Amazing, I have watched several Ariya reviews and none went into the depth of demonstration of ProPilot and showing the differences in this light. Have had a Nissan Leaf for 9.5 years now and seriously considering the Ariya as my next pair of wheels.

Loving my new Ariya !! Love all the options and drives nice ! Super happy , inside looks way better then Tesla , love the openness , the moving center and secret compartment ! The screens are situated in a perfect spot to where nothing is in the way and easy to get to . Wood grain with buttons is a great touch making it look expensive! And omg the self driving and parking is amazing, beyond what Tesla can do !

All Teslas comes standard with Auto Pilot software and all Teslas come standard with the Full Self Driving (FSD) computer. The FSD software is optional and fairly expensive to buy ($15k) but can be subscribed to on a monthly basis ($199 per month). The Enhanced Auto Pilot is a $6000 upgrade for very little more additional than auto lane changes and Smart (read stupid) Summon which is a silly crude party trick that requires constant monitoring because it’s not good. The Standard included Tesla Auto Pilot is all you need and works great on virtually all marked roads. The Tesla software is amazing, the Ariya has quite a way to go to just match the standard features of any Tesla.
@carensimon4236
@carensimon4236 Жыл бұрын
All Teslas come with the FSD Computer and you can upgrade to use enhanced FSD levels at any time even after purchase of the vehicle. Also no one uses the card to drive or open the Tesla vehicles- its just for emergency. So, that was a bad comparison. You use your phone, and with your phone in your purse or pocket, you don't do ANYTHING. You just get in your car, put it in gear, and go. Not even a start/stop button. As mentioned, you choose the Tesla self-driving level you want, and purchase it permanently, even after purchasing the car, or use FSD by the month for $199, canceling and restarting the subscription at will. There is a free option that is best for highways, a $6000 option on the Tesla that has almost all the $15,000 full driving capability, other than auto-start on red (that 6000 option is amazing, but simply ensures your car can't be used a money-making commercial taxi that completely drives itself - hense the $11K difference). Also on the Model Y you don't need to hit a lock button on the truck to lock up the whole car, because the Tesla auto locks everything just by walking away from it. And the integrated glass roof in the Tesla insures the vehicle meets the highest safety standards if you care about that - not achievable with the Ariya with its moveable moon roof. And consider that difference in the towing capacity regardless of wether you will ever tow - 3500lbs(Tesla) vs 2000lbs (Nissan) tells you a lot about the quality of the frame and drive components. Lastly (super important and missed in this review) with Tesla you get their amazing charging network, and the charge level tracking and built-in route planning software work seamlessly - with the Ariya you don't get either, so good luck on a road trip.

You only need to do the initial setup then after that, you just need to have your phone with you to enter the car. Also Tesla’s simplicity interior design to control everything from the main screen, but you only need to setup once. You can also use “voice control” in a Tesla to control things but he never mentioned that.

Clearly your comparison was going to be bias because everyone knows Teslas unlock and lock automatically when you walk up to or away from them. The keycard is only a back up if you don't have your phone. If you're going to be bias don't do a comparison video. Just promote what is a very nice EV from a well established auto maker.

Model Y is larger inside/outside while being lighter weight. Model Y has longer range, better efficiency, over twice the charging speed on DC chargers while being $10k cheaper with similar trims PLUS qualifying for federal EV rebates as its Made in USA. I don't see how Nissan will be able to sell more than a handful of these to ill-informed consumers. Big miss by Nissan. Currently $53k for Model Y LR minus the rebate so you around $46k. You would have to fully load the Ariya to even get it in the same realm on range/AWD/features and it would still have less range and significantly less power. Just seems like an Ariya is a compromise on every facet while paying more for it? Don't understand the value proposition.

