't escape. They express feelings of being trapped, unhealthy dependencies, and being dragged into "magnet tar pits." The chorus reiterates the idea that the narrator is in debt to their partner or relationship for the pain and advice they have been given. The song suggests that the narrator is trying to move on from the relationship, but is struggling to do so.

I was 14 when Kurt died . His music was a huge part of my life and still is . His death is the only musicians death that ever reached me on an emotional level. I feel like a part of my childhood died that day .

Earlier that day prior to shooting the video, Kurt burned a cigarette in his forehead. That's why strands of his hair are covering it up.
