I just recently completed my 1st dash/back up cam installation. I've watched several videos to help give me a gd idea of what to do. It was quite challenging at times but turned out nicely however I still wish I came upon your awesome very helpful videos before I did my install. Your soo calm, cool & easy to follow along. Thanks for the video. The red wire on the RCA cable could be used for the reverse wire on an aftermarket car stereo receiver if it has one then just tap it off the same purple reverse wire. I'm about to do this on a 2011 Sentra thanks for the idea on the camera that looks so sleek! Update: I did the same install in a 2011 Nissan Sentra base model which had the factory stereo without the Rockford fosgate amplifier speaker system or Bluetooth system. The reverse wire was red and blue on mine. it was easier for me to route the wires for the camera under the back seats and then up through the middle console under the carpet and I wired the camera to my pioneer head unit thanks to your video I now have a backup camera on my Nissan Sentra saved me $175. That's what I was quoted to have someone do it. You rock dude! 👍

@@corygregorich3229 The video cable I used had one red wire, I still connected the red wire to my reverse light in the back and in the front I hooked it up to the purple reverse wire on the head unit 👍

Hey thanks for your video I used this video 2 yrs ago when installing my backup camera worked great. Fast forward 2 years later a replaced my reverse lights to led and when I turn the vehicle on my after market head unit immediately goes to reverse camera mode and stays like that no matter what you do.

I am having trouble removing the chrome trim in my nissan sentra 2015.. you said you just have to remove some screws and pinch the plastic retainers while im pulling out the plastic trim.. but mine is too hard to pull.. am i doing wrong?

it's a pioneer av290bt, and I'll be attaching a license plate camera. hey, did you bother using some sealant or something when you drilled through the metal trunk lid? maybe I should use some silicone?

InnerDragon103 That's a very nice head unit. I did not use silicone I actually had to come back the next day and install rubber grommets. Remote Jobs can be very stressful if you forget little things.

Hey man one more question - I've watched multiple videos and I still can't figure it out. I installed a backup camera (Boyo) with the radio, license plate mount style. well, I hooked up the wiring as you did, but I hooked the trigger wire from the rca cable to the trigger wire on the head unit, and it doesn't even look like I'm getting power to the camera. I'm stumped... I'm going to go back over my connections again, but got any ideas? that trigger wire deal has me so confused to be honest..

thanks a lot! for my Nissan it was a different color wire for the reverse, but I also used the black cable for ground/-, but I notice when using the Turn signal of that side, the video screen flashes?! is that normal? possibly the black is the Turning signal positive wire?! other places I read it's best to connect black cable to any bare metal spot on the chassis, as the car chassis is grounded (not the trunk lid however), suppose will try to find a ground point on the chassis and see if that resolves it... (BTW you may want to mention not to close the trunk when unplugging the harness... I was locked out of my car and took my quite the effort to get it connected again (only have a small hole through the center backseat... hehe... )

If you don't have the purple wire you can just tap the positive wire on the reverse bulb and put the ground on a metal point

yo man, great video and very informative. Feedback though: you occasionally play music that is very loud compared to how quite you are talking and you're only playing the music for like 1-5 second long intervals as you speed up the video. I would have rather had silence and observed what you were doing than sudden blaring music.

+Tyler Drake To my knowledge the car is still functions perfectly well, no electrical problems. We did a 30 day follow up and she was happy. I'll try and ask her if she wants to be on video

Raymond, thx for the video. I noticed that your indicator light to the right of the power button remains off prior to putting the car into reverse. My 2008 altima does the same. However, every other person that has the same T2 camera that I have watched has their indicator light on prior to putting car in reverse. Do you have any insight into this? Thx

It's weird, on some installs that I do the light remains green till it goes in reverse. There is clearly some internal issue with some of them...but they work just fine

Use the detector in reverse. Hook it up to a +12 and it will light up on a ground

Really need help. Installing a wireless reverse camera in a 2011 Nissan Altima. I hooked it up in the rear and front and when I put the car in reverse the rear camera leds light up but the monitor in the front just turns blue for a second and turns off. I'm going crazy here, my cars in pieces and I've been working on this all day. Please help ASAP thanks!!!!

Hi. First of all GREAT VIDEO. Thanks. Next, at 2:30 these 8 mm. One of them keeps rotating along but never loosens and it doesn't come out at all. Not even a little bit so I cannot even jam my flat head to push it out. Now I am stuck like this and don't know what to do. Any help?

Try adding pressure to the other side. Worse comes to worse cut it off....but you better be sure you tried everything before doing that

Make sure you have all the black push pins pulled out and then the handle take your finger and flip it down and then carefully guide the liner around it

Really, really good video.. Very instructive. My only problem was that you yourself were very low, so I had to make the volume really high... but then the music, the music was loud as fuck! Bit the bullet and just kept my hand ready to lower that volume! Haha, good job though, I learned what I needed to.

Wire tap are sold on Amazon and you don't need to expose any wire just press down on it

Hi..i was following your video while installing my backup camera. At around 9:42, i was checking what wire is for reverse light, was using my multimeter and was able to get a +12V reading on one wire but then it turned to 0V..now i don't have light for my dashboard and reverse light. You probably blew a fuse Check for a dash fuse and check the forums to see if there is one

What would you do to add power if you cannot use the add a fuse?

You can run wire to the fuse blade and add an inline fuse

+James Hale Que? I'm gonna try and answer this the best I can the wording in your question is throwing me off. I'm assuming you want to wire the auto vox mirror to a wireless camera. You would need 2 transmitters one at the mirror, another at the backup camera. The transmitter in the front would be wired to a constant power. The transmitter in the rear would get wired up to your reverse signal.

James Hale why would you want to get power from there? why not just get it from the fuse box by the gas pedal? If you are confident that your dome light has constant 12v power then just tap that wire.

You can leave it. The liner comes off around it. If you want to remove it it detaches from the cable. Then unscrew two screws.

At 10:34, you tap into the reverse wire using a wire tap. Would it be possible to just remove the reverse wire from it's harness, twist it together with the camera wire and then reinsert them back into the harness? Great video btw!

I want to install a rear camera like you have done, only I will be connecting it to a new Double DIN Jensen VX7528 Navigation receiver (I am purchasing from Crutchfield). You stated in this video that you were not that pleased with the camera? What camera would be a better choice (if you have one in mind)? My other question is is that location under the chrome plastic trim on the trunk a good location or does it limit the range of view? There are SO MANY rear camera choices out there! I want it to have traffic lane markers, night time lighting (preferably IR LED lights), and at least a 170 degree field, and be adjustable to get the correct pitch and views. Any help will be much apprciated! The Altima video will help me immensley when I do run the wiring! Great information! God bless, Richard in KY.