Ariya does not need a smartphone to lock and unlock the doors. We use a fob. However, Nissan Ariya also offer Virtual Key feature similar to Tesla smartphone keyless. What I hate about using the smartphone to lock and unlock is that I don’t alway take my phone with me when I go inside the grocery stores or to Home Depot. Tesla owner here. I realize you have a job to sell your EV over Tesla, but you did not fully explain several key features of the Tesla. 1. When you compared access/entry, you failed to mention that you can use your smartphone as your key for your Tesla. What this means is that you don't need a card or any haptic touch nonsense. The car recognizes your phone, unlocks your car when you approach and locks it when you walk away. You just simply lift the door handle to enter. 2. Additionally, you leave out Sentry Mode for Tesla which utilizes the cameras to detect bumps or any potential thief that might try to break into the car. It will record those interactions for you. 3. Also, you leave out an important safety feature in that if you blow your horn, your front camera instantly records a video clip of what is happening. This video could be important for an insurance claim should you get into an accident. 4. When comparing lift gates, you did not mention that the Tesla has an adjustable lift gate height so that shorter people can adjust the lift height so they don't struggle to reach the button when the lift gate is up. 5. You did not mention that almost everything inside the Tesla can be activated with voice commands. It works exceedingly well. You can open the glove box, turn on wipers, AC, heat, fan speed, music volume.....the options are extensive which means your eyes never leave the road. 6. In addition to heated seats both front and back, the Tesla also now has automated heated seats and steering wheel. It adjusts the heat intensity according to the outside temperature. 7. You did not mention that Full Self Driving has the option of a monthly subscription service which allows you to use it when you need it and turn it off for when you don't need it or want to pay for it. Should you buy a used Tesla with a paid FSD (not subscription service), it stays with the new owner which is a terrific perk. 8. Also, via your smartphone app key, you can set the Tesla to charge off peak hours and have the climate and battery set for a morning departure time everyday or weekday only. Plus, you can enable cabin overheat protection for the car when parked outside during the summer or automatically set the climate to have the AC or heat turned on before you leave work so the car is at your desired temperature. 9. You also implied that the Tesla did not have a 12v power supply or USB ports in the center console. The car has one 12v power supply and two USB-C charging ports in the center console along with two USB-C ports for the rear occupants. 10. Telsa Model Y's can also be configured for two third row seats. They are good for kids, not adults, but nonetheless an option. 11. Tesla to your point, does not offer Apple Car Play or Android Auto, but one outstanding feature is that your Tesla NAV will automatically build in Supercharger stops if your car can't make it to the destination on a single charge. This greatly reduces range anxiety. The Telsa Supercharger network is superior to any other network (not even close) and you can also purchase an adapter so that Teslas can charge on ANY charging network. 12. Last, the performance of the Model Y is better and the range is better too. 13. Tesla also sells direct to consumers. No middle man. No dealer market adjustment fees, no destination fees, no hidden finance fees or charges. With Tesla, you pay for the cost of the car and features you select, tax, title and license. That's it. If I order the same car optioned exactly the same as my neighbor we pay the same price. A traditional dealership's job is to sell you the car for as much profit as they can squeeze out of the deal. Not Tesla. The Tesla dealership experience was one of the best experiences that I encountered. 14. Service. Your car is updated via over the air software upgrades. I have yet to experience a recall where the problem wasn't fixed with a software push. Tesla also has mobile rangers. What this means is that if your car can be serviced in your driveway without the need to go to a service center, Tesla will send a mobile ranger out to your house or work to service the vehicle. I have my tires rotated in my driveway. How cool is that? Cost is no more than to bring it to a traditional service center. Ultimately, you the consumer have to buy what works best for you. Just don't listen to a biased one-sided story like this thread. Do your research for all cars you consider. In this day and age, there is zero reason to set foot on a traditional dealership lot unless you are going to sign paperwork and buy the car. You can do it all from home these days. Dealerships don't want you to know this because it takes all of the control away from them. Happy Hunting!

Tesla autolocks when you walk away from the vehicle. I was expecting more from Nissan, since they were one of the first serious EV manufacturers, but I think they dropped the ball. They still don't seem serious. They should be way ahead of Toyota, but both vehicles look like they are at the same level.
@Rick9482

The only feature that I prefer in the Ariya is the hands free AP. I never use AP in my Tesla because I don't like the constant attention it requires. It just gives me anxiety I prefer to drive myself. All the controls are nice in the Ariya but my Tesla's auto functions work flawlessly. I've never owned a vehicle that had auto functions so intune to my desires. I start thinking that it would be nice to have high beams now and they turn on. It's kinda weird. My previous car, a 2008 G35, had terribly unintuitive controls, especially hvac controls. I was always fiddling! Keep those new EVs coming, I just love it. More choices creates happier customers! My biggest gripe on EVs is the insanely slow response of the government to get more charging stations. What a bunch of assholes in our government. Adding 4 or 5 charging stations to existing gas stations with tax incentives is a no brainier. It's just not that expensive! Every food store parking lot should have quite a few chargers at the extremes of the lot. You know, those places where people seldom park. My favorite supercharger location is a Safeway parking lot which has sixteen chargers and guess where I do my food shopping?
@rmorales1029
@rmorales1029 Жыл бұрын
Did Tesla wait for the government to install their chargers? Why are you blaming the government? If anything they are working hard to encourage more chargers. Other charging companies should emulate Tesla’s approach to building chargers.
@Rick9482
@Rick9482 Жыл бұрын
@@rmorales1029 Well adding chargers to existing gas stations would take government action because gas companies have no incentives to do that themselves. I don't see any movement to make that happen. With the emergence of convenience stores at some stations, adding charging outlets seems logical as it would also add customers and tax incentives would make that pretty easy. I agree that car companies have dropped the ball on not matching Tesla lead. They should probably buy into Tesla's charging structure or make an agreement amongst themselves to build charging outlets with a common plug. Again, I don't see any movement or encouragement from the government. Right now, all I hear is talk with no positive action but, of course, with Mary Barry on the ball at GM, it will all be solved in the future or should I say, far future. From my experience, it looks like large food store parking lots are the primary places to add multiple charging outlets. They have the available unused space.

Actually what i hear the way this guy talk about tesla is like talking down about the car more than really comparing. No OTHER EV car had better batteries than tesla cos Tesla batteries range wont dropped after turning AC or heating system which stay true to the mileage. Even a 10 years old tesla model S batteries probably deprecated 10 to 15% only but other will dropped over that. We had a Nissan Leaf and a Tesla before, and according to the results from resales sources. Again, this guy work for Nissan of course he's talking down on a tesla to sells his company's products.

The one screen design in the Tesla just is terrible. To me, it’s like they designed this thing on purpose to cost as little as possible to manufacture at the same time reaming gullible buyers with no sense to pay up their hard earned cash. I can’t get over how bad the interior looks, that steering wheel with the two balls is laughable. The gaps on the pillars looks like the interior has been glued together. The Ariya is proper car with a proper interior, smart phone integration, and 360 view. Also, there is no way I will buy any car today without Apple CarPlay or Android auto. Have a great day!

@FriedChairs

To each his own. I prefer the minimalist interior. Anyway, the Ariya, if configured with features that make it more comparable to the Model Y like phone key, costs $15,000 more than the Model Y since it doesn’t qualify for the tax incentives and the difference will probably be even greater as dealers add on to the MSRP. And then you get to deal with the very lacking charging situation for non-Teslas on long trips. You honestly have to be a pretty poor decision maker to choose the Ariya.

@@FriedChairs I agree that taste is different. If everyone liked the same stuff, life would be deadly dull. But what is in favour for the Nissan over the Tesla for me is, I live in the UK so most of what you wrote won't have much, if any affect on me. However. If Tesla change the interiors of the Model 3 and Y to be more normal, like the S and X and they put in a binacle for the drivers display of speed etcetera like 99.9% of manufacturers do, I'd buy the Tesla. Their running gear is still the best.

The Ariya is priced less than Model Y even with the $7500 IRA. Feature for feature, Model Y can not beat the Ariya. I own the Ariya Evolve + since Feb 1. May I suggest you go test drive one and see the features that are offered on the Ariya that Model Y doesn’t even have. Avoid test driving the entry level Engage +. The Engage + is an entry level trim with no bells and whistles. It is priced at $45,000 for a reason.
